The reel will have 4 grey brake tabs and 2 blue ones. I don't know how proficient you are with a baitcaster so I'm purely giving you advice for a beginner. Start with 2 blue and 2 grey on. Which is how I believe it comes from the factory. Then you can turn more off as needed. I ran mine with just 2 grey ones on and it was perfect.

Invest in a scale because you just never know what you might catch and when. Also it's all purely a guess without a scale.

Every local and their cousins fish that place. I also could care less if someone else catches it. I'm sure someone already has at some point, just not recently from anyone that I know who fishes there. I hope someone does actually catch it because it will make a great memory for them. Only thing I wouldn't want is for someone to keep it. I have no right to say what they do with it though. I would probably try my best to talk them out of it if I was there. Maybe tackle them and throw it back myself haha.

If you find one,see if they have 2. It seems like one of those baits that don't get offered for sale.

I bought 4 and sold 3 of them. 7'6 Jadewood - it was heavy and very tip heavy. Also doesn't use good components 7'2 Kovert - pretty tip heavy. Had an ok feel to it. 7'0 rosewood - overall not bad but didn't care for the reel seat. Not a $200 rod though. 7'0 Jadewood med/mod - only one I liked. Light and is perfect for square bills. They will put anyone on their pro staff. It's not an accomishment at all. I know at least 10 people on it and most of them might fish 3 small local tournaments a year. Heck some of them are bank fisherman only. Denali is doing this to get their name out there. Just doesn't look good imo. For $150-200 you can buy a much better rod than the Rosewood. That is a very competitive price range. You have so many good choices in that range. As for the Jadewood there are better rods at the $100 price range too. There are multiple threads on the best $100 rod. Do a quick search and you'll find plenty of good info.

Oh now now. Don't be silly. We all know quantum makes the best reels.

The cast control knob pushes on the spool shaft which the other end pushes against the non handle sideplate. So if you have to much spool tension it can make it hard to get the non handle sideplate back into position easily.

Best idea ever.

Spend $8 on carbontex drag washers and problem solved. Even though the stock drag works just fine.

Yeah I know there have been plenty caught equal to or larger but for where I'm at it's one of the bigger ones that I've heard about.

I have a stock steez 100hl spool. The black one with the purple brake inductor. I could probably let it go.

Yeah I'm thrilled about it. It's one of the biggest fish I've heard of in my area of Md.

I believe that you have to start somewhere BUT there are some small parts that have to be removed and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. I will also tell you that I've done this to my Tatula's and there is honestly no noticeable difference. If you can do it on your own then it's worth the $5 in parts but not if you have to send them away. I like to tinker so that's why I did it.

Caught her tonight on a weighted wacky worm around 7:45. Went #7.5oz on the scale. New Pb and a new goal to beat.

I was thinking about 7 before I got it weighed. Also hoping because my goal after the 6 was to hit 7. I also haven't caught nearly as many in the 4-5 range this year so it made up for it. I'm just happy I had the scale so I wasn't purely guessing on weight.Thanks everyone once again. None of my friends understand the feeling of excitement you get from something like this.
