Interesting about the seals. Makes perfect sense though. I asked Boca about that when I ordered mine. Weather to run them with or without and they said it wouldn't matter from a performance standpoint. I choose without since it's easier to add oil here and there. Thanks for the tip though. As for the grease I guess I've been lucky. Though I don't work on reels in mass like you. Any of the ones I've bought and flushed I've never seen grease in the bearings. Just a ton of oil but not saying your aren't right.

Grease shouldn't be in the bearings. They take oil but from the factory have too much a lot of the time. That's why flushing them and adding 1 drop you see a substantial increase in performance. As for boca orange seals. They are a no contact bearing so removing the seal doesn't do a whole lot except make them louder. The gain would be minimal at best.

When you come to a forum to read and gather new information it's annoying to see the same questions over and over about everyday. If a topic even has a similar title I don't click on it. I guess I look at things differently. To me it's that some people are too lazy and would rather be spoon fed information that is easily answered by going back a few pages or searching. I guess because the auto forum I've belonged to for probably 13yrs or so isn't like that at all. I guess that's the difference between fishing and cars. They'd rather feel a little accomplishment by putting in a little search time to get the answer. Oh well life goes on.

I've tried 5 different types of FC line in the search to find a good one that I like a lot. Seaguar invizx and P line are what I first tried based off of all the things I read from other people saying how great they were. They both sucked! Way too much memory. Tried Berkley 100% FC from Walmart. Good line but I was limited to what they carried. Tried bps xps. Also a good line but my closest bps is 2hrs away and their shipping charges are out of control. Finally I tried Sunline sniper when they had the 2/1 deal going. I had no reason to continue my search after that. It's great and has low memory without any kvd l&l. I picked up 12-14-16-20 and it covers everything I need in a FC line. It's a bit pricey without the special but if you can hold out it's worth it. 2 - 200yrd spools for $25

Don't count out Okuma products either. I've been using 2 trio 30 spinning reels for a few years now and haven't had a single issue with either one. I know there's a good following with their casting reels. I also know the pflueger president is a good reel for the money.

Buy the hedgehog studios tool. It's a great little piece of equipment. $35 on eBay.

Just wanted to let everyone know it was great. My issue wasn't huge but the little things add up. Lost an insert in my rod tip so I called and told them what happened. I received 3 in the mail a few days later. No questions asked and no charge.

Call up Tackle Trap and they'll set you up or DVT who is a site sponsor also sells them. You need the 2 spool bearings. Not a complete kit. Try flushing your stock bearings first. You'd be surprised at the difference it can make.

As already said they all have their place on the water. Try maybe going with one brand but not one type.

That's fine but stop claiming it's not the end all be all of fc line. It hasn't failed you,congrats but it's really not that great. The people have spoken on that part. I had better experiences with Berkley 100% fc and bps xps then invizx and P line both.

I'm not arguing your knowledge LMB but invizx was crap compared to Sniper. At least in my testing anyways. Seaguar had more memory then I cared for. I had 12# seaguar and 16# sniper and it was more supple. Without any line and lure cond.

Well it looks like the cold is here. Weather reports are saying we might get snow here in W-MD starting next week. Tomorrow will be the last day for the boat I guess.

^^^ that's your opinion. I tried it based on what everyone said and hated it. Tried P line too with the same result. I've had good success with the bps brand,Berkley 100% FC, and sunline sniper which is what I stuck with. 12-20# is all very manageable.

I got sucked into it from the import car scene. Paying crazy amounts of money for parts that are stock on cars over there but we can't get here. It's a slippery slope. $300 for some used stock 94 Honda headlights because they don't have the amber reflector in them like US cars. Dumb!

Take it apart and soak the stock bearings in acetone and then add 1 drop of oil to each 1. Sounds like it's over lubed/greased from the factory. Which is very common. I had the 5:1 and 7:1 models. Both casted great for me. I did a test for another member cause he was having issues with a bb1x. 1/4oz swim jig, no trailer I was getting about 82-85ft on a normal sidearm cast.

Call Lews and tell them. You'll get 2 new ones in the mail free of charge. I had the same thing happen on one if mine.

Spool tension should never be tight. That's hurting you right there. On my BB1 I ran 2 brakes on and was ok with everything I threw.

You seem like you're new to baitcasters possibly. Braking doesn't matter. It's preference really. Shimano's have cent brakes. Your high end Daiwas have mag brakes. Some reels like the Lews tournament pro have both. The tourney mg is crap when compared to the bb1. The bb1 in 6:4:1 would be a great casting reel for a beginner or advanced user.

See my experience is totally different. I've been a member of a car forum for about 13-14yrs. Basically anything I've ever needed to find out was learned by searching on there or google. I agree with the traffic part though.

It's been discussed a million times now. You'll hear pros and cons about both.

It seems like on a daily basis I see the same questions being asked over and over again. I understand we are here to help each other out. I've learned some things myself and hope that I've at least helped one person out. It just gets irritating to me to constantly see questions that you could of answered easily by doing a search or looking on the next few pages. Ok I'm done ranting now.

Take Powell rods for example. No IM rating at all. Berkley lightning rod shock. IM7. Like DVT said there is no set standard. Just like power ratings. Falcons heavy is a med/hvy to most other companies.

I better be able to cast into a parking lot and catch a fish at that price.
