Yes, it's possible with the right setup. For me that setup was a light power casting rod with a Daiwa Tdz that had a shallow bfs spool in it, and I had it spooled with #6 sunline mono. They weigh more than most people realize BUT the technique tends to work better with a spinning combo.

Sniper is a good all around fluoro. I used #14 for pretty much everything except in heavy cover I went up to #20.

Armilo #13 works great for topwater. Unforgiving is probably the last word I'd use to describe it. Pop x,pop max,giant dog x,prop darter 80. I have no problems throwing any of those on it. I also throw jerkbaits,squarebills, and mid depth cranks on the same line. Give it a try.

You should be able to order the gear set from Tackle Trap. As for the handles I always hold onto them in case I sell the reels. Order a tatula handle assembly from Tackle Trap for $25. It's the same as what comes on the SV103.

Lexa 100's engaging mid cast is an issue that's somewhat common. As for why I don't have the answer to that but I've heard of it happening from a few different people. My buddy has 2 that he uses and they'll do it from time to time.

You can buy them used on eBay from $180-220. Just keep an eye out for one.

If it will see more bottom contact than moving baits then the emtf is a better choice. It's 3" longer but has a faster taper which is good for jigs and t rigs. The dsr isn't a bad choice though at all. It's just more of a mod fast than the emtf. I've used it for t rigs in a pinch but it's not my first choice.

Go with the perfect pitch. It's a great rod. I like it over the tv and that's why I kept it out of the two. Though the tv is nice I was trying to cut down on rods and that's why it's gone. I'd of kept it too if not.

I had the TV but sold it because it was too similar to the PP. The J&W is the only rod in the series I've heard anything negative about. Other people state that it's pretty tip heavy and unlike the other rods in the xx series.

The Orochi xx line is hard to beat for the money. Depending on what your plans are for the rod, the dsr might not be the best choice though. What are your intended uses for the rod? I own most of the xx lineup so I'll help you out if I can. The new xxx line is priced a tad better but without any real world experience yet it tough to say how it'll stick up against the xx. It's a good looking rod though.

It's still a Daiwa reel, so yes it should include MB. That's my answer also.

I buy what I buy because I get enjoyment from using it. So weather I'm on a boat,in a kayak, or on the bank... I'm going to enjoy it. How many 2yr olds you know fishing with a Megabass combo. It can be replaced but memories can't be.

Final little pieces showed up today for my pair of SV 103's. Gunmetal Hedgehog Studios frame screws and Ray's cast control knobs that I'll be having anodized black to match the rest of the parts I put on them. Calling these ones finished.

As long as it's a 34mm spool then it will fit. So that means any spool that fits a Steez/Tdz/Is will be interchangeable between reels. The 1016 spool works rather well in the SV103. That's the great thing about Daiwa. You can change almost any reel to fit your needs with a spool swap.

$300 is a great budget and opens up a lot of reel options for you. Are you against buying used? That would open up a few more choices. What are your plans for the reel? Like what are the baits/weights you plan to use? The jdm Alphas SV 105 is a great reel for the money. Does well with lighter baits and some heavier stuff. Lacking a little bit of drag but it's not bad. The SV103 is also a fantastic choice. It makes a great all purpose reel. I now have 2 of them. The Steez SV 103 can be sourced for right around your budget. It's a little more refined than the others mentioned. I enjoy using it a lot. I own all 3 and it would be hard to pick a favorite out of them but I'd give the slight edge to the Steez. You then have all the Megabass variants to look at. Megabass Zonda 68 megabass fx 68 megabass IP 68 and 79 megabass is 73 and 79

I had no use for one either but now I have two of them. Sometimes you get tired of using the same reels over and over and it's nice to freshen up your lineup with something different. I took off a monoblock and zonda 68 to make room for the SV103's.

I'm plenty aware that'll cut fluoro or mono. All my waters have both things I mentioned in them. However, it doesn't cut through those types of lines as easy as it does braid. If you're not breaking off with #10 braid due to abrasion then you must not be fishing around much stuff that's abrasive. I normally use #30 and had it cut many many times, but if it's working for you then great.

If you're fishing waters that have toothy fish they'll cut through braid in the blink of an eye. Also if you're fishing in waters with zebra mussels they'll do the same thing. Braid is great but it lacks abrasion resistance and sometimes you need it. That's where a leader comes in handy.

Just a recommendation but I'd pass on the tactical and pre order the tatula sv through Tackle Trap for $199. SV spools are way more capable of throwing light stuff than a tatula is. They are still a good reel but the spool isn't exactly the best for light baits. As for the T wing... it's a nice idea and works fine but it's not the game changer they try to market it as.
