I've only owned their casting rods and not the sierra series. The power ratings are generous. A 3 power is listed as a mh but fishes like a med. The 4 power is listed as a heavy but fishes like a traditional mh. For me it's safe up to 3/4oz.

It's super easy and you have to learn at some point so why not now. Set your parts out in the order you remove them. Take pics if you need to. Here we go... Remove palm side plate and spool. Use a small flat to push in the nut cover tabs on the back of the handle. Use a 10mm turned to the right to loosen the handle nut. Remove the cast cap and pinion shaft. Remove the drag star by spinning it to the right. Under it will be 2 drag washers,a small washer,and a bearing. Your drag washers are curved and should be reinstalled opposite of each other. Like this () -- take the frame screws out and remember where the go. Pull your sideplate up and off the crankshaft. Remove the anti reverse bearing sleeve and note how it comes off. It can be installed upside down. Pull up on your pinion gear and it should come out easily. There will be 2 yoke springs,a yoke, and the pinion gear. Now pull up on your main gear. Set the drag stack aside in the order it comes out of the main gear. There's a plastic washer under the main gear and it'll probably stick to the bottom of it. Make sure you put the washer on before the main gear. It's used for proper spacing of the gears. Reinstall everything in the reverse order. Just remember not to overgrease the new gears. A dab on the yoke and and springs. Grease the new main gear about 1/2 way around and then rotate it to work the grease the whole way around. I sent you a pm with a useful link. @DaveT63

That'll work. I just use brake clean since there's always a case of it in my garage. Warm water and simple green works fine for the AR. Add 1 drop of oil to a q-tip and go around the inside to lube it.

Buy a cheap ultra sonic cleaner online and use it in combination with simple green, or another solution of your choice. I stick mine in a baby food jar with about 1" of brake cleaner in it. Then just add a little water to the ultra sonic and turn it on with the jar in it. Before the ultra sonic I used the baby food jar and brake clean for a good while without issue. Just not on anything plastic.

Don't waste your money on bearings. If anything pickup 4 - 4x7x2.5 bearings and add 2 to the knobs and 2 to the worm shaft. However, the difference isn't really noticeable. I do it because I like to mess with stuff. I had 2 tatulas... 1 with al the extra bearings and upgraded spool bearings. The other 100% bone stock. If you blindfolded me I would not ever be able to tell you which one was in my hand. If anything spend that $30 and send it to Bryan at The Tackle Trap and have it properly cleaned and lubed.

The reel is just there to hold the line and store it on the spool. Your rod is what you have to be concerned with when thinking about 1.5 baits. The Steez sv tw can handle it.

I know a bunch of people with the non A version of the new Steez and they have all said it's one of the best reels they have ever used. Some of these people being very diehard Shimano fans too.

I've rarely seen that from the pros. A handful at best but nowhere near the majority. Yes, they do on Dobyns rods. Not all companies do it and there are better choices out there. Balance is fine on my F7 rod with no added weight.

Buy a used Megabass orochi xx perfect pitch on eBay. Maybe in the old days but technology has changed.

A tip heavy combo stinks to fish for me. You're fighting against the rod wanting to be tip down plus the bait adding to that. For things like jigs where you're usually fishing with the tip up it bothers me. For something like a spinnerbait I could care less. A balanced combo feels light in hand and let's you fish it tip up or tip down without issue. As mentioned we all have our own idea of what balanced is.

Some more for you lmb since I got a small order or parts today in the mail.

I went from 15 combos To less than half that. 5 casting and 1 spinning. I can cover all my bases no matter if I'm on the bank,in my yak, or on a boat.

Get the rod you want so you don't have to worry about it. It sucks selling used rods. Trust me I know from experience. You lose your rear after shipping. Plus you won't be fully satisfied.

No matter if the handle is 25mm or 250mm the driveshaft that connects everything is still only going to turn 1 time.

Just following up what Logan said. Dsr isn't powerful enough for 3/4oz and pads. 3/4oz jig in open water would be too much for it. The tip is too soft imo. EMTF would be fine for 3/4oz but not with heavy cover. I'd be using my perfect pitch for 3/4oz and pads. Honestly you're asking a bit much from 1 rod. The tour versatile will handle the weight and the heavy cover but it's not going to do well with a senko. Big single hook baits I throw on the xx diablo spec R. It also makes a good light t rig and tube rod. The EMTF is a better choice if you will be using it for more bottom contact since it's got a tip better suited to those things. I love my spinnerbait special too. It's a good do it all rod for me. Shorter at 6'10 but I like it a lot. Tough call on which one to go with. The tour versatile is stout though. Wouldn't be my first pick.

I've never tried anything other than the cxx in #10 and 12. It seems to have the same issues though. Cxx #12 is equal to big game #15 and I will be going back to that once this spool is out.

A new one should be a tight fit. If not I'm really not sure on a fix. That would mean the hole in the spool is enlarged.
