The Zillion coastal has screws so replacing the knobs is simple. Buy a pair of knobs made for Daiwa and swap them out. Zpi - RCS - slp all make knobs to fit.

Use the knot that you can tie 100% every time. It doesn't matter which one is stronger if it's not tied right. I prefer the Palomar since I use it often. braid - palomar mono - uni leader - albright I use the uni snell for straight shank flippin hooks.

Try backing the tension off just a hair and adding 2 clicks on the brake dial. I had an exceler and I remember it taking some messing with to set it up like I preferred. Which might not be for you but it's easy to try and see first.

Your line is perfectly fine. I only use #20 and #30 braid on all of my baitcasters. It sounds more like the reel needs to be dialed in. The rod is on the light side but you can make do for now.

Right now it's mounted on a Orochi XX spinnerbait special. The Zpi/Itö combo is a blast to fish.

Not sure about all their reel but getting parts for a Tdz is no problem. It's pretty darn old.

On 0 you should have to use your thumb. Sv spool or not. Put the brakes on 10 and see wht happens. I've had 1st gen Steez and tdz mess up and the brakes became backwards. 0 was max and 10 was min. I had to replace to inner mag ring. It's like a $20 part.

Popular low profile swimbait reels are the Daiwa lexa 300 and the Shimano curado 300E. You could also look at the tatula 200hd and the curado 200E. I used a Cardiff 300 and it held plenty of #20 big game.

@buzzed bait I've heard from both Bryan and Gary at TTT that the new Glx is right up there with the Nrx. The slightest bit heavier but in terms of sensitivity they are almost identical.

Balance is important to me. I guess now it's more of a was. I've bought so many rods and sold them because of crappy balance. Luckily I found a company who has a rod series that fits everything I look for in a rod. So now balance isn't important because I got what I want.

A lot of great options at $200 which puts you at $150 with your 25% discount. The Pflueger Patriarch is a very nice reel. Daiwa Ballistic Ex is also very nice. Shimano Stradic always gets high praises but the 15% discount doesn't apply to it.

Agreed, but it's hard to argue with a guy who's attention to detail far exceeds most anglers. Also his accomplishments on the water.

Roughly 7-8ft depending on rod length. I like the joining knot to be about 3" in front of my line guide when the bait is reeled up and hanging about 2ft ready for a cast.

You can use any size leader you want. Let your situation dictate that part. I run a leader from #6-15 depending on what I'm fishing. Modified Albright knot works great for joining 2 lines together. Adjust your number of wraps for thinner and thicker lines.

Weight size is usually decided by depth of water,wind,cover, and sink rate. You aren't fishing deep if 10ft is max depth. If there's no-low wind then no need to worry about keeping contact with the bait. If the vegetation is spares then no need to worry about getting through the cover. Sink rate is gonna be the last factor and the fish will tell you what they want. It could be slow or fast but you'll figure that out. As mentioned big worms have some weight to them so start small and go up as needed. Plus that large hook adds some weight too. 1/16-1/4 would be fine in 10ft and under. I fish the zoom ole magnum on a 5/0 gammy with a 1/8-3/16 weight 90% of the time.

The Arachnid is a 1st gen Tatula Type R that's branded for Cabelas but made by Daiwa. Reels are 100% the same minus color scheme. There used to be a Cabelas prodigy reel which was the same as a Daiwa HSTA.
