I was at a friends today and he's done 2 totally up in orange. Including swapping in orange Steez sv105 spools and changing out the bumpers to black ones. They really do look sharp. Slix rod covers that I slightly modified. I cut all mine to come to the same spot on the blank for each rod, and then re sewed them. Boredom and OCD got to me there.

A few more HH parts made their way onto some reels, and a new G1 zillion 1016 sv spool to try out in one of them. Black level wind screws for the SV103's and purple brake dial screw for the Steez.

He's spooling braid from one to the other so twist isn't much of an issue in this case.

It accepts any 34mm Daiwa spool. Too many to pick from.

Basically the same inductors so no need to buy the extra one. I've been messing around with them lately. No performance gains that I can see.

Why... most spinning rods are used for lighter line and baits. I can see a spinning rod for say a wacky senko but not so much a 1/2oz jig plus trailer. That's about 3/4oz total weight and you will be using a much heavier line with that. Not to mention a heavier powered rod. I own 1 spinning combo and it's for finesse techniques only. I can tell you for sure I'm not tying on a 1/2oz jig to it.

Just loosen the drag on the casting reel till it doesn't take much force to pull line out. Then thread it through the spinning rod guides and tie your arbor knot to the spool. Reel it on just like normal after that.

SV103 or SV105 Both have the same spools so their casting capabilities are the same. 103 holds a bit more line compared to the 105 spool. Both are nice but I prefer the 103 do to the longer handle and a bit more drag pressure. Also feels a little more solid in my hands. Take a look at the Steez SV103 too. Easily found on the auction site for $300. All 3 have their place in my aresenal. Hard to pick a favorite since I enjoy them all.

It's braid so it has no memory. Just hand wind it onto an empty spool. Good to go.

I've personally not spent any real time pitching with the sv105. I have other reels I use for that situation, and I enjoy using more. As far as casting that reel does fine for me. I have a YouTube video of me spooling mine to the knot using a Dobyns 733 and a sk red eye shad. That was with #40 braid also. After the spring swap it's definitely more finicky and took some time to setup properly again. The braking was changed but now requires a little more brakes on the mag dial. I use mine for jerks,cranks, and topwaters.

The easiest way to change the braking profile is by swapping out the inductor spring for a stiffer one. It wakes the spool up a lot. Sometimes too much imo. Swapped the spring on my sv105 and it is a totally different reel. It's definitely taken a little bit to get used to and dial it in to my needs.

True but the price to do so is too much for a lot of people. It's a niche market.

A 5" senko weighs 3/8oz with a hook so it'll cast fine. A 1/8oz weight plus bait and hook will come in over 3/8oz so again it will cast fine. Small Rapala as in what? Like a #4 shad rap that is only 1/8oz.

The 105 is built on an Alphas frame and the 103 is built on a Zillion frame. The 103 is a bigger reel but it still palms well though.

Not yet handled a tatula sv but in sure it's decent. I might pick one up for a bank beater setup. I own both the 103 and 105. For what they're asking for the tatula sv it's a no brainer to get the 103. Other than the 105 being a bit of a smaller frame and a little lighter... I prefer the 103 10/10 times. It has more spool options 'if you choose' and feels more well built. Not to mention the longer handle and metal drag star. The 105 is very nice for the price but the 103 can do all the same stuff and also allows you to use it for heavier baits and cover. I was throwing a sk 1.5 squarebill '3/8oz' and evergreen popper '1/4oz' today with both reels. Results were the same with distance and the 103 is spooled with #12 cxx and the 105 with #20 j braid. The 105 is even on a lighter powered rod.

My guess is the 8:1 is brass because they figure a lot of people will use for frogs in heavy cover or things like that. Brass is going to be more durable. Spool performance is gonna mainly be determined by the spring/inductor combination but also the mag brake assembly that's screwed down to the non handle sideplate. Yes, all those spools will fit and there are some great options out there that drop in. I meant the overall build quality and tolerances when I said it's not like older Steez offerings. The reel is nice but it doesn't have the feel of the old ones, or the new ones. I enjoy mine very much but it seems slightly cheaped out on in a way. That's why I said I'd never buy it at the $400 retail. For that money I'm getting the Steez tw sv from Japan.

First thing is a 702 is gonna be too light. Look at a 703. It fishes like a medium. The ratio is totally up to you but the 6:x:x is usually seen as a good all around speed. Nobody can tell you what YOU are going to prefer. The 6 is lighter than the 8 because the 8 has a brass main gear and the 6 is duralumin. The spool is made of G1 duralumin and is super controlled due to a longer inductor than a lot of other sv spools. Overall a nice reel but not exactly like the Steez offerings in the past or the newest one. At full retail I personally don't think it's worth it but I never pay retail so for me it was worth my price.

Custom built on a Phenix K2 blank. Matt from Otterrods is about the best in the business as far as custom rods go.

Only you can choose which one is going to be better.

It will depend on how far you have to send it and the amount of insurance you get on it. Plan to pay $20-35 to ship one. That's using any of the 3 main companies.

They don't ever discount MB stuff. Your best option is to keep an eye out on eBay as the xx rods get posted up fairly often. It's not hard to get one for about $200

Yes, it will fit. You can purchase the handle assembly from Tackle Trap for about $22. You will also need the handle nut cover and screw. Should be around $30 for all of it.
