This is very true. I feel like I buy pretty decent stuff, but a lot of those guys on TT make me look like I'm fishing with a Fisher Price combo. The guy who posted his reel collection for sale would make most of these people's head spin around. Or Jerry C who just buys pop x's to collect basically.

A few years ago I tried a few Seaguar fc offerings, and then tried #16 sniper. I never bought any other fc after that. Great line for the money.

Put me in the mh club too. Just remember that there is no set standard for power or action of a fishing rod. Some fish heavier or lighter then the ratings suggest. Example Dobyns 3 power or mh as they label it. More like a medium. Abu veritas mh is more like a heavy. Same with tip action or 'taper' as it also referred to. The same 2 rods I used as examples differ from one another a lot. Lure weights are also just suggestions. Tons of good rods out there. What's your budget?

I back 50% with cheap mono and then spool up the other 50% with my braid. Since I use #10 it would take a lot to fill the spool using all braid. Tie on leaders as conditions dictate.

Braid is more forgiving when it comes to picking out a backlash. You also don't run the chance of kinking the line bad enough to worry if you weakened its integrity. In the flip side I can almost promise that you'll have to cut the line off at least 1 time. I'm saying this from personal experience. So you'll waste $12 in braid and have to spend another $12 for a second spool of braid. Totally your call and you'll hear different opinions on it.

I use a leader of varying lengths,size, and type depending on the situation. Pluses for me are... Abrasion resistance Break offs due to snags Slack line sensitivity Shock resistance Lure action Abrasion resistance If your waters have toothy critters braid stinks. Or things like chunk rock or zebra mussels. Break offs due to snags You only lose the leader and what's tied on. Slack line sensitivity Fluoro has better slack line sensitivity vs braid. It's a plus when fishing weightless plastics. Shock resistance The line will stretch a bit on your hook set. Helps when fishing treble hook baits. Lure action For me things like jerkbaits and poppers work better with a mono leader. I get too many fouled hooks for my liking with straight braid.

Yes, spool with #12 big game and get used to it first. There will come a time that you might have to cut the line off due to a backlash. Mono is cheaper and you won't be wasting money. Then pull off enough to get about 50% of the spool covered and spool up your braid. As for settings I'd put the mag brakes on zero. Open your sideplate and click on 4 centrifugal brake tabs. Set your spool tension knob 'behind drag star' so your lure falls very slowly and stops when it hits the ground without any overrun. Start there and use lobbing sidearm casts. Adjust as you do with practice. Back off the tension bit by bit when you're comfortable and then the brake tabs. I had mine set with 2 tabs on. It was good for whatever I wanted to throw. Only touched the mag dial when it got windy. Enjoy the reel.

From what I've learned it's actually 4 groves. 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom of the tws directly below the top grooves. You can't see the ones on the bottom until the tws is removed. I was always curious how 2 grooves could be so perfect on every reel in the same place. Especially on a part that moves side to side. That's when I was told about the other set of grooves. Then it made sense to me.

The issue is real. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Some experience it, and some don't. Call Daiwa as already mentioned and they'll send you the newer T wing that's found on the Zillion TWS. If you don't feel you can do it yourself then you can ship it to them for repair. I had 2 regular tatulas and 1 type r. All have been sold but 2 of them were to my buddy so I see them regularly. It's been 2yrs now without any grooves.

They still have your typical JDM tapers. They're a very versatile rod. I've spoken with Gary a good bit about them. When he tells you what they're good at he's giving you first hand info. I had my emtf out today for 3hrs. I cycled through a handful of lures and it handled them all great. 90mm avail would be my choice.

The release date has been the end of November since they were introduced at iCast. I wouldn't get too excited because there's a good chance the release date could get pushed back even further. It'll be one rod I purchase over winter to try.

A 200 yard spool of #16 sniper will do 3-4 reels for me when I use some #12 mono backing.

Sounds like the pawl for the worm gear could be worn out. Yes, it's fixable. If you can exchange it that would be the easiest solution.

A 6:X:1 is a good all around ratio. To me inches per turn 'ipt' is more important than the reels gear ratio. A reel that picks up 26-28 ipt is fine.
