What do you plan on using #20 mono for? I ask because I use #20 big game on my swimbait combo for throwing baits up to 3oz.

$75-100 is considered a drop in the bucket for a good quality swimbait.

Toss a 3-5oz bait for 2hrs. Your jerkbait will seem like sunshine and rainbows after that. I can't even imagine the guys who throw the big swimbaits that weigh 6-8oz or more all day long.

The shadow rap is a nice jerkbait for the money. They run $8 each. $32 gets you 2 regular and 2 deep. That'll cover you down to 12ft.

Yeah, same here. I have 2 PX68's. I bought the 2nd because I let an SS SV get away by a few dollars. Kinda bought it out of frustration and figured I like the one I have so why not. Well I still ended up buying the SS SV a few months later. I don't use that second PX68 or the SS SV. They both collect dust so to speak. Same with my OG Zillion. Haven't fished it in over a year I bet. I can't sell them because everyone wants them for nothing. I'll keep them on the rack.

Haha you sound like me. Every Daiwa reel I own is jdm with the exception being a Steez 100hla. I wanted to try a handful of different ones and see how they differed. Now I'm hoping to sell off a handful of them and keep my favorites. That last part is tough because I enjoy them all.

Decent rods for the money. Their power ratings are a bit generous though. The 6'10 pitchin' stick is labeled as a heavy, but it's a true mh with a softer tip due to the mod/fast action. Also owned the 7'0 med/mod and it was the same way. A bit too whimpy for my liking. I cut 1.5" off the rear of the 6'10 and installed a new but cap I got from Falcon. It makes a great rod for treble hooked baits. Great squarebill rod for sure.

Pretty much the same here. Used quality gear doesn't sell for hardly anything these days. So now it's either take a big loss, or hold onto it. I'd love to be able to just have 5 really nice combos. Unfortunately Daiwa has more than 5 nice reels and I can't let them go for nothing.

I'd just give them a call tomorrow. If it's under a year old then warranty should cover it. You'll have to pay to ship it to them. Over a year then you'll have to pay for whatever parts it takes to fix it. You might even get lucky. They've sent me quite a few parts free of charge over the years.

Fishing rods weren't always technique specific. 'Worm and jig' just gives new people an idea of what it can be used for. Doesn't mean that's all it's good for though. Plenty of companies still don't put labels on their rods. I should have a label made for my 7'2 mh that says 'do it all' rod. I prefer graphite rods for anything I fish.

If the rod didn't say worm and jig would you even think twice about it? I use a 7'2 mh/xf and I'll throw all kinds of things with it.

The 705cb makes a great cranking rod. It's a little whippier than I would of expected for a mh cranking rod, but it's not bad. You'll like it.

Any factory swept Daiwa handle will work. Tatula handles are pretty cheap and easy to source. Regular Tatula for a 90mm handle and Tatula 200hd for a 100mm one. Plenty of aftermarket carbon ones will fit too.

Online auction sites seem to offer the best deals. Check feedback and make sure it's 100% or very close to it.

As mentioned it's just the U.S version of the Jdm Alphas SV. Only difference being the price. Do yourself a favor and order one from any of the reputable Jdm fishing sites. You'll save $50-70 on it. With the SV spool it's can be used for more things verse a pixy. It can hold more line and those spools are just great overall. I've thrown down to 1/8oz baits on mine. It was just to see what it could do though. I have a px68 on a ml rod that I use for light baits. I've got mine spooled with #30 braid and tie on a 2-6ft leader of some kind depending on what I'm using it for. You'd be hard pressed to find a $200 reel that can beat the Alphas SV right now. Only complaint is the 80mm handle but for about $25 you can purchase a 90mm Tatula handle. Both have 2 bearings and 1 bushing so you could then have a 4 bearing handle after it's said and done. Another $20 and you can do Carbontex drag washers plus the level wind bearing upgrade. Still coming in under the $270 of the U.S. version, and it's now upgraded.

We fished Deep Creek Lake out of the kayaks yesterday. Water temp was still 63/64. Pretty crappy weather yesterday. It's was foggy,chilly,rainy, and some winds. Fishing was decent though. I managed 2 brown bass 2 green bass 2 toothy critters in the 4hrs we were out. All that fun cost me an $8 shadow rap.

If you aren't against buying used rods you can get a lot more rod for the money. You can get rods that sell new for $300 +/- when people sell things over winter for around $200 +/- Winter is a great time to buy fishing gear. People sell things off to fund new purchases for the upcoming season, and at good prices too.
