Basically the same reel. The spool shaft doesn't even make contact with the bushing. No need to replace it. Been there, done that, no difference.

Dang that's a deal. I paid $95 just for the reel. Which was still a good price. Spool was free so I didn't spend anything there.

Can I ask what you paid for the TDZ with Steez spool? I have a 103ml with Steez 100 spool myself.

What makes the Alphas so great is the SV spool. So as Cgrinder said, just buy an SV spool. It'll be a whole new reel.

Type R vs regular Cutouts in frame,7.6 vs 7.9oz,black paint with red accents,lighter spool,Zion drag star, and higher gear ratios. Personally I couldn't tell a difference between the two. I bought the R for the 8:1:1 ratio.

Look up a product called the rodsman. I have 2 of them. They work well.

Great reel and very hard to beat for the $90-100 you can buy them for. They cast just as well as some of my higher end reels.

A quick dunk in clean water isn't going to hurt it. Remove the sideplate and remove the spool. Wipe any water off and let it air out for a day or two. You'll be good to go.

The tatula rods seem to be rated 1 power under. At least the ones that I've used so far. Also when going by lure specs. Up to 5/8 Ml = M Up to 3/4 M = Mh

I'd try to find a used ascend fs12t. They run $550 new. I understand you just want one to use to get to a few spots on the river. Once you use it though and see how much fun they're to fish from I think you'll find yourself wanting more. That yak will allow you stand and fish and also float the river. Unlike a $200 yak.

Just like Tom said. You choose based on weight. You aren't going to use a medium light to throw 3/4oz C rigs. You don't want to use a rod rated for 2oz to throw a 4oz bait. Most of the time the sweet spot is in the middle of the rating. My swimbait rod is rated 1-6oz but anything over 3.5 starts to feel like it's overloaded. All my baits but one are under 4oz. So it works just fine. I use the Okuma guide select 7'11 heavy. I do a big lob cast.

$50 is on the cheap end of a good swimbait. I'd suggest looking at soft hollow body swimmers. Like keitechs and basstrix

It's more of a mh when going by lure ratings. Their regular action is also more of a mod/fast and leaning a bit more towards the fast end. I have the 7'0 m/r and use it for single hook reaction baits. Mainly because I have other mh rods for bottom contact stuff. I have used it for plastics though. Does fine for me.

I use reel covers and rod covers. I just lay them in the bed. I put a towel down first. Just for added protection.

My buddy just got a lure 13.5 and he had the 11.5 prior to that. I paddled the 11.5 around a bit. It's a nice yak. Seat and standing area are very nice. The 13.5 is even better with all the storage it has. The lure 11.5 might replace my Ride 115x come next spring. Hate to say that.

Yeah those would definetly not be for me. I enjoy how cork looks as long as it's high quality like on my dx. Seems most cork grips are fairly pitted like the one pictured though. I'd have to spend a few days with some filler and sand paper on it. I own both Eva and cork grips. It really doesn't make a difference to me. I do prefer split grips normally.
