That's not what I was getting it, and what you said is very true. In this instance it doesn't apply though. Not in my opinion anyhow. Which is just that, an opinion. Two people that have worked on over a thousand reels combined have tried to help. Both have years of experience with what they're talking about. Yet still get argued with by someone who's cleaned a handful of his own reels. That is what is wrong with forums these days.

The plastic tube the worm gear sits in acts like a cover to protect it from debris. The line guide itself is just that. A line guide. The paw rides in the grooves of the worm gear moving the guide side to side. It's purpose is to distribute line evenly on the spool. There's not much stress put on those pieces. I've seen people remove the line guide all together. Though it's a pretty dumb idea imo.

You don't want a bunch of grease in there. When servicing reels I grease 1/2 of the main gear. A few rotations of the crankshaft with your fingers and it'll be around the whole gear. Excess grease will build up on the yoke and pinion gear. That's what you don't want.

A great bang for your buck spinning reel is the Pflueger president. Either the 25 or 30 size. A presifent spinning combo would serve you well. Spool it up and go fish. You're good to go with the 705 then.

There's no magic in any grease, or oil. Hate to break that to you. Shimano reel grease works just fine. Tons of people use it with zero issues. OP - either tear it down, or send it to someone. I've opened reels with enough grease for 2 more, and I've had them be bone dry inside.

I have a graphite 705. It's a nice rod for sure. I'm not sure how well it'll do for cranks that dive to 20ft though. I don't throw anything like that, but they would be at the upper end of the lure rating. Might feel overloaded a bit. Hopefully someone can give you an exact answer on that. Mid divers up to about 12ft are the max for me.

A 5" senko isn't as light of a bait as so many would be lead to think. A Yamamoto 5" senko weighs 3/8oz. So a 6" would weigh at least that much. Maybe even a bit more. Any of today's casting reels can handle it no problem. True 1/8oz and below is what would be considered BFS or 'light' weight.

I have no experience with any of their offerings in the past 2 years. Their tournament pro model is a fantastic reel. Retail was $200 but it can be found online much cheaper these days. Seems like they still offer all the same reels except they added LITE and LFS to the names.

I have a bass boat, but I also have a kayak. It's cheaper to use and can be strapped to my Subaru. I'd love to have a motor for it. I wouldn't be limited as much.

Gotta be sure to use a Mustad hook. I mean KVD uses them. They have to be good,right?

My guess is it will be priced under $300, and 7.9oz or less. Since that is about the average for their 'heavier' reels. Using those 2 materials keeps the weight down. Where's the problem in that? I'd guess aluminum frame with Zion sideplate. We shall see once the specs are out on it.

Skip gaps are nice. I use them a good bit, but sometimes you need a stouter hook. They also aren't the end all hook. I still have baits that will slide down after catching some fish. The mustads are nice too. Though they can really tear up the bait just pulling it over the keeper. There's a little gadget called a parasite clip. They work very well. The toothpick trick is alright too. You can also take a piece of heavy mono #80. Push it through the bait and the eye of the hook. Trim it flush after you insert it. It won't rub the line like the toothpick will. I use stout thin wire I bought from a surplus store. A roll was like $3. I cut a bunch into 1" pieces and keep them in my terminal box. Been doing it like that for years with no issues.

Ugly Stick and sensitive are two words that don't go together. Okuma guide select Daiwa dx Irod genesis II Those are a few right off hand that aren't super expensive. A budget could help us give you more info.
