The knobs do come off. Pull out on the knob cap with something. Then it'll expose a screw. If you're just talking about getting the knobs dirty. Just scrub them off with a rag, and dawn.

Well as you can see from the replies. There is no 'best' only what people think is the best. With that budget it's hard to make a bad choice.

I'm not aware of any specialized spark plugs for outboards. Though I haven't actually looked for them either. So there may be such a thing. I purchase my plugs from an auto parts store.

I picked up 4 of them at a gas station on the way to the lake one day. I used the bone color fishing down a rock wall and tore up with it. Is it the best? No, but for $8 it's a nice bait.

I had the same thing happen with the $99 speed spool years ago. I can't remember the exact fix. Try flipping that metal sleeve around. I think that might of been it.

You push the eye into the worm and then put the hook through the eye. It doesn't come completely out of the worm, but it's somewhat close. The two metal tabs stick into the bottom of the worm. They work fine, and I haven't noticed any worms being any more torn up than sticking a hook through the middle. They work well for when you need the little faster fall that's sometimes preferred by the fish.

You need to remove the pawl cap, and the pawl. Then you can slide the line guide out. Without seeing a picture it's a guess.

Fish in my profile pic is on a weighted wacky worm using one of those weights. They're made out of Tungsten so the profile is fairly small.

Full down to the frame cleaning over the winter, and if it gets dunked during the season.

Snell a straight shank flipping hook. Especially when using heavier weights like 1/2oz and up. The weight kicks the hook out and helps to drive the large gauge hook upward. I use the uni knot version of the snell. It's easy to tie quick.

Have the schematic on hand. Take lots of pictures. Lay out parts in order of disassembly. I use a muffin pan for that part. Take your time. Have the right tools/stuff for the job. Lay down a white cloth or t shirt. It helps to see if you drop something.

For sure. It's a nice boat. I was just curious. I got a 2014 115x for $999 plus $99 shipping. Came with a paddle, zooka tube rod holder,trolley kit, and 3lb anchor. I upgraded to a bending branches angler classic paddle for another $50.

Sometimes it can be the difference. I've experienced it first hand. However it's hard to say in your situation since you were fishing against someone. Maybe he's just a bit better. I out fish my buddy all the time. Even when he uses the excuse that I'm at the front of the boat. So I let him run the trolling motor and the outcome is the same every time.

I own 2 champions and 1 extreme. They're nice rods, but I'd never pay retail for them. I hate to say it, but they aren't worth it. People are paying for the name. That's my opinion anyhow.
