It's pretty close to me. I've fished it a handful of times. Had a 2 day tournament there last year. It's not what it used to be. I'd say be prepared for a dink fest. That's even if you get in to them. Downsize your offerings. 4" wacky worm, and white flukes. There's 2 sides to put in. Md or WV. If you're camping you'll be on the WV side. When you come out of the cove look out to the right and you'll see a train bridge. Under that can be ok fishing. Going out of the cove and to the left will let you run to the back where the creek comes in. How far you can go back depends on if they've been letting water out or not. Also stay out to the right when running back there. It can get shallow quick. How do I know? Well I had to call 911 to be pulled out by the fire department once. They'd let a bunch of water out that week. That was a very interesting day.

I've had at least a dozen different small parts sent to me free of charge from Daiwa. Never once asked me to send the reel in. I've used Lews customer service before and my experiences were also good. The knobs started to peel on me, and they sent me a new set. Okuma has great customer service. Sent me a new handle for a spinning reel for free. Mistake was my fault, but they didn't worry about it. Recently had to do a warranty return on a Veritas for a buddy. Abu sent me a new Veritas 2.0 for $10. Honestly the only issues I had were with Shimano when I placed a parts order. Sending me wrong items. Charging me for their mistake. Taking a few weeks to sort it out, and put the money back on my bank card. That was a ***** show there. Won't do that again.

Yes, I do. I bought it because the price was right, and it was helping out another member by putting money in his pocket. I already own a Steez 100hla. I really don't need two of them, but I'm not upset either if it doesn't sell. Who would be mad about having 2 very lightweight,refined, and smooth reels? Also I don't have a rod for it, and that means spending another $200-300 on a rod. I also just bought a TD-Z so I could put the money towards upgrading a few things on it. I like to try out different reels too. So having doubles isn't exactly my first choice either. I sold off some things last winter to build a smaller arsenal of nicer combos. Well now I have just as many as before, but nicer. I'd really like to get it down to 5 casting setups, and 1 spinning setup again. I don't fish many tournaments due to no longer having a truck to tow my boat. When I fish the bank I usually take 3. When using my kayak I take 4-5. Generally end up just using 3 anyways. So everything else just sits on the rack in my basement. I was at the point of having it cut down for a short time. That didn't last too long haha. I'm a sucker for a good deal I guess. Unfortunetly quality fishing gear isn't one of those things that you'll get your money back when selling. Honestly the cheaper stuff gets you a better return. You still lose money, but it doesn't seem to be as much. I refuse to lose my rear end when selling things so I just end up holding on to them. It's mildly entertaining when you list a $500 reel for $230 and someone offers you $180. No thanks I'll keep it before I do that. Sorry for the long post.

That's pretty far fetched! I can throw my 100hla all day and not ever touch the spool except right before splashdown. I'm by far not a Jedi thumb master. Honestly I have my reels setup to where it's not needed. I can do it, but I just don't. I'm pretty sure I don't suffer any reel distance loss, or lack of fish. I can still cast 40 yards. I'd rather be accurate with my casts verse distance anyhow. A friend who had never even held a baitcaster was playing around with it during our annual Mothers Day tournament. He probably used it for 15 minutes and had zero backlashes. I have zero experience with the Steez 103. I've had my 100 for a few years, and those are my results since I bought it.

The HedgeHog Studios tool has been re designed. The newest version is said to not scratch the spool.

Dobyns rods are pretty light. I don't think you have to worry about that part.

Take a look at this review of the 103HA http://www.tackletour.com/reviewsteez.html I've heard the same about it being 'wilder' than the 100, but people say it's not terrible. You can also get the SV1000 spool for it or the 1016.

Give Tackle Trap a call. They can answer any questions you have about Megabass rods. I'm willing to bet that they direct you towards the Diablo Spec R. I throw the same weights the majority of the time. That's the rod Gary recommended to me for that application. It's not just a shorter EMTF. The action is different too.

Holding another rod of the same weight will not tell you what you are getting. Only thing it'll tell you is the fury weighs the same as that rod.

Yeah that was it. You'll have plenty of other chances to get one. I might even be selling that one. I don't need it now that I bought the steez. I haven't owned a TD-Z yet though. So I'm going to see how I like it before I decide on that.

I might have a new career path lol. That and it won't allow any side to side movement. It's also easier to load verse the J cradle racks. Are they needed though? Probably not, but the other option was putting foam on the factory crossbars. Which would get torn up and need replaced every so often.

Dobyns has long been known to be on the lighter side of their ratings. Their 4 power is more of a mh. There's no standard in the rod industry. Examples - Veritas 7' mh it fishes like a heavy. Falcon Bucoo 6'10 heavy fishes like a mh. I'd say it's more of an oversight on your part for not doing a little research beforehand. Dobyns has a softer tip than most rods. Might be why you feel it's 'slower than your 40 yard dash' I have the 705CB and it fishes just as I expected it to. I own 3 other Dobyns though. So I knew what I was getting when I bought it. Depending on your jig weights and how 'heavy' the cover. You might want to look at a 5 power if you're buying another Dobyns rod.

I'm failing to follow you. I've never seen a single page out of LL Bean. A Subaru Outback with a kayak on the roof? They do have an LL bean edition Outback. I know that much about them haha

Picked a TD-Z 103ml yesterday. Ordered a handle, and gear set from Daiwa today. Picked up another Steez 100hla today. Now I'm a rod short. I see a Diablo Spec R is in the future.

You can put foam on the factory cross bars, and car top it with the top side facing down. You can also buy things that attach to your cross bars. I bought ones called 'Sparehands' kayak cradles.

We took the yaks out on the south branch of the Potomac today since WV had free fishing this weekend. Did a quick 4hr float. My buddy got to test his new Lure 11.5. I love my Ride 115X, but man that seat,the width of floor area, and how the floor area is flat. He has me a little bit jealous of his new toy. That's a nice setup.

Your idea is right, but holding onto an Olympic bar verse a bulky/awkward kayak makes it a bit more difficult. Then factor in windows,paint,dents. I already cracked a taillight on my Subaru because the wind gusted as I was lifting and I had to ditch the kayak. $150 slip up happened in a few seconds. Luckily all my rods were far enough away that none got broke. I might of cried then.

I'll admit that I'm weary of throwing my hardgill in waters with toothy fish. Not so much because of the cost, but replacing it would be tough. They're hard to find for sale. Nobody seems to let go of them. There's a good reason though.
