Dobyns - New Contender For The $100 Rod Catergory
Are you talking about not having a fore grip? Maybe I'm just not picking up on what you're saying. The nut is flush with the threads once a reel is mounted and locked down. It seems they trim the reel seat threads just for this purpose. My falcon has about 1/4" or more of the threads showing once I tighten the nut down. My Volkey has a piece of Eva that covers the locking nut. Is that what you're talking about?

Dobyns - New Contender For The $100 Rod Catergory
I spoke with someone at Dobyns 2 weeks ago. Rods are being shipped to retailers already, and they'll be available very soon. Some places already have them. I specifically asked about the Fury blank verse the Savy blank. I was told it's a slightly cheaper blank, but they worked on developing it for 3 years before its release.

Beginner Fishing Rod Advice And Help
Power = m mh h xh Action = mod f xf A mh casting rod is a do all type of rod. Most like a fast or xf action. A moderate action is good for treble hook baits. However there's a mod/fast action and some people like that for certain things. There is also no set standard to rating a fishing rod. I have heavys that are like a mh and I have a ml that's like a medium. Same with the action too. If I'm taking 1 rod it's a mh/f with a 6x1 reel. I can throw anything on it that I want. Spinnerbait Buzzbait Spook Senkos Crankbaits Poppers Jigs Ect You pretty much have it covered with those 4.

I Suck At Casting...
He's been using it with the brakes on max, and no thumbing of the spool. So he really hasn't learned how to use his thumb to control a cast. Same thing a friend was doing. He always said about how it would never backlash. I grabbed his combo one day and made a few casts. They seemed short so I opened the sideplate. All 6 brakes were on. I turned 4 off and it was so much better. Mentioned that and told him to try it now. First 6 casts were a backlash. I turned 1 more brake on and he got it down though.

Painting Bass Hunter Plastic Pontoon Boat?
Also there's a company called SEM that has spray paints for plastic/vinyl parts. I've used it on cars to change the interior color from tan to black. You'd have no idea it was painted.

Did you get a really good deal on the lure? My 115x was cheaper than the lure 11.5 my friend just ordered from Austin Kayak. Either way you made a good choice.

Painting Bass Hunter Plastic Pontoon Boat?
We paint coolers camo all the time. I just use cheap spray paint. There are some spray paints that are designed for plastics. You can also use an adhesion promoter like BullDog.

Daiwa Lexa Bearings
It really doesn't make a difference if you swap it out. The spool shaft doesn't even make contact with the bearings inner race. It's a 3x8x4

Upgraded Bearings
Extra casting distance is probably the last real benefit of them. As mentioned they allow the spool to start up faster. In turn you can cast the same distance with less effort. Also pitching lures is easier since a lower startup inertia is required. Accuracy is also better since you don't have to cast as hard. I've noticed I use less braking on my reels with upgraded bearings. Reason being is mentioned above. On reels with shallow lightweight spools they really seem to shine the best. They can be ran without any oil so you don't have to keep them lubed. With ceramics no oil makes them louder though. For some it's annoying. Anything over the abec 5 rating is not needed. It's purely an enthusiast upgrade in my eyes. Are they worth it? That's really up to you. A deep reel cleaning from a professional would be money better spent honestly.

Is A Swimbait Rod Necessary?
For a 3oz bait the answer would be yes. My Okuma Guide Select H is rated 1-6oz. It throws 1.5oz baits so so, and 3oz baits very well. I only have baits up to 4oz and those start to make the rod feel a bit overloaded. Anything more than that and I'll need to buy the XH rod.

Kayak Bass Fishing!
My friend has the 10' muskie angler. Not a bad little yak to get you off the bank. I think he paid $479 shipped from Amazon. Came with a paddle and rod holder. It's very bare bones though. The seat is very thin, and the hatches are less than optimal.

Boca Spool Bearing
Bearing upgrades are not needed. Increased casting distance is not their primary benefit. Easier startup of the spool , and it will help with pitching and ease of casting. Having the reel properly cleaned first will be a better choice.

New "trick Worm" Mod. - Catch More Bass?
Megastrike Shake2 shakey heads stand up every time and will never fall to the side like other shakey head jigs. Zman finesse wormz will float upright. The no salt zoom trick worms float too. The Zman ones are a pita to get to stay on a screw lock keeper though. A dab of super glue helps a lot to fix that issue though.

Kayak Bass Fishing!
You just have to get over the feeling of being uneasy. I have a 115x and I can stand up to fish just fine. I have ok balance but nothing great. You can put all your weight to one side and it won't flip. It is definitely a weird feeling but you can't worry about getting wet. Waters warm right now anyways. Put yourself in about 3ft of water and go for it. You'll get used to it.
