Do I only need the main/pinion gear from a Fuego? The schematic shows the main gear having holes in it and that leads me to think, I need the plastic drive gear that goes under it also.

He only got the 7" and it'll run you $40. That's 6 bags of gycb senkos. 2 spools of 832 braid,5 Rapala's or 6 strike king cranks. It's about entry level as far as cost is concerned for a hard bait.

My rig would be a bobber,15" of line,split shot,9" of line,hook, and a fat chunk of worm.

I tried doing that last year. I sold off a handful of decent combos to buy a few nice combos. What ended up happening is I now own the same amount of nice combos as I did before.

We'll see I fish lefties so I can already live with it.

I use a med/fast 7' spinning rod. I throw 1/16-1/8 heads using TRD worms or 1/2 of a zinker. #6 yozuri ultra soft. Hasn't let me down yet.

Plus the M1 has the strange reel seat, and the goofy foregrip piece. I prefer my Recon 2 over the M1 my buddy has.

Try looking down the page about 6 topics. Someone has a thread going on about them. One of the members has one,but hasn't fished it yet. Same with me. Can't say anything about it until I put a few hours on it first. It's a $100 rod so I'm not expecting to be knocked out of my shoes. However it'll serve its intended purpose. I looked it over pretty good. Guides are straight, and the wraps/epoxy are done well. It seems to be assembled nicely. I have the 705CB so it'll be for square bills,poppers,lipless cranks,walk the dog baits, and jerkbaits. All of which generate reaction strikes. For me I don't need a super sensitive high dollar rod for those specific techniques. The rear handle is short, and slim. Should work very well for what I need it to.

Nice rods get nice reels. The reel is what is in my hand. The reel is what I use the most. The reel has the moving parts. Something about a high end reel just makes you smile.

Those are a sweet looking reel. No one in my area that I know uses any high end gear. It's all your typical big box store reels. So I've never had the chance to try a nice Shimano. I've owned the CU51E and CH51E but they did not do it for me. I have no idea why people rave about them. Anyhow I'd love to try out an Exsence,Aldebaran,Metanium,Antares,ect

I own 703 733 704 The 704 is my do everything rod. If I'm just going out for a little bit to hit the banks. That's the rod I grab. It's labeled as a heavy, but with the soft tip it doesn't act like a heavy. It gets my vote.

I have no dog in this fight. However calling them a white carrot stick is laughable. Duckett makes a decent rod. Are they worth the asking price for the higher end models? To me no. Much better choices in that $150-180 price range. A friend of mine fishes them. He's a young 18yr old kid. He's rough on gear. That might even be an understatement. He also fishes multiple clubs, and when not fishing tournaments he's fishing just to fish. Also due to his dad loving to fish, and owning a very good business. They go all over to fish. They take 2-4 big trips a year. The boy puts more time on the water than anyone I know. Never once has he had any issues with his Ducketts. Maybe he's just very lucky.

When braid comes to a sudden stop it can snap. I've watched 1/2oz spinnerbaits go sailing off using #50 power pro original. As DVT mentioned it has no shock resistance. In my case it was almost always after pulling a snag free, or breaking off. The line digs in, and when you cast again it hits that spot, and stops. Bye bye lure. Now and then it would be from trying to cast way too hard. Same result generally.

It's part of my late fall routine before storing it.

I cartop my 115 on my Subaru Outback. You don't have to lift over your head. I slide it on from the back. Work smarter not harder.

I use a heavy oil. Like 140wt gear lube for differentials in trucks. I use it for frame bearings,worm gear bearings and the worm gear. Grease will work, but I just feel it doesn't actually get down into the bearings. I use brake cleaner to spray out the bearings. It works quick, and dries fast.

Tie on a mono leader. You can still get bit off though.

#15 braid has a diameter of #4 mono. It's really pretty thin. Braid doesn't do well with toothy critters anyhow. Tie on a leader of mono/fluoro
