I'm really surprised by your thoughts on it feeling hollow and geary. Have you only ever tried the one reel? I thought they felt very solidly built. Ive had 3 total and enjoyed them all. I've heard the same things about the ss sv from people though too. I think mine feels fine and I know you like yours. As they sa,y different strokes for different folks.

The wheels are from a Harmony kayak cart that came with my old yak. It didn't do a very good job of staying in place so I took the wheels from it, and made my own.

Built me a scupper cart today out of some pvc parts. Not bad for $10,some sweat, and 20 minutes of my time. It gets the job done.

I have on finesse setup. Phenix Recon 2 - 713 ml with a Daiwa PX68 and #10 power pro.

This is how misinformation gets spread around. Not to sound like a jerk but maybe you should google some info on fluorocarbon. Some of what you said is true but other parts are not. OP - I use it as a leader where needed, and I have it on 2 reels that have a specific duty. Other than that it's braid for me or copolymer.

More bearings does NOT = a better reel. Any of the 3 you mentioned will work. Choose the one that offers the features you are looking for and feels the best to you. Pitching is a way to present a bait. You can pitch anything you choose. Plastics,cranks,jigs,ect

I'm a big fan of the Endurance series. Max was ok but not great. Better out there for the same $. I had a few Diesels and I was less than impressed with them. Pretty darn heavy compared to their other rods. My Lightning rod shock was a better buy. I haven't used the new 3d series. Unless they come way down I price I doubt I will. I feel there are better buys for the $ with those too. I still have 3 Endurance's though and I can't see me getting rid of them unless they break. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

It's going to be a while for me before I use it. I have 1,800 yards of Yo-Zuri on the way.

Anyone use this stuff? A local discount store has 330 yard spools for $3.99. I grabbed 1 spool but not sure when I'll try it out. Need to know if it's worth stocking up on. They also have Sufix Fuse for $5.99.

^^^ correct I traded a Curado 51 for a tatula and eventually traded that for a Chronarch 51. Now I'm trying to sell the Chronarch to buy another Daiwa. Strange circle :shrugs:

There is no need to turn your centrifugal brakes off when adjusting your spool tension. The spool is not moving fast enough to engage them. As for the magnetic brakes they say to turn them to 0 when adjusting the spool tension. Some do and some don't. The tension knob is NOT a brake though it can slow the spool down. There is really no need to use the magnetic brakes on a reel that has centrifugal brakes. I don't own any dual braking reels anymore, but when I did I would only use the magnetic dial as a quick adjustment when the wind picked up. How the reel is set up now will work for all of your fishing. You already mentioned previously that you were able to cast with the mag dial on 0. You're all set.

I've seen less than a dozen photos confirming the grooving issue. With how many Tatulas that are being used by people, I'd feel safe taking my chances. Plus Daiwa has great customer service so I'd have no doubts that it would get replaced if it did happen. I have owned 3 and they have been fished hard and I've had 0 issues. The spiral wrap guide thing was from TT in the beginning when they first came out. I've heard nothing about it since that initial review.

Without a scale you will never know. Looks like a solid 7lbs to me. Regardless it's a great catch.

I use 2 wraps of electrical tape on all my spools that I run straight braid on. Works great.

Possibly a small air bubble. Hard to tell from the pic, but I don't see it as a big issue.

Those pins on your spool control the centrifugal brakes. Right now 2 are on and 2 are off. Clicking them in towards the spool shaft turns them off. Being new is leave it as is. After you get comfortable you could turn 1 more off.
