Abu Garcia Promax Combo
Why is that? It's not a terrible reel at all. For a beginner it would do just fine. Even for the average fisherman. My friend still uses his along with other more expensive Abu reels and has no problems.

Storing Keitech Swing Impact Fats In A Baggy.
I store my soft plastics in plano boxes, and that includes paddle tail swimbaits. I've seen no ill effects from it. Keitech packages their stick worms in clamshells too.

Shimano Curado 200 I Handle Upgrades
I'm curious as to where you found it for $13? I ordered mine straight from Shimano with the handle nut and retainer. Total was $39 shipped.

Which New Dobyns Rod
I read this statement so much about Dobyns rods, but I just don't get it. Yes, they're light but my Powell Endurance rods balance better, and even my friends tatula combo that I was messing with today. I have a Champion 703,733, and 704 Dx. They are the split grips but being compared to other split grips. Full handles aren't for me. Anyhow back on track. To the OP I would give Dobyns a call. They should steer you in the right direction. Maybe send Trey Harpel a message on here. He's a nice guy who could also help you out.

Kayak Bass Fishing!
Hopefully good. I had to go straight to work after that pic.

Kayak Bass Fishing!
You are correct. It's still new to me as I've only had it for two weeks, but I do like it a lot. Plenty of room for whatever you need to haul around. I'm getting 23mpg which is a huge upgrade from 14. Just know that there are some very common maintenance things with Subarus. Once they're addressed you're good for another 100k. Luckily one of my good friends and someone I got into fishing is a certified Subaru master tech so labor is very affordable and it's done right. Head gaskets Timing belt Water pump

Best Fishing Line For Pitching And Flipping
My line choice is dictated by the cover that I'm fishing. I Iike braid with a fluoro leader the majority of the time. That way I can use straight braid if I'm around heavy cover or tie on a leader if it's more open water fishing.

Replacing Handle Knobs On Daiwa Hsta
I'm not familiar with that exact Daiwa reel but you pop the caps out of the ends of the knobs. Then use a screwdriver to remove the screws and pull the knobs off. However some Daiwa reels have the knobs rivited on and they can't be removed. In that case you'd just have to purchase a new handle. The Tackle Trap carries a good many factory Daiwa handles. You could also upgrade the handle to a carbon fiber one or a longer stock handle. For instance putting a Tatula handle on your Hsta. I've also never been able to find just stock Daiwa knobs. Daiwa sells the complete handle assembly and not the knobs by themselves. You'd have to purchase a set of knobs offered by Rcs or Slp works. A lot of people upgrade their knobs so there's a chance you might be able to find a stock set that someone isn't using. I have set from a Zillion 50th that I would hook you up with.

Novice Question On A Bait Caster
Spool it with mono first. It's inevitable that you're going to backlash. Some of them may be so bad you have to cut off your line and re spool. A trick that might help is once you spool it up to walk off about 40 yards and put a piece of tape on the spool. That way when you do backlash it will only go down to that point on the spool.

A New Leader In The $150 Baitcast Price Point ????? Sort Of
That sideplate was also known to crack but that's neither here nor there. The SS SV has a zaion handle sideplate as where most other Daiwas have a metal handle sideplate and then a plastic non handle sideplate. So they feel nice and solid. This reel is said to lack that solid feel due to the zaion and plastic sideplates.

A New Leader In The $150 Baitcast Price Point ????? Sort Of
The SS SV has a Zaion sideplate and dragstar. Some say it has a cheap plastic feel to it. I bought one tonight. I'll see in about 2 weeks.

Paid The Piper On Cleaning Reels
I have the one you're talking about that touches the spool. I always put tape around the spool to keep the line from coming off so I already have tape in my hand so it's only an extra few seconds. They have a version 2 available now. http://spinningist.com.ua/goods_Hedgehog_Studio_Tool_Spool_Bearing_Remover_Ver.2.htm

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Scored a Daiwa SS SV for a really good price, and as a bonus it has a $65 set of Slp works knobs. Been wanting one of these for awhile now.

Huddgill Rigging
The appeal of the Hudd gill to me is its weedless design. From what I've seen most people haven't had anything bad to say about the hook up ratio of the gill. Most actually say it's quite good. I did read that an upward hook set works best. If I have troubles I might give this a shot. Thanks for the tip. There are a lot of reports of it not running straight though.

Help!
Your best bet would be to find a rod builder that's close to you. The repair should only run $10-20. Unless Shimano is going to send you a whole new rod you're going to have that much in shipping. Then if you don't have a rod tube you'll have to pick up one of those too.

Bearing Upgrades On Less Expensive Reels
I'm glad you are happy with your purchase. That's all that really matters in the end. I have them in all my reels but don't notice any real difference except in my bfs reels. Free spool time doesn't exactly equate to any real on the water gains.

My Old Dog New Tricks Thoughts On The Features In Todays Equipment
Daiwa isn't a company that offers reels with dual braking. They have probably the best magnetic brake system. That's what they're known for. Magforce Z V 3D. Though the Lexa only had standard magforce brakes on it.

Huddle Gill Update
^^^ I very much agree. Especially that last line. I know if I didn't have a job I wouldn't be buying a $30 hudd gills,$300 reels, or a 1,000 kayak.
