  1. I started using straight 50 lb braid for jigs this summer. its worked pretty well for me and the lakes I fish are choked with weeds by late july so I really dont think it bothers the fish. i started using 15 lb sufix invisiline fluoro in the spring and that worked pretty well too, but fluoro definitely doesn't hold up as well as braid when you are fishing lay downs or brush, which is what a lot of people do when they are fishing jigs or plastics. if you are gonna fish jigs with fluoro, at least use 15 lb or above.
  2. I agree haha. the lakes I fish have a million 13-14 inch pike and whenever I hook one deep, I usually just get it out with needle nose. but i'm not gonna destroy a 10 dollar crankbait or a nice spinnerbait just to save a pike
  3. I was up near lake tomahawk last week, didn't expect it to get that cold. caught a lot of northerns but only about 10 bass. explored a lot of the smaller lakes and caught some smallmouth from shore. still was a nice week though
  4. yeah I would say that it really depends how big your boat it is. on the other hand I saw a guy pulling a 14 ft aluminum with a ram 3500 dually last week. if you're only using it for towing I would pick whatever you like the best
  5. i had the promax for a while. its a solid reel for the price. it handles 50 lb braid pretty well. I've never used the pq but it sounds like a pretty good deal for the price
  6. we kill them on these things in northern wisconsin. nothin beats a white mr. twister on 1/32 oz jighead for crappie and bluegill
  7. this has happened to me a few times. I usually take a pair of needlenose and pull as much line out of the fish as I can. better than having the fish swim around with line coming out of its butt
  8. anybody catch anything lately? we've started to get a few on frogs this past week. I'm gonna be back up in a few weeks and am gonna hit the deeper water
  9. I really like the outkast and dirty jigs swim jigs. They both come through cover really well. as far as trailers, you can pretty much use anything as long as it has some sort of movement. skinny dippers, smaller swimbaits, single tail grubs, double tail grubs, craws, chunks. i usually use a craw or a chunk type bait when I want to move more water and slow the jig down more. with lighter swimjigs i use a single tail grub so I can move the jig faster towards the surface. i throw them anywhere, at docks, lilly pads, trees, rocks, and anywhere I would throw a spinnerbait. its a great bait that draws a ton of reaction strikes
  10. if you only have a spinning rod, you could try using a lighter weight buzz frog like a stanley ribbit or a zman frog. both of those are fairly light weight and you could probably get away with throwing them on a spinning rod. maybe also try a smaller buzzbait, just aim for the openings in the pads.
  11. How much does the lure weigh?
  12. same problem with me, I can bomb a 3/8 oz spinnerbait with the 7'1 MH a mile with it with two hands though
  13. I have been using 1/0 owner wacky hooks for the past year. I've caught a ton of fish with them and most of the time the fish gets hooked in the corner of its mouth. I've never guthooked a fish using them
  14. 6' med. lt action st. croix triumph. I have one and use it for smallmouth and crappie. get some light braid and its a good combo. Im pretty sure they make the same rod with a light and an ultralight power.
  15. start muskie fishing if you have the money.. its hard work but its fun. otherwise I would use it for big swimbaits
  16. still a nice fish... and a lot of fish that size fight like a 4 lber
  17. It started for me last night. wonder why it started later for some people
  18. it started? i didn't get an email or anything and the website doesn't say anything
  19. green pumpkin for everything
  20. caught a lot of them in the weeds on the smaller lakes. a few decent ones on tom doyle

I only use gamakatsu skip gaps. they work good and a 6 in roboworm stands straight up with it
  22. I agree, everybody says crawford is one of the top goalies, but for being such a great goalie, he plays like garbage sometimes. there is no point in putting in emery though I don't think, he has sat for so long that I don't think its going to be worth it. he had some decent saves tonight, though
  23. hawks played sooooooo slow during that overtime period. bruins should've won that game, but I'm glad they didn't haha.
  24. good luck, hope you get some. do you ever fish any smaller lakes?
