  1. I looked at that boat. lol It's nice man very clean for that year! Congrats it will be a good one! You had it out on the water yet?
  2. That boat didn't happen to come from Anglers in Nicholasville did it?

Yea, then reel with a winch. And not the abu variety...Warn would be a better choice! Lol
  4. Thats the exact same setup i use, only a gamakatsu hook. You must make sure they are rigged perfectly straight on the hook!
  5. Netbait Finesse or T-Mac worms work fine for me. I usually opt for a craw/creature over a worm though...

Give me a 1/2oz green pumpkin jig with a craw chunk trailer.
  7. I fished a tournament this past weekend with water temperatures ranging from 43-47 degrees. We figured the fish would be stacked up on the deeper points and even on ledges so we spent most of our time deep working jigs, cranks, jerkbaits, and the a-rig...we never did really get them figured out. Turns out the winners of the tournament caught their fish on square bills and rattle traps, fishing them fast in 2-4ft of water. We had a pretty good warm front come through during our practice day and air temps got up to 68 degrees. I took away a valuable lesson from this experience: never be afraid to go shallow and fish fairly quickly even with lower water temps if a warm front comes through and the water temps come up a degree or two. After all it's early spring and these fish know the spawn is just right around the corner so they are going to take advantage of every degree they can by turning on the feeding switch.
  8. Promax out of these two no question. I had a silvermax for only a few trips before the flippin switch messed up. If I were you I would drop just a little extra cash if possible and get an Lews speed spool or BPS PQ. If you really want an abu, the orra sx is a decent reel for just a few more bucks. Any of these will last much longer than the silvermax.
  9. Power Pro works fine for me! 50lb on my jig and frog rods and 65lb for the rig.
  10. I have had the exact opposite experience as this! LOL
  11. 1. (Obviously) White/Chartruese 3/8oz double willow 2. Blue glimmer shad pattern 3/8oz double willow 3. Bluegill pattern 3/8oz double willow. 4. Black/Red 1/2oz single colorado for muddy water and night fishing 5. White/Chartruese 1oz large single willow "ledgebuster" for deep slow-rolling 6. 1/2oz double willow with skirt removed and a swimbait threaded on the hook (shushhhh ) These 6 choices can cover all water depths and temps, as well as account for clarity and forage species.
  12. What RW said^^^
  13. Scratch the jig heads and use weighted screw-lock swimbait hooks. You won't be dissapointed...
  14. Very nice needs2hunt. Please keep us updated, specifically on the deck extension process as a buddy of mine has that exact same boat and is looking to extend his deck this winter as well.
  15. #1) Jig #2) Shaky Head #3) Some type of moving bait, be it a spinnerbait, crank, etc.
  16. You can even pitch spinnerbaits with lots of success...
  17. I have a jacket made by Milwaukee power tool company that is heated and it is GREAT. It runs off of their small drill battery, which is housed in a small zipper pocket on the back. The jacket has a high, medium, and low setting but regulates itself once you turn it on. It gets very toasty when layered under bibs or waders when I'm duck hunting. Definitely worth the money!! Oh and the battery life surprised me as well!

Finished 2nd in a small club tournament a week ago. All keepers but one came on the rig. Water temps still running from 62-67...
  19. Green Pumpkin and Black/Blue.
  20. Strike King series 5 or 5XD works well for me.
  21. Thanks for posting Bobby! Very interesting presentation that I had never even considered...
  22. For $100 I would go with either the PQ like others have mentioned, a Lews Speed Spool, or an Abu Orra SX. All 3 are great reels for the money, just handle all 3 and see which you like best.
