  1. If things go as planned, we'll be trolling gizzard shad behind an egg sinker and leader on Lake Ouachita. Besides landing 747's, how do you boys do it on the Hudson?
  2. The Humminbird 598ci HD SI at BassPro is selling for $799 minus a $100 mail in rebate. Sounds like a deal to me!
  3. Don't know how many of you guys fish for Stripers but I've gone on a guided trip once a year for the last several years. We don't always catch a lot or the biggest but I like going. My personal best is a 33 lb. It was a monster. I would be happy with a 20+ lb but we'll see how that goes. Just wanted to share with you guys.
  4. I am but I believe my problem is I haven't located them. I know the lake I fish is awesome but I'm having trouble getting on fish.
  5. What would be the point of that type bait in that type of presentation? I don't understand a popper lure 20 feet under water using a sit-and-wait approach.
  6. For some reason the pictures won't show when I use that link.
  7. And this is why I now want side scan. For some reason one of my buddies told me I absolutely didn't want to put one on a trolling motor. I'm sold now. Thanks Wayne P
  8. Holy cow! Is that a creek channel to the left?
  9. I am like any consumer, I want the most that I can get. But, I'd say forget GPS. I have heard people go back and forth on whether it is good to have down imaging on the trolling motor (because it's constantly turning in different directions). Yes, I'd like down imaging at the minimum but if I had to spend more to get side imaging I'd do it.
  10. If you had to spend back of $400 on a depth finder for the front of the boat and run the transducer to the trolling motor what would you recommend?
  11. Texas or Carolina rig for me but I'm learning some good stuff on here.
  12. A deal's a deal. I'd buy it if I wanted it but would probably skip past his name next time he had something for sale. I deal with the public everyday. If I promise something, I have to do it.
  13. Old: Carolina Rig New (to me): Yum Alabama Rig
  14. I am by no means a C-rig expert but I am making a point this year to fish it often. The green or pumpkin seed lizard has always been the standard but I'm going to try some soft plastics that have appendages such as craws or creatures. Something with arms that the current will move. Fish it slooooooooow.
  15. Again, I have a noob question. Any of you guys use the Switchfire mode on your Humminbird unit? Is it better than the normal mode?
  16. One of my co-workers runs a local tournament and fishes several and he fished a tournament Sunday. It was held on a lake that isn't renown for big bass. He caught a 5 lb bass and it wasn't even close for big bass of the day. He laughingly said they didn't even tell him "good fish". Said they looked at it for 2 seconds and said "sorry that's not big enough" and didn't attempt to weigh it. I think there were a couple that were 7+ lbs. He and I got a good laugh because any other day on that lake that would have been a superb fish. Makes me look differently at this lake now. They can be anywhere...
  17. I always catch them on small jig head hooks and tubes of any color. The most disturbing bait I've caught them on was a Bomber crankbait for bass that dove to about 12 feet. The bait was bigger than the fish!
  18. X2 That fish is buck nasty. I bet that fish picks bar fights with bass.
  19. If I find out where everything is made I'm gonna cry. Ignorance is bliss. I don't want to know where it's made. I just want to know if it works.
  20. Wal-Mart has Bomber spinnerbaits for $1.50 in bargain bins. You may want to stock up for cheap just to try a few. I bought two spinnerbaits and two Zara puppy spooks for $6. That was my local Wally World though. Don't know about your area.
  21. If you are a numbers guy your odds are better that way.
  22. Trailer replied to Dyerbassman's topic in Fishing Tackle
Better than Dick's, not as good as Gander. $0.02
  23. Hope you cross some eyes with it!
  24. I've seen this quite a few times. What's wrong with this fish is that it lacks a good breading and deep fry. If you have a fillet knife please operate as soon as possible.
