  2. chautaqua may look common bit amount of pressure and pleasurw bpaters make that lake very tough to fish! that said I love me some MLF!!!!!!
  3. I like to saw " one one thousan" to myself with mono or flouro and then u hit em! with braid I give em a little more time due to lack of stretch with braid
  4. pretty cool! I cant even write my name legably, and I have been practicing that for over thirty years lol
  5. I have both the 7ft Mh casting and a 7ft m spinning premier. I love em both I have a curado on the casting rig,and a stradic 4000 on the spinning rig. they both perform great. are they as light as my loomis or LTB? no but they perform great all day every day. for 130bucks the premier is darn hard to,beat. besides im old school and like solid cork handles vice split grips lol
  6. for a 100 bucks it is toigj to beat the lews laser crankbait. if you like micro guides
  7. win a tourny... get better at knowing when to switch tactics stop over analyzing the conditions win a tourny...
  8. the one with the most good quan in my boat on a particular day. last year my loomis gl2 7ft mh had the good quan, my croix premier also had good quan. my other gl2 and my croix mojo didnt fair to well lol
  9. my advice is to forget about youself for a trip or two and teach him what he needs to do and know to get started I take my friends 10 year old fishing with me all the time and I rarely fish when he is with me. when I do fish it is all instructiinal, and he uses one of my old spinning rigs.
  10. my gen 2 and gen 3 stx were made in korea
  11. what size rod is it and how heavy was your bait?
  12. my buddy bought his girl one...that rod is friggin nice! I actually eish the reg avid was that sweet
  13. many of my salf water buddies were on,the carrot wagon for about six months. after those six months there were nine broken rods. not becuase of abuse either!. they all went back to thier previous favorite rods. they did feel nice but the quality was not even close when it counted most
  14. to expand on st croix... the rage, mojo, eyecon and triumph are all made in mexico most stike king is made in costa rica. I hate that my shimanos and abus are made in asia but d**n I love those reels lol
  15. I like a less sensitive rod for cranks. like a mod or a mod fast action. it helps with a good hookset with a crank imho. with a drop shot rod I want something with a fast or extra fast tip. too much power in the rod can yank out hooks hence why,i like mod or mod fast I currently have a 7ft lews laser crankbait as my go to crankin stick. I would also recomend a glass rod for crankin. for drop shots I want the most sesitive rod I can afford. believe it or not a croix eyecon makes a great drop shop rig, same for a fenwick elite tech. to be completely honest if there is a reason to have multiple rigs for specific tactics it is one for cranks and one for drop shotting.
  16. not just 13. rods from all kinds of companies from berkley, abu, shskespere, quantum, 13, !croix and cortland come into my local shot busted on the truck. why? because the ups, fedex, and other shipping companies just throe crap into the truck and stack all kinds of stuff ontop. they dont care what is in the box as long as it gets to where it is going on time
  17. apparently I am in the minority here. I would fish that lake non stop until I figured it out. I have a similar lake near me. it took me forever to get a clue there but this year finally I wieghed fish in two tournys on that lake. I didnt win but I wieghed fish dammit! and thats a start!
  18. or because you are not far from some of the best smally fishin in the northeast!
  19. every so often I grab a sixpack and walk to a huge private pont not far from my parents house. tons of huge bass and pickerel in there. its nice to have a few beers and catch some fish just for fun snd fun alone plsnning on teachin the daughter how to fish on that pond this summer
  20. the orange underbelly on craw baits could imitate a moulting crawfish. when they moult they have very very soft shells and thus are easy eating for bass
  21. I would check out 13 omens snd Lews I had a mojo and it ok, the *** is way better for the same money I would also check out a fenwick elite tech...super nice for a 100 bucks! the guy that designed the elite tech designed the omens and envys
  22. also I would go with a M or even a ML. I did a lot of battle with snook and redfish in tampa bay with a stradic 2500 and 7ft ML premier. won some and lost some lol
  23. I have a 7ft premier in MH and honestly it is a hair stiff for my liking. it feels much heavier to me for some reason. however it is a great rod! I take it pond hopping with me often and I use for drop shots even thouhh it is slightly heavy for that I have a stradic on mine but a symetry would be great as well
  24. last season a t-rigged sweet beaver in magic craw swirl was my best producer followed closely by a black and blue jig havnt gotten out yet this year
