  1. That is unreal..what keeps those vehicle tracks from silting in?
  2. Between the ice, snow, and the flu, I haven't had a chance to get out all year. That might change tomorrow. I have to come into work for a few hours in the morning and then plan to head out for the first time.
  3. Lipless cranks in a Red Craw pattern in late Winter/early Spring work well at times. That and a jig are my two choices.
  4. I had to pull out a book that I read a few years ago. "Knowing Bass" by Dr. Keith Jones. In the vision chapter there was a sentence that always stuck with me. "Transparent blue--the color we normally associate with cheap monofilaments--might be the least visible". I used CBF long before I read the book, but that sentence adds a little science for you analytical types.
  5. I prefer clear blue fluorescent for it's visibility day or night (with black light of course). I seriously doubt it had anything to do with your line.
  6. I like these. They come through cover great. I fished it more than anything else last year.
  7. Clear blue fluorescent is all I use except for braid. Its great for line watching in all conditions.
  8. Well said Tom... I took away a few things for sure. I pulled out a map of my main lake and marked a couple of new spots that I've never tried that have the 'feeding shelves' next to the channel. Which makes me think, why are those important vs a steeper drop without the ledges? I was just watching a fishing show and he mentioned the shelves as well, but no reason.
  9. Does anybody remember the original question..lol?
  10. Thanks Roger for the compliment..what more do you see on this structure?
  11. Ok, now that we got the what, let's do the how. Sit deep, cast up shallow? Vice versa? How would you approach it? Pull up and start working it or idle over looking for stuff?
  12. I have this and like it for the most part, but most of the creeks off the main lake don't show up on my lakes.
  13. That's a great spawning bay. I fish KY lake several times every year in the spring and I always seem to catch bigger fish in the spawning bays that have deep water. After the post spawn, I'm not sure. Would that deeper water at the front of the bay hold fish year round?
  14. Yeah, let's see that entire bay in more detail. This is a very good structure thread.
  15. Not the main marked channel, the channel/ditch...whatever you want to call it. It looks like a secondary creek channel to me that cuts back through the bay.
  16. Question...between the point in question and the little island to the lower right there is a 20 ft creek channel that goes about a 1/4 way back into the bay before it narrows and comes up. Is that a place you would look in the Summer (night?) Or is that primarily a pre/post spawn spot? Thanks
  17. I have seen at least one tv guy with a big orange hat with T call these secondary points off the main point. So don't get caught up in the terminology. The bass don't care. Recognize it as good structure. If you find cover on it..it just became a little better.
  18. That is the key. I keep 3 marker buoys in the boat, I'd drop one on the hump, another on the steep drop to the channel (about where the top red lines are). That helps me with the layout. How I work it would depend on the situation but Id be dragging a C-Rig and jig through there for sure. Don't forget those inside corners of the visible part of the point too.
  19. I know it sounds strange, but I like a c-rig. Most people hate it. But there is something about dragging the old ball and chain around that I like.
  20. I have never seen this. So stuff a tube with another plastic? Might have to try this. For a bigger profile and slower fall?
  21. Lol, I must be using a different Uncle Josh meat. It is very buoyant, it's all fat.
  22. I like it, not as durable as the old pork..but way less of a pain. You have to use the rubber keeper though.
  23. I use Norman and Rapala jointed shap rap almost exclusively when cranking. But I am more of a jig and plastics guy now.
  24. "I talked to a couple of guys at the ramp, they weren't catching anything either"
