  1. When I trout fish I throw floating jerkbaits (x-rap, floating rapala, wyld shiner) silver /black back or rainbow trout color. usually 3-4 1/2" length. I don't have a ton of experience but its worked for me.
  2. Poison. And yes I am serious. Saw them in concert this summer at DTE what an awesome show.
  3. I heard the rumors and was wondering if we would get to see the recipe. Thanks RW I'll be trying it this weekend.

At the Mio Pond I hooked a five pound smallie last year, a huge largemouth that would have gone 5+ easy but lost him at the boat, caught my first muskie out there 10.11 pounds, and hooked my personal best pike 7 pounds. There are however absolute mosters in this lake. I have a freind who snorkles for lures and he says there are some gigantic fish in there. That said the bigger smallies are a little hard to find, and the largemouth are in better numbers than people think but still a smaller population than smallmouth. The current also makes things difficult for me because I don't have a trolling motor so it tends to limit the areas of the pond I fish. The DNR stock the pond for walleyes every few years and I hear it can be good fishing I just haven't put time into it although landed a nice 19" one last year in the shallows. The pond is littered with hammer handle pike. I have had 11-15 pike days all between 15-18 inches just while bass fishing. If you try it you will most likely see me I am usually one of the only 2-3 people that ever fish it on a regular basis. All the locals belive it's too hard to catch fish out there. I have gone 6-8 hours without seeing another boat out there regularly. If you want to hook up this summer let me know I'd be interested in taking you out, or coming over your way. Thanks for the info. Hope this helps

I usually lean towrds spinners (chart/ tandem willow leaf) And shallow running cranks mann's -1, bagley small fry, x-raps in silver/ black back or bream patterns. It seems I am always catching more pike than bass. Going to focus more on tubes and jig/ pigs this year. I think I have just been fishing too shallow too often. I usually fish the Mio pond out of convienience (5 minutes away), Smith lake, Sage Lake, loon lake, but am looking to hit new lakes this year. What lake is your cottage on?
  8. I fish pretty often out of my grandfathers pontoon and wanted to put a fish finder on it. At the risk of sounding stupid, I was curious how to mount the transducer as the only part of the boat that is in the water is the pontoons themselves. Suggestions?
  9. My friend is traveling to gulf shores alabama next week and was looking to hire a guide or go on a charter for cobia. Can you guys recommend anyone?
  10. I hear ya I can't wait to get out and get some 'eyes. I have a few outings on saginaw bay already planned. The Michigan April 30 opener is awful to wait for.

Yeah thank goodness everything started when I was home so that was great. Although, the hour long ride to the hospital was still pretty nerve wrecking ;D
  13. My wife is teaching an online college course right now. One of her students emailed her and asked which classroom the class was meeting in. Who said there is no such thing as a stupid question!! The funny things is she had to explain this online concept for the first 2 weeks of the class over and over. Ah yes and then there is the funding for education in Michigan... Gas prices... People who trespass... Disrespectful students... People who believe that they are owed everything and work for nothing...

  19. Here he is! I'd like to introduce you guys to my son Jack (our first child). He was born on Wednesday March 21st at 2:29 pm. He was 8 pounds 10 ounces, and 21 3/4 inches long. My wife is doing well and he is healthy as can be. I have to admit it was really hard to come back to work today.
  20. Welcome to the site. I look forward to your posts, I am sure you have a lot of experience to share.
  21. Well I am more stressed than I thought I'd be. My wife's due date is the 21st. Car is packed, nusery is ready. I am haveing a real hard time waiting for labor to start. I am at work 2 hours from home, can't sleep when I am home, can't really think about anything else. I am afraid my wife will have to have soemone else take her to the hospital because I am too far away. I am really excited but just not knowing when things are going to start is driving us both nuts. I'm sure a few of you have been through this. Any suggestions?
  22. I hear you guys, I had a lovely 2 hour commute this morning due to the 4+" of white stuff. Never got over 35 mph. > 20 minutes late to work. I never saw a plow the whole way.
  23. I had reservations about both theories, thanks for confirming my suspicions. Hey HPBB That's a beautiful area you live in, I rafted the Lower Yough a few years ago, what great scenery.
  24. Alright another brittany guy! Do you hunt her?
