  1. I just saw the new Goby swimbaits Storm came out with. They look awesome. Has anyone been using these yet??
  2. You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the input. A few questions for clarification. If I hammer the rivet back down what's to keep it from loosening up again? If JB weld isn't going to hold up because of flexing, I have a friend who owns a collision shop and he has an aluminum welder. Should I just have him weld it? Or do I have to worry about the heat weakening the aluminum?
  3. Hey guys I wanted to get some input before I started working on my boat. I have a 1968 thornes 4 bench aluminum boat. I started having water problems last season and decided to fix it this year before the season starts. I filled the boat with water and I do have a few leaky rivets. Suggestions? I have purchased some rtv caulk, and I have been thinking that JB water weld may be a better way to go. I also have some aluminum welding sticks. Anyone have a better idea or experience on this?
  4. No kidding? I tried Wakely last year for the first time and had a riot. I ended up making sereavl trips there after that. Too bad we can't fish it until Jun 15. Do you take a canoe or kayak? I wheel a old jon boat on a makeshift cart down there. I have had a setback. > I checked my aluminum boat for leaks and the entire center seam is seeping. The boat is 40 years old so I am sure things have dried out. I'll be using the trusty RTV caulk and I'll retest tomorrow. If this doesn't work I may need some suggestions.
  5. Hey Ballistick those crappie can be real challenging, don't get frustrated by catching those bass I saw open water on Lake Margrethe today in Grayling on the way to work. NO ICE! I am getting my boat around this weekend and I may be "crappie" fishing by next Wednesday. I have a buddy from Novi who will be in town. A-Jay where in Otsego are you fishing? I live in Oscoda County and work in Antrim. Paragon where do you head to when you come north?
  6. Thanks to all of you. I was just trying to get a feel if I should invest (time/money) in this tactic or not. I normally throw fast moving noisy or flashy baits for all my pike fishing too, I was just considering adding something else to the arsenal. The baits I love using are a chartruse and white tandem willow leaf spinner, a floating wyld shiner in the chrome and black and the storm swim shad.
  7. I was wondering if any of you guys read the article in In Fisherman about a month ago about fishing for pike with a float and jig? Anyone tried this? Or have a comment? I may give it a shot soon as season opens here.
  8. Hey fellas I am just out of my mind waiting for the opener. Its been such a long, cold, awful winter here in Northern MI. Many of our lakes still have ice. Where are you guys planning on going for the opener? My wife and I will be on Sage Lake in Ogemaw County. 10 days and counting...
  9. I have had success throwing smaller floating original rapalas and other hard jerkbaits in black/silver or trout patterns. Works well even in skinny water on the Au Sable here in northern MI. If you like throwing tubes rig them weedless and throw them weightless (put a barrel swivel on to reduce line twist) and just cast up stream and let them float down and watch your line. For some reason they smack it. I don't know it its the action for the current or the slower fall... I never thought it would work when I first heard it but I am a definite believer now. Hope this helps, good luck. Post some pics and give us a report when you can.
  10. I am ready for spring too. It was -6 this morning on my way to work in Northern MI. Bring on the sun and open water!!
  11. Hey fellas I am looking for some suggestions. I am visiting Branson the second week of June. I will definitely be trying Taneycomo this year (and would welcome any advice you may have) but I was wondering if there are any smaller bass lakes in the Branson area that I could hit while I am there. I am not going to be able to afford a guide on Table Rock so any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Logger
  12. I got a Daiwa D-Force spinning reel at K-mart for $2.00!! They had it in the computer wrong so they had to give me the price since it didn't have a tag on it. Hey I know its not the best reel but its a decent back up. Unfortunately that was the only one they had in the whole store.
  13. Culprits 7.5" Black shad
  14. I have had really good luck with Cabela's co-polymer line. Its tough, low memory, and very easy on the wallet. I don't know about blacklight visibility
  15. My dad's side is Polish my mom's side is English/ German The Polish is obvious with my last name being Sieszputowski I was born in Detroit and raised in the suburbs.
  16. Too bad, I thought it was a great idea. Thanks for letting me know
  17. We have a projected high of 18 today here in Northern MI. Yesterday it didn't get above 10. We have a heat wave coming this weekend and its supposed to be in the mid 30's. I will be attending tip up town at Houghton Lake this weekend hopefully its not too cold. I love Michigan but man I hate these winters. Its the worst time of year in my opinion. Can't bass fish, can't bird hunt, too cold to even work outside on the boat. I am actually going to hit one of the rivers in 2 weeks with some buddies for some steelhead just to get some casts in. Anyone trout fish in the Boyne Mountain area? have any suggestions/ locations for this time of year??
  18. Hey guys I haven't been on the site a whole lot lately and was wondering what happened to the fishing buddies map? I can't find it on here anymore and was hoping to find someone to fish with in MO. for my Table Rock trip this June.
  19. We have plenty of ice as usual here in northern MI. I haven't been out yet. I plan to go out in a couple weeks for my yearly attempt. I will go out punch a million holes, have a few sodas, freeze my tail off and catch nothing. Like every other year. This year I will be freezing on deer lake by Boyne Mountain if anyone has any tips or knowledge of this lake.
  20. Just a heads up guys. Bass pro online has bionic blade rods on clearance for 49.00!! You can print the page an go to the store and save the shipping. But make sure you print the page so they'll honor the price. I just did this last week. Not a bad deal for an $80.00 rod.
  21. I hate black flies, sand gnats and those stupid Asian beetles. >
  22. Now that's a pike!! Holy smokes My best is only 6lbs.
  23. Thats a really nice trout. Interesting coloring.
  24. I couldn't agree more Muddy. Of course managers cannot control the players actual performance but they can determine which players are actually out on the field and when. I think we'll see Torre in a new home very soon, I am curious to see what he will do.
  25. Great fish! I wish my last trip went as well. I broke my prop, trolling motor battery went dead and my pedestal seat broke. To say the least the 1 pike I caught didn't exactly make it all worth while.
