  1. the show called fish tv.? the episode i am talking about is the one where they were fishing for peacocks in brazil. the 2 guys that were fishing were catching some nice ones, but then they weighed a big peacock and the guy starts screaming a 24 pounder. was it just me or was that fish no where near the 20 pound mark? the same guy also caught a fish that he said was easy 8 pounds, but he held it with one hand and it looked to be about 3-4 pounds. unless that guy is 6'7" and weighs 300 pounds, i just didn't see those fish being that big. anyone else see this episode?
  2. i had an hour to kill. threw a speed worm and banged this fat 4 pounder. the only bite i had.
  3. lucky and quiksilver.
  4. it is not over yet smallie king. the weather is gonna be brutal today and tomorrow. lee-9th street canal is where a decent bag is gonna come from. i also believe that deep ridge in harris is gonna produce a nice sack. we'll see.
  5. 20,000 carp were released into broward county waters yesterday. the article is in sun-sentinel.com. the article says that these carp can grow up to 60 pounds. hey fivepoundbluegil, i think its time to make a trip to the sunshine state.
  6. for sure mekanik. i am pretty much booked up with tournys through may. i have spring break the first week of april, but i can't gaurantee i can break away. this summer for sure when it gets roasting hot outside. those gated communities are loaded with monsters-both peacock and large. we'll connect soon.

yahoo don't sweat the haters. chalk it up to cabin fever. those guys are just ticked that you are fishing and they are on lock down because of their crappy weather. now grab your flipflops and go catch another one.
  8. try the delong 14 incher. its fat, long and durable. they cost 4 buck a piece, but here in florida they catch toads.
  9. great job davis keep practicing.
  10. well said lee. a frog bite is not gonna happen on harris. if it does, it will be a surprise. this tourny will be won in the canals or at the openings where the lake meets the canals. i'm with you lee it will be tough. the florida boys should do well, scroggins has a great chance.
  11. the state record was just broken this weekend in one of the residents i fish. a guy caught a 10 pounder and weighed it on a boga. he caught it on a rapala countdown. he threw it back after taking length, girth and photos. it is in the sun-sentinel newspaper. go to sun-sentinel.com to read the article. my hat is off to that guy for releasing him without jumping through hoops to make it official. i am telling you that coral springs has THE best peacock bass fishing in the state. period.
  12. i had a 55# on my 9' basshunter and it worked great! i now have that same 55 on my 17' flats boat and it works great. i am going to upgrade to a 101 when i get more $.
  13. well if you are not afraid to get your feet wet, walk in the water (about 6 inches-1 foot) and dig through the sand and retrieve some clams. crack them open and use the meat of the clam. catches bream, cichlids, and all kinds of small fish. the meat will stay on the hook for a couple of fish. the best thing is they are free.
  14. bobby lane-look out he will be on tour next year and he will win at least 2.
  15. i always try to pre fish, but i do it to eliminate water. if i find an area that has fish, i will not set up on any fish mark it and move on.
  16. IMO 1. stick marsh-clearly the king of the crop. catch and release, lots of wildlife, monster bass, and that 6 mile truck rattlin road keeps some people away. a true treasure. 2. lake istokpoga- i love this lake. i always do well in tournys there and it is loaded with big fish. 3. lake kissimmee- i like kissimmee because it offers many different options as far as vegetation, creeks, and rivers. lake okeechobee is still up there. there are some toads being yanked out of there, i just hope SOMEONE can get the right formula together and restore it back to the greatest lake in the state that it once was.
  17. i kinda don't get what you mean? what impact does that photo represent?
  18. i am also in favor of october, as long as it is not the second weekend.
  19. i don't think they are taking over, just moving further north. i believe they are adapting to the winters better than when they were first put in dade and broward countys in the 80's. i have been fishing the same lakes in nw broward county that have amazing populations of peacock and largemouths coexisting nicely. the snake heads and oscars are what i worry about.

lately i have been dead stickin them. throw them behind the pads and just let them drop. twitch twitch drop.
  21. that is great steve! i love stickmarsh and i wish more lakes in florida would adopt that approach of catch and release only. great day!
  22. whats next? what kind of under wear do you wear? jeesh gimme a break.
  23. if you are fishing the everglades here in florida, it is a MUST have bait. i can't tell you how many big bass i have caught on a big spook. i always change the hooks as soon as i get one though. the hooks that come on them tend to be very dull. okie shad is a great color.
  24. bassin that sounds great! i wonder if we can get permits to fish the property. someone on this forum has to know a connection to get us in there. hook it up bassin---hook it up!
