  1. The slurp..set it. The tackle wait for it. I fish my frog ona 7'0 Fenwick HMX musky rod with 50 pound braid I can sling it a COUNTRY mile and It has the backbone to drag em out of there.
  2. I am going to add a couple to my frog arresnal. I did find some frogs on Ebay I am going to get as well. They are about 5.00 each.
  3. That's like asking a woman how much she spent on shopping. no where near going to get the truth..You want the truth for me It starts with an A and ends with LOT!
  4. Big black spinnerbait with #5 hammered copper blade. Can't find them anymore so I buy all the stuff from Jans and make them myself.
  5. I jut got done installing a Power bubbles air pump and lines in my livewells. I was looking and it has a single 1/4" thick fiberglass board separating the two boxes. I thought about taking a hole saw and drilling a half a dozen holes in it to improve water flow between the boxes. I like the seperation there so I can put an unhealthy fish alone and let her relax. Would there be any advantage to doing this or more importantly disadvantage to doing this?? Thanks!
  6. I find my best success with a short 6-6'6 MH rod. For me it is strickly a target game. Sometimes I cast sometime I pitch whichever the target is at the time. your not out to impress anyone here... just get the freakin thing in there. I bounce it off stuff, whack the trolling motor whatever it takes. It also depends on what I am trying to imitate as to what area of the water column I fish. If I am throwing a shad or bream swim jig then I fish it off the bottom. If I am throwing a craw type jig I let it fall tot he bottom. In deep water like that, I throw a 1/2 -3/4 to get it down there quick. If I start picking up fish on the fall I drop back to a 1/4 or 3/8 same color to slow the descent and keep it in their face longer. You may also have to play with your trailer, a sweet beaver type trailer will fall slower then say a salt craw. The key to any type of vertical structure fishing is pay really close attention to where those bites come from. Good Luck!
  7. THe fish I fish for don't read bass pro catalogs that I know of. the don't know what the line is nor do they now what the latest gimmick on the market is. the have one gear and that's eat.
  8. Slow it down and tick em off with it. The hook set timing on a frog is crutial. a "slurp" rip it! A "big splash and viscous hit" let them take it for a second or two until you see you line running before setting it.
  9. I like fish I just don't like killing and cleaning em. So I buy them.
  10. I don't run a lot of deep cranks but on my sb's I put a red eagle claw 6 on the front and a black 4 on the back...
  11. That's exactly why I posted this video. I am sure it has been on the net for awhile but I had not seen it. So many things can happen. There are wake board boats that throw a 4' roller off the back, that can travel for a long ways. That's what got me. The antics of those cowboys that are new boat owners make me cringe. The jetskiers are the onae that will get someone in trouble. They are like bees flying around a popcan.I have seen all this stuff while on the water and it can happen to anyone. Out here we have 45 mph speed limit and have to travel our lakes in a counter-clockwise travel. Which makes the center of the lake very very rough. There are times when you can hardly keep your boat on plane without feeling like you are in a wash machine. Bottom line is..it CAN happen to anyone.
  12. This video makes me just sick to my stomach. I recently had an incident when my boat came completely out of the water. Thankfully I have a hotfoot or I may have been in this same situation. I also have quit wearing my Mustang and went back to a old school live vest for the extra padding and security. Scary stuff!
  13. I have figured out if I get a nonboater that chatters like a scared guinea. I am gonna need something from keeping me from going batshit crazy...
  14. I am going to be installing one on my boat to roll some Bottleneck and Jawga Boys music while out fun fishin. I don't have the issue with noise. If my cell rings I just don't answer it. I have been watching ebay pretty inexpensive kits there.
  15. I use 1/4 split shot for my weight with a knot ties on the end of the line if it gets hung up I simple pull the weight off and put a new wight on. cheap and easy.
  16. No I pointed them back underneath the trailer parelel with the ground. Sorry I do not. one utility tractor light from an autoparts store will do it.
  17. I climb my motor all the time. That's the way I get back in. I usually wait for my co fisherman to turn his back before bailing in for a cool off. Always good for a laugh.
  18. Looking forward to it... I am not a fan of having them poke up abive the motor either..my boat barely fits in my garage on the wheel wells I don't need anymore obstecles to watch for haha!
  19. 18' glenn We fish a lot of evening tournaments here. Often the weather will build over the mountains during the hot time of day. Then the afternoons we will get thunderstorms. Most of the time there is wind associated with these storms even if they are 20 miles away. For instance the other night, we fished in whitecaps to the tune of standing on the trolling motor pointed into the wind and not moving an inch. I didn't make a cast for those 20 minutes. I need something...
  20. Yes had two mounted on the sides of my hitch for loading and unloading my duck boat. They worked great.
  21. I had the same problems. I installed an electric fuel pump on mine. the down side is it is a 12 psi pump I need about 7. When idleing across no wakes it will load up and not want to jump right out of the hole. But once it unloads it hauls ass!
  22. Thank you all for the time you put into your posts. very informative!! If I opt for the power pole which model should I go with? I will be fishing a tournament on Saturday with several other boats I may have to look at them and talk to the owners may be the best option.
  23. I got in a situation the other night where these would have been REALLY handy! I think I want to put a pair on my boat over the winter. I am not sure which ones are the best? Which ones would be the easiest to install on my boat. I have a 92 ranger commanche with a CMC power lift jack plate. Thanks Chris
  24. I was thinking about something similar the other day while up in the skinny fishing frogs over weeds.I don't use my trolling motor I use a pushpole to sneek up on them all ninja style. next year I will have a couple of talons on my boat.
  25. I fish a jig a lot. Great way to feel what the bottom is by dragging it.When I was learning it. I would close my eyes and use my sense of touch after awhile you will be able to distinguish what is a bite and what is structure. You will automatically jerk at the right feel
