  1. I had to watch a youtube video of that machine but that thing is slick! I am ordering mine today!! Thanks for posting that.
  2. I look over at my non boater with a serious face and say.... No screaming!!
  3. I too have been struggling with the cost of a shallow water anchor. I am researching them all and struggle with the fact do I really need one. I too would like to upgrade nmy trolling motor to a 24v 80 lb. at some point. I would use that more than a SWA.
  4. Felix I got a couple molds off ebay myself and gathered up a buncha wheel weights..One of the guys at work is a bullet pourer so he is going to come by and show me how to clean them up and pour them. I have been putting an order together thru Janns for skirt stuff. May I ask whats on your Christmas list I should be looking for?
  5. I have began my winter projects... Getting the boat ready for ice off 2014. My boat is almost done completely. I am installing a dual blinker switch for my jack plate and trim on the steering wheel. Installing a recesses trolling motor pan in the bow. I am going to install a 1198 on the front and a 998 on the helm with ram mounts. When they come on sale in the spring. Last but not least a stereo to play me some Jawga boys music while cruising down the lake. In betweenst all that we have begun organizing tackle and splitting up plastic baits. What are you guys planning on or working on thri the off season?
  6. There are a lot of boats that come to mind. I like the older ones like the late 90's Gamblers that were the sportscars of the era. I would probably build a big shop and become a rescue for old bass boats. I mean what the hell they got em for horses. haha I like the new boats they are very nice but the pricetag turns me off! I have decided to keep my 92' Ranger and deck it out with all the fancy stuff the new ones have like great electronics power poles etc. When the motor craps I 'll buy a new motor for it. As long as the hull is good.
  7. The old Missouri craw was always one of my favorites!! I wish I had back all the warts I have lost in the timber of Table Rock over the years. Take a look at OSS custom baits. he makes all my stuff...trust me I have a boat load! I have no affiliation with him but a custom bad ass crank bait for 12.50 is not a bad deal anymore. he'll make you anything you want and repaint other baits as well.
  8. I throw a shad square bill almost exclusively during the fall up shallow. I also would rule out a buzz bait. I caght my biggest fish of the year on one about 3 weeks ago.
  9. Rod low to water and just keep crankin em. It is like halter breaking a steer. If you keep his he coming his body will follow.
  10. ford vs chevy thing. Ranger for me!
  11. Look at waterfowl hunting gear. Thats what I use. I fished yesterday in 35* and 20 mph winds. Worked great and caught some fall gorging bass. GREAT day!!
  12. I too have often been tempted to get some clear blanks and put eyes on them. You can buy blanks off of ebay. Where did you find the blanks?
  13. I throw my frogs on a MH Fenwick musky rod because once your fish bury's in the grass your gonna want that cork above the reel to haul em out. That along with 65 lb braid. I can throw it a country mile....no kidding. This is crutial when wanting to get into the very back of coves.
  14. That's great man! Don't worry about the things you don't like in your boat. I want certain features in my boat too but unwilling to pay $77,000 to get them. Enjoy your boat
  15. clear water is fluke water...
  16. I have a connection at Indian point Resort that would LOVE to house us...if it is at TR I am all in... I would say April for the fat sallies sitting on Beds.
  17. A lot of good tips have been shared. I would say the most important for me is to just learn "Bass". I ask myself every fish why that fish was there? Was it cover? Was it actively feeding? What made that fish attack my bait? Then to expand that I learn seasonal positioning to where that fish may be. Will he be next to a dock during high sun or out in the middle of the cove. The answer may be different in April then it will be in August. Then with this will morph into learning specific baits that will produce bites at certain times of the year. For me for instance a hollow body frog is not a good choice in February but is a go too bait in July. I learn on every fishing trip. But have came a long ways. I can often target specific spots to present my bait and will get a bite just by my intuitions that I have learned. There is not bait or rod and reel combo that will make you a better fisherman, it is all things learned about it that will make the difference. GOOD LUCK!!
  18. Those are probably deep clear lakes. For those I choose the most realistic looking cranks I have in my box. I have went to custom painted cranks over the last few years and I really think it makes a difference.
  19. I chunk empty beer cans into the water as a token of appreciation to the water gawds. With hopes a mermaid will show up on my side imageing.
  20. Sorry for the delay we have been out of town Elk hunting. Lonetree is good early in the AM and PM right now on Buzz baits. The best way to fish it is with a boat but plenty of shore op's there as well. It has several 3-4 lb fish some will get to 6-7 In the spring when the weeds are showing it is a hollow body frog bait bonanza. I am out of town next weekend but I'd be more then happy to get you out there in the boat before real cold weather hits.
  21. Check out OSS custom baits. I don't have anything to do with him other then he makes all mine. For the same price as a lucky he can make you anything you want. he makes some SICK stuff!

I too fish them many different ways. One of my favorites is when fish are suspended in less that 10 feet of water. I cast it up in the skinny then let it hit the bottom. I stroke (full stroke of rod from low on the water too high in the air) it and let it fall back to the bottom. I feel the fish follow it down. If they don't eat it on the fall, then when it rips off the bottom like it is running from them. They reaction strike it.
  23. PS also might try to join a bass club. Centenial bass club is out of FC. They run a lot of tournaments and are a great bunch of guys. You can go as a non boater and have a chance to fish and learn some of the local lakes.
  24. The nearest "decent" lake that is Public is either Horsetooth west of FC or Douglas west of wellington. You might have to drive a bit but we fished Lonetree today and all did well.
