  1. Starting all over the first thing I would do is join a local bass club ass a non boater. Don't worry about being competitive just go out an learn from everyone. Chances are every boater has been around the game awhile. Each will have their strong suit and watch and ask questions. You will get to know your way around a bass baot so hopefully someday you get to a point where you want to own your own boat. I am going to spend my time on the water this year only taking one tackle box at a time leaving all other tackle at home. I go out with the intent of learning something new. Evemtually I go back to my same old confidence baits that work for me. Rarely do I fish out of the my zone, WIth all those boxes of meaningless lures that have never seen water yet we carry them around and never get to learn them.
  2. I am getting more and more crap floating around in my boat. Crap like uncle josh pork, spike it pens, dips, fish attractant pump bottles, etc. I need a way to store them all in one place. What is the best way or organizer to take care of this and keep it from being a big mess?
  3. I'd paint the belly black with a perement marker.
  4. BASS does more damage to the sport of bass fishing then anything does.
  5. No wonder they can't ever get the warroom to work right...
  6. Rookie of the year last year...Angler of the year this year.
  7. White spinner bait with a big single hammered silver Colorado blade is always a place to start for me.
  8. Has anyone ever tried to make their own blades out of big Colorado blades? I have some laying around might try it. I need to start making my own. I like fishing them but if I get them anywhere close to cover I hang them up.
  9. I mentored a girl named Mayson Rae thru hunters safety a few months ago. We attended the whole class together and I told her if she passed I would take her turkey hunting in Nebraska. We arrived at our place in Nebraska on Thursday afternoon. I had some projects to do that I needed help with and we would then go turkey hunting on Saturday. Friday afternoon we could not find anything on our private stuff so we elected to head over to the public land and have a look. We found a few birds to hunt and figured we would go after them. Saturday by 30 minutes after days light there were trucks driving all over the place turned into an all out ZOO! We decided to go find the birds elsewhere. We did a lot of driving around that afternoon and found a small group of birds on our private stuff. We parked the truck thinking they would be eventually be heading towards some bigger trees in a windbreak on an abandoned farmstead. We snuck in and got set up. The birds kept walking and were soon right by where we parked, just off the county road in the farmstead driveway. I watched as they all piled into a tree above my truck. There was still some time so as we walked back to towards the truck they jump out of the tree and across the county gravel road. We made it up close to my truck but keeping and old grain bin between us. I started calling and they came back walking past my pickup. I said when he steps up that bank you shoot but DO NOT shoot my truck! He came up the bank 5 yards off the back bumper of my truck. She shot and missed both my truck and the bird. They ran about 400 yards around the windbreak and jumped up in the tree we were originally set up under. So we left them alone to roost for the night. The next morning we got in there well before light and set up the decoys. The birds did exactly what they were supposed too. Except for one little hiccup. The dreaded woven wire fence. At 80 yards they paced back and fourth walking past an open gate twice. The only on to make it thru was a young hen. She came up to us and got within 3 yards behind Mayson. I was whispering... Mayson DO NOT MOVE! The little hen could not figure out why the decoys would not move or talk back to her as she tried to be their friend. The birds finally all moved on without coming in. We left them for the day to settle down and the wind began to blow. That afternoon we found them in a hole in the windbreak protected from the 40 mph dirt blowing wind. I told her get your gun, we are going to sneek em. As we got closer they started to get nervous about these blobs crawling thru a pasture. I thought to myself after all the perfect setups that haven't worked this is NEVER gonna work. As we got to within 60 yards of them they hens started walking, we were protected from view by one cedar tree. I told Mayson to get up on her knees behind the bush. The birds then walked single file past us 6 hens but no gobbler in sight. She had been holding my 12 gauge auto up rock solid for close to 10 minutes. I could see her arms shaking and she said where is he? I said I see the top of his head get ready. About then they hens started putting from 25 yards and he picked his head up above the grass. About the time SHOOT came out of my mouth the gun went off and the bird went to flopping. Thinking he was going to get away she dump two more shots into him before I could say stop! Let me tell you she has told this story to everyone whom would listen! She already asked if she could come again. This time she wants to do it with her bow. Ofcourse... I said yes. 18 lb gobbler with a 6" beard and 3/4" spurs.
  10. I'd be looking in the back of coves for beds If that didn't work Id be fishing a trap/craw crank around some sort of structure off the main lake and secondary points.
  11. I got one for Christmas and will be getting another probably a silver to run full time on the front deck. I built a attachment for the top of my push pole that fits in the back hole of my boat. I can't wait to put it 12' in the air for frog fishin!
  12. I bought mine off ebay i think it qas $80 for a metal one... worth every penny!
  13. Wasnt the rod i fish buzzbaits on my H flipping stick all the time. I can sling a big buzzer and hit the nxt county
  14. Its the same color as my legs...
  15. I dont know the only time I ever break a fish off is on a really expensive custom bait...
  16. Thanks for your time Jig Man. I will look into that. We fish 8-10 small reservoirs that aren't near big enough to be on a map chip. Most of which are mud bowls with very little contour or structure. For this I am thinking about creating my own by use of 2 gb card. I can buy them in lots of 10 off ebay for about $2.50 ea. Then would carry them in my fishfinder box and get to the certain lake and pop in that chip. Would probably be easier this way they trying to load and unload waypoints from day to day. Any idea on how many waypoints a guy can store on a 2 gb chips? Thanks
  17. Holy runon sentences... my high school english teacher would be proud
  18. I recently got a new elite 5 dsi. It is my first gps unit,so they are new to me. I am getting a 2gb card for it but am curious as to how i can take the waypoints off the card each tournament and store them in a folder on my laptop then reload the card with the next lake. What system do you guys use to get past the waypoint clutter? Thanks
  19. Frog toggs from walmart works fine 29$
  20. Pinch the little rivet below the blade, between it an the bend, with the cutter on a pair of needle nose to make is stay in place. It will make em squeek like crazy. Buzzbaits are all about noise
  21. Chomper watermelon twin tail catches em when nothing else will
  22. Takihero omaera (sp) often fishes a ds on baitcasting gear so it ia not essential but spinning gear is the norm. One of the biggest mistakes i made when i first picked up a ds rod was i felt like I needed to shake it alot. In reality you dont have too. I now try to hold my rod perfectly still. Youd be amazed at what just the shakes of youe hand transmits to the bait
  23. When i grew up in southern mo as a kid. When the dogwoods bloomed the spawn was in full swing.
  24. Haha Bennett Springs opening say. I fell for that once. A jig and their boat usually gets the point across.
