Ned head hooks
Thanks small jaw. I opted for $20/1000 570 bronze becuase of the price. The Smalley lake I fish it is not uncommon to loose 25 a day. Chances are good that you will loose them before they dull. I tried some gammy 604 last year and really wasn't that impressed for this application. The point seems to be different and needs a snap set over just reeling into them like I normally do with lighter hooks

CO anglers!
Chatfield is OK. Aurora has some ginormous Smalley's in it. All our lakes are small out here easily fished from the bank. Go ask this on Coloradofisherman.Com some of the Denver guys would have a better idea of ponds in the area. For me if I cant put my boat on it I don't fish it

Two part question about worm molds
P.o.p for a simple trial run i make my other molds out of resin available at any auto parts store for a more permanent mold. Just use gasket maker to glue the worms down to bottom of a small shallow container. Use water to cover to the worms the. Pour that in a measure cup. then mix up that amount of resin/harder and pour it on.

Ned head hooks
I had a bunch of #1 but can't remember the number. They were probably EC. Looking for a cheap sharp light wire. What size and # are you guys using for ned heads thanks

Why don't they throw the Ned?
It is likely they are doing what they feel will get them 5 big bites an not worried about a limit of squeekers. The Ned for me is a limit filler. But can't count the number of times I bring 6lbs to the scale because I spent my 8 hours catching alot of fish vs targeting five big ones.

Unexpected Win?
Every dawg has his day. We won one like that this year. Two good fish in the box rolling back we never thought we had a chance until we got back to the dock and found out fishing sucked for everyone.

Drop Shotting For Smallies (Where Are They?)
Crestliner hit the nail on the head!! Great observations! I use the very same tactics that he does. I don't get caught up in the finding structure oriented smallmouth on my graph. You are lucky if you ever see one as they hide in the rocks. I too look for smelt ( or your lakes food source). My lake is loaded with bait, but it has to be the right bait. Smelt are notorious for suspending 30' down over 80 feet of water. There are likely smalleys with them but you won't see them, catching them is even harder. The may be in the baitball one minute and 25 yards away the next unless they are actively feeding. I find the baitballs that are related to a hump or a point some sort of structure that will give the smalleys a place to congrate to attack the bait. Thus makes the water you fish much smaller and you are more likely to catch them. Also watch for birds. If they are hanging off a certain point. It is likely they have found an active bait ball.

What Do I Look For On My Lowrance In Summer
felix I don't get too caught up in finding fish anywhere. I have a much better chance of finding large bait balls. On the lakes I fish there are tons of them but the ones that seem to produce are the ones related to cover somehow. Rather it be on a brushpile a rock pile or point. Those are the ones I fish vs the ones that are just out suspended. While there are fish with them they are likely hard to locate. Catching a fish or two is likely more luck then skill. If you can corral them by using the structure you know the fish are likely hiding on the cover and swiping at the bait that comes by. Now if I go over a bait ball and see a bunch of lines running up into it. I am likely to fall in the lake during the chaos of trying to get my dropshot rod untangled while I am dropping the trolling motor in.

Bass Federation - Joining
I don't know about your clubs but generally joing a club ($67) pays your club dues and membership into the federation, then if you want to join additional clubs it only costs you the club dues. ($20) I would encourage getting involved with the local clubs as there are usually a bunch of great guys that you build life long friendships with. Good luck!!
