  1. Im no expert, but I've caught them on small jerkbaits/minnow type baits.
  2. Joe's flies! Maybe a mepps 0 spinner. If those don't work the garden worms will!
  3. Like someone mentioned its likely a regional thing and probably also depends on who's managing the store. The 2 stores near me seem to have done their research in what the customers really want for both fresh and saltwater stuff.
  4. Cool spot you got there. I admit I like the music, lol. I used to go clubbing a lot a couple years ago and it just reminded me of it.
  5. I use bugspray and don't know if it affects my fishing, but I do catch fish sometimes. Honestly I don't really get much great days of fishing anyways to worry about it. At least the bugspray will keep me fishing longer.
  6. My best day fishing so far has been in March and it happened to be raining. The weather was mild and the rain was warm. Caught 4 bass and missed a few other hits and got a couple yellow perch, a bluegill, and a couple nice big crappie. Pretty much a bit of everything and I probably could of caught more, but had to leave.
  7. Funniest thing I read/heard all week, thanks.
  8. I been having some good luck with squarebills and supershallow cranksbaits. The booyah top secret buzzbait has been pretty awesome too and jerkbaits like the matzuo phantom minnow and yo-zuri crystal 3d minnow. The bomber 15a is also becoming one of my favorites in the jerkbait lineup.
  9. I found this beat up rattl trap on a jetty late last year. Im guessing it was pounded by a school of bluefish, cause it was clipped onto a steel leader. Haven't got to use it yet, but maybe soon.
  10. It rained yesterday and was fairly warm with some wind. I just wore a raincoat and caught a couple small ones with a wacky rigged senko. I tried a lot of things, but that seemed to be the only thing that worked. But that was only two fish, so who knows.
  11. Ah, I get it now. Just weigh the fish and don't bother measuring it. I will do that from now on. Thanks for all the replies.
  12. I like the Mepps Timber doodle for weeds and junk.
  13. I have a crankbait from a company called brad's lures. I think the stuff they make is geared towards salmon, but the crankbait looks very largemouthbass type lure. Oh, it sounds like it got a ton of rattles too. I got it in Alaska and have not seen it anywhere else.
  14. Thanks. Next time I'll bring a trashbag or something to place the fish on. I wasn't sure where to place em, but thought it be better than on the sand. The fish swam off strong.
  15. I went to Walmart and they have a bunch of hard and soft plastics in the bargain box. All were for $2.50 each. They all seem to be eigther Bombers or Creek Chubs. All the lures in there are for saltwater or saltwater versions of a originally freshwater plug I assume. Picked two bomber 15a's, one is all white and the other is an interesting choice of green. Got a creek chub too with a pink reddish head and vanilla colored body.
  16. I hooked 3 bass today one being a nice 19" and two smaller ones. I started out with a rapala jerkbait an hooked a real small one doing a stop n go, but then it shook off. Switched to a matzuo phantom minnow and got maybe a 10-12" on first cast. About an hour later I saw a good splash by some overhanging brush, so pulled out a megabass griffon zero. I carefully tossed it a little past the spot. Made 4 casts doing a medium retrieve with nothing. Did my fifth and felt a sudden weight. My line started to peel off a bit then the bass came up and did a head shake. I lowered my rod tip and then started pulling down again an did a couple more shakes. Then carefully brought her in close and I lipped her. My biggest bass and finally beat my previous PB of 1.7lbs, lol. I wish there was someone else there to take a proper photo, but had to be content. I also weighed it on a rapala digital scale which weighed it as 2lbs 4oz which surprised me. I checked online for length to weight chart and it said a 19" is about 4.28lbs. Should I just go with the online chart lol? Thanks. smaller one, might as well
  17. Well I really have only one really shallow crankbait and its the megabass griffon zero. I like it a lot and I happen to grab the last one from my local tackle shop so it's pretty poplular. One day Im gonna lose it to a pickerel and I am gonna feel really bad.
  18. Mine get pretty worn up looking after the 1st day of use sometimes. Mostly from sand and rocks with a few bite marks here and there. I dont know about the reflecting light thing and if that helps or not, but I know spoons are good for that.
  19. I like the smell of salted plastics much more then some of the unsalted ones. I caught a bass for the first time on a senko wacky rigged yesterday and it was so small. It grabbed it and swam off and I reeled it in no problem and it wasn't even hooked. Another bigger one tore off my beat up senko and swallowed it. So now I have more faith in using salted.
  20. Nice fish and nice silvery color on it too.
  21. Cool, I would love to get a nice fat one like that.
  22. Sweet fish and they look like tough fighters.
  23. Thank you. It was a enjoyable day and got a nice tan.
  24. Just realized looking at the last pic that the tide was low. High tide may have been better. My next report will be more noteworthy.
  25. Caught my 1st river largemouth burning a kvd 2.5 into rocks by some bridge supports. Was told smallies like hanging around those supports so I thought I got a smallmouth at first. Then after a while I switched to a matzuo phantom minnow and got a small striper. An hour later I rigged a lighther setup and caught 1 white perch on a small tube jig for crappies. The perch was incredibly small. Other then that it was a pretty nice day out with the sun up and little wind.
