  1. Great fish and an awesome story to boot Congrats to you and your dad!!!
  2. Thats a Hawg!!! Congrats on your new PB
  3. Looks like a blast!!! Great Pics.
  4. I like to use a Gamakatsu G-Mag Over-Sized in them
  5. It sounds like you are talking about a similar bait to a SPRO or ScumFrog. These baits are blow molded and would be near impossible to create yourself without a ton of cash.
  6. We've done this many times. Experiment with different types of soft plastics. Flukes work really well when the shad are skippin'
  7. When the temp hits 98* here and the sun is beating down in the aftrenoon, thats when the topwater bite in the pads really turns on around here
  8. A few of my suggestions would be. Try using a black frog or rat, bass seem to hone in on the higher contrast of a darker lure at night. Definately get yourself some 50#-65# powerpro braid. A 7'-7'6 H Fast tip rod will help and set the hook after you feel the weight of the fish. Swing for the fence!!! Just my .02
  9. Its hard to say but at least it wasn't the tongue. Most fish I've seen tongue hooked don't make it.
  10. Another problem with the Titanium is its durability. This is why you won't see too many manufactures making these. Titanium wire becomes brittle in cold water and breaks. A lot of northern anglers were upset to have there $8 spinnerbaits break in the early spring and late fall.
  11. Welcome BassResource.Com basspaddler
  12. For pitching and flippin' I'd suggest a 7,6" MH or H fast tip. This will extend your range considerably and give you the added leverage to get a good hookset and to turn their head in order to get them up out of the cover quickly before they wrap you up. A 6' M action rod just doesn't have the backbone for that, I'd make that your spinnerbait rod. JMO
  13. Black Purple or any other high contrast color. Ribbed worms offer more vibration than smooth bodied worms. If Texas rigging, use a glass bead in between your worm and sinker for added attraction.
  14. Welcome aboard. Nice catch!!!
  15. I don't know about the mouse but I know that Snag Proof makes the "Bobby's Perfect Frog" and the hook up ratio is great on those.
  16. I mainly fish the Mississippi River. I guarentee in a river situation your best fish are up shallow in the shade. Big bass don't like to fight the current.
  17. Generally a new laydown will attract fish fairly soon but then the sap and decay begin it will produce an acidic mix in the surrounding area that will repel fish for a long time. Different trees produce different amounts of acidity and therefore the time that it takes for fish to come back varies from species to species. Pine produces a lot of acidity compared to a maple. I'd say fish it, if you catch fish keep fishing it, if not wait till next year. Just my .02
  18. Everyone needs to blow off a little steam now and then.
  19. I use a 1 oz bass sinker on 50# Braid with a 5/0 Owner hook for smaller plastics and an 8/0(OverSized) Gamakatsu G-Mag for rigging 10-12 inch lizards and worms.
  20. I'd have to say a jig. deep, shallow, jigging, swimming, open water of heavy cover. It'll do it all
  21. I love the action of the SPRO Frogs but the thick body is notorious for poor hook-ups. Try a Bobby's Perfect Frog. Much easier for a novice frog fisherman to hook-up with.
  22. Just curious for those of you that said the Chatterbait. Have you tried any others besides the "Chatterbait" name? If not, PM me, I'd like to change your mind As for the lures that are the most over rated, I'd have to say Lucky Craft. Good lures but not any better than a $5.00 CB JMO
  23. That was really cool, Congrats Bass Resorce for hitting the 10,000 member mark !!!
