Cherokee Open
I know as we drove around the lake I couldn't believe the amount of cover that was 5-15' out of the water.

Bass Pro Shops Crankin' Stick on sale
If you're inclined to spend a little more, the David Fritts crankin' combos are also on sale for $120. The 4.7 reel is backordered though.

Shimano Reels
It is a fine reel and I love mine for bluegill and trout. It has a much better drag than every other tiny reel out there. But IMO it just isn't a good reel for bass fishing.

How does line effect backlashes?
I didn't call you crazy. Sorry you thought so. :-? All I said was that in my experience, I haven't found line to be a factor in backlashes. That said, I haven't found flouro to be that much stiffer than mono.

Shimano Reels
Symetre 2500 is a good starting point.

Shimano Reels
Trust me, you DO NOT want a Symetre 750 for bass fishing.

Cherokee Open
Around 20-30 members. If I'm not mistaken, the age limit is 16. If you want to fish a tourney with me and meet some of the members, just give me a holler. We have night tournaments coming up on 7/14 (Cherokee), 8/4 (Douglas), and 8/19 (Ft Pat). You can fish one club tournament without joining.

Drop shot fishing
This is all you need to know about drop-shotting. Just be forewarned that nose-hooking and brushpiles do not mix.

Berkley Vanish
All I know is that I've not had any problems with Vanish over the last year in 12 and 17 lb. I don't like the price, but I do love the line. If it weren't so expensive (and I didn't have 3000 yards of Hybrid on the shelf), I would use Vanish on pretty much everything. Like I said, if I blamed line for backlashes, I would be sitting at home. If you're fishing casting gear, backlashes are just something you have to deal with. If anything, line plays a very small part in a backlash. It has more to do with reel setup and casting technique. If I backlash, it is usually due to trying to get that extra few yards on a long cast. Or screwing up my arm motion on a pitch.

light gear, huge fish, read all about it **VIDEO**
Those fish are bigger than you Runt. ;D

Berkley Vanish
I've never found that to be the case. I use 25 lb. Big Game on a couple of reels and I haven't found them to be any more prone to backlash.

Switching to Fluorocarbon?
What knot were you using and did you lubricate the line before cinching the knot? Flouro requires a slow cinch otherwise the line will burn due to friction and weaken the line. I use a palomar, slow cinch with plenty of spit. I've straightened 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG's using 12 lb. Vanish.

Berkley Vanish
What does a line have to do with backlashing? If I blamed the line for backlash, I would be sitting at home as they've all backlashed at one time or another.

Cherokee Open
My club (Wise Co. Bassmasters) held our open tournament on Cherokee Lake yesterday. Had 17 boats entered. Took 15 lbs. to win, 6 lbs. for big fish. Same boat took both, pocketing $660 in the process. My buddy and I took his boat out, spent most of the day in Poor Valley. Caught 11 on everything from a green pumpkin senko to a junebug Ol Monster. Only one keeper in the bunch though (2 lbs.) caught on a electric blue Baby Brushhog. Water was around 80*, air temp 64* at launch, 85* at takeout. It was my first time on Cherokee and I was impressed. Blows all of the other NE TN lakes I've fished out of the water.

Whats this Carps weight
15-20 lbs. given my experience.

Berkley Vanish
Good line. If you're paying more than $11 for a 250 yd. spool of Vanish, you're paying too much.
