GOOD EQUIPMENT FOR THOSE OF US WITHOUT A LOT OF $$
When purchasing anything, one must ask themselves one question. Do I want to spend $50 on something that might last 5 years or $100 on something that will more than likely last 10+ years. Society has become very impatient. Rather than wait and save, they go cheap in order to have it right now. And in the long run end up spending more than they would have had they saved to buy the higher quality item. Will a $125 Poulan chainsaw get the job done? Sure, as long as you're only using it a couple of times a month. Take that $125 and put it towards a Stihl or Husqvarna and you've got a saw that will stand up to being used as much as possible for 10 years. In the past I was guilty of having the above mindset. Gotta have it now, so go ahead and buy the cheap stuff. Be it fishing tackle, golf clubs, tools, etc. Over the last couple of years I have come to the conclusion that anything worth purchasing is worth waiting on. If that means that I have to spend a couple of months saving, then so be it. Being on a budget doesn't mean you have to scrimp on things. It just means that you need to be more studious with your funds.

Advantage or Tierra?
Must be a BPS only reel as there isn't anything on Daiwa's website about the Tierra casting reel.

I think you mean Darrell as Mikey never won much of anything save for a few superspeedway races.

Bass tracker pro team 175txw with 25 hp??
It is much better to match the motor size to the max HP rating of the boat. Having said that, if you mainly fish a lake with a 25 HP limit, why hinder yourself from fishing that lake? Will it work? Of course. Tracker sells a ton of boats with that setup. I've seen quite a few on area lakes. Not something I would buy, but I don't have any lakes with HP limits.

Slider fishing
I was chatting with a guy at the ramp a couple nights ago and was told that Slider fishing was the best way to fish that particular lake. Lightweight heads for a slow fall. Other than buying directly from Brewer, is there a better source? BPS has them, but they're higher than Brewer. Is there anyone else out there who makes a slider (or jobee) style head in weights as light as 1/32 oz.? The fish in this particular lake get a ton of pressure and tend to be quite hard to entice. I'm willing to try anything in order to catch more than a couple of fish a day or night.

Least Expensive way to get mobile on the water..
Old Town canoes can be had for less than $600. No trailer required (although it makes it easier).

Shimano Cardiff 300a Brakes...
No it ain't. Happened to me a couple of weeks ago, took 30 minutes to clear that backlash. All because the damned crank hooked on the rod about half a second before I flicked my wrist.

Pimping my ride...
I hate sloppy wiring and I hate crimp-on connectors. I spent about 3 hours soldering those wires and putting heat shrink on the connections. Might have been quicker had I not kept forgetting minor things and having to re-do a lot of work. I just wish I would have taken a 'before' photo of the wiring. It was truly a mess. I still need to trace wires and put on ID tags.

Pimping my ride...
Wiring in my boat is a mess. Organized it a little yesterday after pulling a new wire for a 12V receptacle. Still a mess, but at least it is a little more organized. Those little blocks are great. Also installed a RAM mount at the console for my GPS. The boat may be ugly as sin, but I'm slowly but surely turning it into a boat worthy of a DinkMaster.
