Bring the water up here. The TVA lakes I fish on a semi-regular basis are all 7-22' below full pool. My local haunt could use a good soaking shower as half the lake is covered in scum and pollen. I've got a scum ring an inch thick on the stern of my boat.

I will build you a nice rod. And $500 just happens to be my going rate. Delivery will take place on 7/1/25. ;D

I've been cut breaking line, landing fish and just fooling around. The smaller diameter lines are the worst. I got cut to the bone last year by a carp and 8 lb. PLine CX. Had my finger on the line trying to detect a bite, carp took off with the bait. Without thinking I swung the rod with my other hand and the carp took off. Bled like a stuck pig, but I landed the fish.

IMPO your story is also a good example of why so many spool shafts get bent......May I suggest next time you use a cutoff section of broom stick to pull the line with instead of the reel's spool.Just my .02¢ I was holding the line wrapped in a towel with my thumb on the spool to keep the drag from pulling. All tension on the line was from my hand and the towel. FWIW I wasn't pulling with the rod bent. Straight on away from the bank with the TM maxed out. Exactly how far it stretched I do not know. It was dark and I had no way of gauging how far I traveled.

I have no experience with the SportJon, but after watching their video, I would love to have one.

At least for carolina rigging. Every little rock is felt. Plus with a C-rig I'm less likely to lose the $2 sinker. If only could find a reliable local source. :'( I want to try W weights for T-rigging and drop-shotting, just have to build up the guts to spend that much on something I know I'm going to lose sooner or later.

Throwing a stickbait against the bank last night, using #6 Hybrid Ultra Soft. Throw a little far and get hung in a tree. Couldn't break off by pulling, so I used the TM to pull me away. Line kept getting tighter and tighter, I kept having to bump the TM up a notch. When the line finally gave way, the sound was just as loud as a 22 rifle. And it didn't even break at the knot. Snapped right at the spool.

Went out again last night. Put in around 7, fished till 12. Bite wasn't as good as it was Sunday night. Got my first in the daylight on a weightless stickbait. Fish never tapped, just saw the line move. Fished for another two hours without a fish. Missed a couple of bites. Mainly throwing a black/blue fleck BPS Stik-O against the bank. Moved to a shallow rocky flat that goes from 3' on top dropping into 22'. Throwing a C-rigged GP BrushHog up on the flat and dragging it back into deeper water. Got a nice one pretty quick, then got into a good one that hit as soon as the bait was in the water. Didn't get a good hookset on that one and it came loose. It felt much better than the dinks I've been catching. With an hour left (have to be off the lake by 12), I moved back down to the dam and worked the bank with the Stik-O. Got a couple pretty quickly and that was that. I'm hopelessly addicted. Fishing nights lets me get stuff done around the house during the day and then fish for a while. Will probably go back tonight if I'm not too tired. Going to hit a TVA lake tomorrow night with a friend to try for some walleye.

From the side that fish looks bigger than 7-11, but without seeing the top-down profile, it's just a guess.

I just don't understand going to such lengths to win a grand or less.

Club (Wise Co Bassmasters) has been doing it for a few years. Don't know how many. We exceeded last year's count by about 100. Hopefully next year we can do that again. It was really an undertaking. We drew for prizes for over two hours. We received around $5000 just in monetary donations. All of that went into buying the bicycles and other prizes. We also sold $1 raffle tickets during the day for three drawings. One for $400, the other for the Julius Jones autographed jersey and helmet (Jones is a local boy) and the other for a bicycle. I think we sold $1400 worth of tickets from 7AM-2PM. We use it as a way to get kids into fishing, give something back to the community, and as a way of raising funds for the club.

To give you a frame of reference, this one was 27", 8 lbs. on the nose. This one was 26", 7.5 lbs.
