Will do. Gonna try to get there by noon. Sheeps is a deeper than Hinckleys so I'll guess the water temps might be lower, with exception of the two flats half way across. Word of caution, however, I've fished Sheeps only a few times and haven't done well there. Perhaps tomorrow changes that.

I'm hitting the Cape Tues - Thurs. My plan of attack is Sheeps on Tuesday, Hinckey & Seymour Wednesday, and perhaps Sand on Thursday. Hope to run into a couple members this week. If you see a USCG orange Tundra (with BR bumper sticker) and/or a blue camo Lure 11.5, that's me.

Welcome to the forum. I fish mostly south shore MA down to Plymouth but get to Harwich a few times a year. I'll be there 5/8 to 5/10. Water temps should be in the high 50s to low 60s. I'm planning on fishing Sheep's Pond in Brewster tomorrow. Hinckley's and Seymour , both in Harwich, Wednesday, and who knows on Thursday. They're all off route 6, exit 10. Hinckley's s fairly flat with a max depth of about 20'. You'll find LMB, SMB, and yellow perch there. Seymour is deeper, has one flat and a nice hump NW of the public beach. Sheeps has a big flat with steep drop off's on either side about half way down from the launch. I've not had much luck there, but other members have. There are reports of BIG SMB. Maybe they'll chime in. If you have a fish finder, you're all set. If not, Google Earth shows pretty good images. A 7’ M/F or MH/F that feels good in your hands is a good start. $150’s gonna get you a very nice rod. I own a long list of brands but in your price range, Abu Garcia Veritas and Fenwick Elite Tech top the list. The Veritas fish a little heavier than their rating and the Fenwicks have great, sensitive, tips. Go to your local shops and handle as many brands as possible. The subjective feel is 90% of your fishing experience. Best of luck.

I installed a *** Z bearing kit in my 6.6:1 ***A and am bringing it to the Cape this week. Seat of tha pants says big improvement. We’ll see while I’m smallie hunting...

I keep a Diawa Ardito 7’ M/F casting and an Okuma Citrix 7’2” ML spinning travel rods in my truck for those ‘just in case’ stops. The Diawa’s fit & finish is typical Daiwa and it feels like a one piece to me. The Okuma is a good ML rod and has a fairly soft tip. Both come with semi-hard cases. They’re both good rods, and like other members, I’d stick with mid price point ‘travel’ gear. I fly JetBlue and they’ve let me take both on as carry ons. That’s my two cents... best of luck picking a travel rod.

Thanks for the input. I think my bait selection is good but I'm bringing the kitchen sink just in case. I fished a big pond in Plymouth on Tuesday and the only beds I saw were white suckers. I drive an orange Tundra (with a BR bumper sticker), which it pretty hard to miss. I'll likely be paddling my blue/camo Lure 11.5. I'm not sure where I'm starting on Tuesday. I'm most familiar with Hinckleys so I'll likely start there, though Sand Pond in Harwich looked pretty appetizing last month while I was there.... we'll see.

I’m marathoning down the Cape Tuesday to Thursday. Water temps should be in the 50’s, air close to 60 with light wind. My first choices are Hinckleys, Seymour, Sand, and maybe Sheep. I think square bills and medium diving cranks/suspenders then jigs (which I don’t have much experience/confidence in). Gonna bring a couple spinner baits and some soft baits ‘just in case’. Anyone want to chime in, feel free.

Pflueger.... I own Presidents, a Supreme, Supreme XTs, and a Patriarch XT. They're all light and smooth as silk. I had a Shimano but sold it and the one Abu Revo STX in the garage is very lonely..... Best of luck choosing a reel.

Launched in Plymouth around 8:00. I started on the northern shoreline and worked west to a flat where I saw beds and lots of dark shadows around them. Figuring I hit the jackpot I tossed a Rapala Shadow Rap ... nada .... Yozuri square bill .... nada ..... Rage Tail Menace .... nada .... What gives?!?!?!?! I paddled/drifted over the beds and the fish I saw sure weren’t bass, or anything I’d seen before. Mr. Aquarium told me they were white suckers. I moved east to a flat that drops a quick 20’ hoping for some bass... nope ... more suckers. After the kitchen sink hit bottom I packed it up and drove back up to Ponkapog for a while before my daughter’s LAX game. I covered a LOT of Ponkie, tossing a bluegill Yozuri square bill, perch Rapala Shadow Rap and a 4” T-rigged zoom U-Tail. Try as I might I came up with nothing more than a dink pickerel. Water temps in Plymouth were low-mid 50’s and Ponkapog were 58.x - 59.x. A lot of driving and paddling for a dink pickerel doesn’t seem like much, but May is off the list, I learned of a new fish, and there are Loons at the big Plymouth pond. I’ll take it. Can’t say I’ll be out again this week, but will be in Harwich Tuesday to Thursday next week. Have to plan my attack!

Tomorrow’s forecast looks pretty good and I’m not working.... I’m thinking of Great South in Plymouth to start and if that doesn’t pan out, maybe Sawdy in the afternoon. Fishing Rhino’s not around so I know there’ll be some fish there for me to catch... Tom, best of luck at Pickwick!

B’s fan forever but they’ve dropped their last three against Toronto and are down 0-1 less than 3 minutes in game 7. I’m praying heavily for them tonight.... Was sketchy most of the game but the B’s squeeked one out... off to round 2.

Exactly my experience at Hedges in Plymouth and Hinkley’s in Harwich. I fished Ponkapog in Canton a little while this morning. Water temps were 55.x at launch and 56.x on the northern bank. Got one each pickerel and Larry. Nothing to weigh, but beats a goose egg in the rain.

OK, fishing Hinckley’s in the rain was a bust, but Tuesday turned out better. Launched early in the AM and stayed until after lunch when the wind became too much. Ended up with two SMB, one being 3-0, and a beat up LMB coming in at 2-10. My gold/black Yozuri squarebill and blue/black Rage Tail Menace got the fish in the kayak. Water temps were 47.x. Moved over to Seymore pond this morning, despite a forecast of 20+ MPH winds. It was 36 degrees when I launched, and by 10:30 the wind was as forecasted so I bailed. I tripped across Sand Pond, also in Harwich, and it was well protected from the wind so I launched. Water temps were 46.x. Three hours of paddling and tossing different Rapala DT’s, a NED, and a gold blade bait I came up with a yellow perch. Water temp was 48.x - 49.x. A passer-by stopped as I was packing up and asked how I’d done. He said it was a good bass pond. I’ll take him at his word based on the way my Lowrance was lit up. I’d hoped for better luck but the weather was down right COLD and WINDY. I don’t blame the fish for not cooperating.... I’m going back for REVENGE when the weather finally acts like SPRING!

Tax season is over so the wife and I are on the Cape for a few days. I drove by Jenkins pond in Falmouth. The state webside says there’s public access but the three beaches I found were chained up and posted as PRIVATE and part of XYZ association. Bummer. Despite the weather I launched at Hinkley’s around 2:30 or so. The wind wasn’t bad at first but an hour into things the weather turned into a regular Nor’Easter. I lasted another hour but packed it in when the white-caps came over my bow regularly... Needless to say I didn’t catch anything. Good news is my Frogg Toggs proved plenty waterproof. I’m going back in the morning so ‘the boss’ can sleep & relax. Water temps were 46.x. Tomorrow’s game plan is blade bait, jerk bait, and maybe hair jig.
