I friend gave me a trolling motor for my Ascend kayak so I figured I'd do the right thing and register it. Coincidentally there's a registry in Hyannis, which is on the way to Harwich .... Hinkley's, Seymour, and Sheep's ponds are there.... My EMT class was rescheduled yesterday, so south I went. Gave the state their $44 and launched at Sheep's around 11:30 and went straight for the split, where it drops off steeply on both sides of the pond. I worked depths from 3' to 30' with a variety of baits: Rage Tail, brown/black hair jig, suspending jerk bait, Whopper Plopper, and wacky Senko. After three and a half hours I managed a Yellow Perch (on the brown/black jig) and a dink SMB on the Whopper Plopper. I had enough and moved on to Hinkley's, where I had good luck last month. Spent about an hour and a half at Hinkleys and managed another big Yellow Perch and good Pickerel on a Rage Tail. Water temps at both ponds were 63.x - 64.x Had a little time this morning so I figured I'd visit Blue Hills Reservoir to see what's what there. Fished a Rage Tail and 1/4 oz bluegill jig for an hour and a half with not so much of a whiff. I also spent some time walking around the shallows, looking for beds. I saw 4 for sure, and a couple maybe's. There were no other signs of life other than bugs and birds. Hopefully it's not a dead pond.

Dropped in Great Herring around 11:45. It was cloudy and 60-ish. Ended up with a handful of little SMB and a fat yellow perch that turned out to be the biggest of the day. A green/red flake rage tail and similarly colored 3 & 4" wacky Senkos were the winning baits. By 5:30 I was shivering and packed it in. I had rain gear but was still a layer short. The temperature tanked around 2:30 and rain started around 4:00. Water temps were 63.x... warmer than the air temp.

Not looking good for Celts... as I type this they're down 50 - 22.... Oh well.

To answer your question: YES - you want to go fishing that badly!

Dropped into Ponkapog last night around 5:00 and stayed until 7:30-ish. Got two LMB, 2-9 & 1-13, along with a decent pickerel. The LMB came on a T-rigged U-Tail and a greed/gold & purple flake Rage Tail. The pickerel side swiped a ghost Rapala Shadow Rap shallow. Water temps were 60.x - 62.x. It was very windy until 7:00.

I started with an Ascend 128T that was $649 at the time. It's a great kayak for the money. It's BIG, stable, and has an ALL DAY comfortable seat. I upgraded to a FeelFree Lure 11.5 a year later. It was $1,100 at the time. Also stable and has an awesome seat. They're both excellent kayaks but the Lure's fit and finish matches its price over the 128T.

X2. I drive a 4 door Tundra so my rods travel in the cab with me, with rod sleeves and reel covers. When I travel with my rods, they're wrapped in pipe insulation and tucked in a Plano rod tube.

S the motor injected or carbeurated? If it's carb'd I'd drain and remove the bowl to see what the gas looks like and if there's any crud in the bottom of the bowl. How old is the gas, and do you use Seafoam or Stabil? Other than that, check your battery/electrical connections, making sure they're clean and tight. Good luck with it.

Save some money and have your Abus tuned by Delaware Valley Tackle. He tuned my Abus and the're completely transformed. Mike's work is great and prices very reasonable.

Had some time late this morning so I dropped into Sunset Lake around 11:30. It took me 45 minutes to make the 8 miles (multiple car MVA @ 128/93/Braintree Mall), which set the tone for the rest of the morning. Water temperature was 60.x and a girl coming off the water as I launched told me she caught a couple small Rainbows, a few small LMB, and a couple of good LMB. She told me where and that's where I started. Two and a half hours later and working from 3' to 8' depths I'd got one dink LMB to the kayak on a yellow perch Rapala Shadow Rap. Otherwise I had a few 'peck-peck" hits on a green/red flake swim Senko. A green/black jig made a good lawn mower. I lost interest and packed it in. There were a few beds on the SE shoreline, but nothing notable. I've got some time next week. Maybe I'll figure out where the fish are and get out of my slump.

Today I figured I'd try Aaron's Reservoir in Wampatuck State Park. Got there around 10:30 and went to the North bank to see what's what. Water temps were 58.x. I worked southeast using a T-rigged Senko, yellow perch lipless Rapala, a wacky rigged 4" perch Senko, and a green/red flake Rage Tail. After an hour and a half of nothing more than a few pecks from what I assume were panfish, I got called to work. I've fished Aaron's on and off since I was a kid and have never caught more than one pounders. I've heard the stories, but haven't figured the place out. It's car top only and doesn't get much pressure because you can only get the key seasonally, during the day, from the camp ground office. It's picturesque, has drop offs, points, underwater structure and rock beds... If you're on the South Shore, it's worth checking out. Hey Swamp Hawgs - maybe you can work your magic there and fill me in.... you've got more fishing MOJO than I do...

I launched from Nonantum rd and worked my way towards route 16.

Was running around Boston yesterday so I dropped into the Charles at the Watertown/Newton public launch. It looked and felt like the other two spots I launched at in Dedham & Needham: root beer water between 3 and 5' deep with lots of structure along the shoreline. Threw a bladed jig, perch Rapala, and greed purple/gold Rage Tail for about an hour with only a yellow perch following and laughing at the Rapala. I got the same results as the other two spots I fished last year, so off I went to Sunset Lake, which offer better odds. Launched at Sunset Lake around 4:30. I cruised the shallows looking for beds. Only saw a few, none were of any size. I threw the same baits as the Charles, adding a T-rigged black/blue flake swim Senko and wacky rigged 4" nightcrawler colored Senko. If it weren't for the handful of dink Pickerel that liked my Rapala, yesterday would have been a bust. Going to try something different (?) in order to figure out why I'm stuck spinning my wheels when others are catching many & good sized fish.... Water temps at both locations were 59.x - 60.x.

I'm in your boat, err, kayak... dunno what it is, or what I do wrong. I've fished with members, used the same bait, and am generally out fished 5 or 6 to 1. Most trips are 2 or 3 fish. Just no fish KARMA ?

Tried to fish Hedges after work, launching around 5:00. Water was 58.x - low 60.x. Many equipmet problems. Threw in towel and left after 45 minutes.
