Which felt better in your hands, the Mojo or Veritas? Also, were you able to mount a Curado on them? Go with your gut feeling: it's YOUR setup.

Abu's Veritas is my favorite $99 rod. I own three casting and one spinning. Heck, I own a grand total of eight Abu rods of various price points. To me they're light, sensitive, and durable ... As long as you don't close your truck's tail gate on one like Me ... ? The best way to find your rod is to handle them yourself. The subjective 'feeling' is a big part of your purchase. As far as reels go, I like Shimano, Diawa, and one other brand. Best of luck!

I brought my trolling motor along and integrated a mount for my Lowrance into the battery box/tray. The transducer mounts on the trolling motor and power comes from the battery. Easy as pie.

Fished Stetson Pond in Pembroke for the first time Sunday afternoon with a family friend's son who's finishing his chemotherapy and loves fishing. A lot of it is shallow, with docks and one weed bed. I managed a little Sunnie, a little Larry, and one measuring 17" with a good belly on it. My scale was dead, shame on me for not checking ALL my gear before leaving. My large bass came from a whacky Senko right under a pine tree in the water. All my catches' colors were pretty light/faded. Evan didn't catch anything but still had fun. He used a craw jig and some shallow crank baits. JG233 and I rented a boat at the Quabbin Reservoir yesterday at 0600 sharp, our first time fishing it. I started with a ned rig, jointed smallie flavored Rapala, and a T-rigged Kreature. My Rapala and Kreature produced nada, but I got one and a half on the ned (knot failure ). A few REALLY SLOW hours went by with no action for either of us. I switched to my ole-faithful T-rigged Zoom and, for the second time, a drop shot armed with a Z-Man TRD. I got two nice smallies straight away, then nothing for a couple more hours. Derek landed a nice smallie on a wacky Senko (?). Later in the afternoon we started back, working a shallow shoreline covered in shade. Derek landed a good handful of little smallies on the wacky. I managed two little guys on a wacky rigged 3" Senko. Overall, I landed a 1-6, 1-11, and 1-14 (FRESH batteries in the scale!). The smallie that broke off was similarly sized to the three that made it in the boat. One thing was different though, none of my catches really hit the baits. All I felt was a slight change/heaviness on the line.... something normal for Summer smallies? Overall a great day at the Quabbin. We caught some good fish, saw two bald eagles, and two otters. Boat rentals are $46/day with parking - a bargain for good smallmouth fishing....

X2 - I have two cats who go outside. I have no squirrels, birds, pests in the yard... the only mice we get are the ones they bring home dead from the marsh across the street... DEFINITELY NOT LEGAL IN MASSACHUSETTS.....

Sort of.... I left my Villain/Supreme XT combo at the bottom of Ponkapog Pond a couple weeks ago. It got snagged as I grabbed my tackle bag from the back of my kayak. It was dark, I missed it, and it got away from me. I didn't have a flashlight with me but went back the next day and gave it an honest effort to find it, hoping it landed at an angle. All for not. I'll put in more OT and grab some side work and replace it with something else... cursed Tackle Monkey ...

I really don't know. When the AG announced it, many other high ranking government personnel were at the conventions. I'm sure it wasn't drawn up overnight though.... MA has always been very vague on how they write/interpret their gun laws. It's just a very liberal state, always has been, as least during my lifetime.

Don't come to MA for an AR, they're no longer legal here. If you don't know what you want yet, look for gun shops/clubs where you can shoot different models and calibers. I wouldn't advise you drop a lot of cash on a gun if you're not sure what you want. Consider a .22 for your first gun. They're easy, and cheap to shoot.

I bought perch and bone flavored 90's and managed only one pickerel so far at Ponkapog (Canton) and the Charles River (Needham). The pickerel cut the line when it jumped out of the water. Luckily it spit the Plopper too. I haven't found the Plopper mojo yet....

Anyone fish/launch at the Charles' River car top ramp in Needham? It looks interesting.... ADD: launched at the Fisher street ramp around 1230 - 1300. It was overcast, with water temps just above 80.x degrees. The surroundings looked great. Little or no current, S curves, weeds, fallen trees, a small bay/waterfall, a bridge, drop offs, etc., etc. I started under the bridge towards the waterfall with a T-rigged 5" bass hula-swim Senko, a perch Whopper Plopper, and wacky rigged 4" smoke colored Senko. I nabbed a dink bass straight away with the hula Senko. After a bit I moved back towards a nice looking weed line that dropped right off to 8' with the Whopper Plopper. A small pickerel grabbed it but bit through the line when it jumped out of the water, thinking it was a bass.... Luckily it spit the Plopper too, finding it floating a short distance away. With the exception of some little fish nibbling at the Senkos, that was it for the next four hours, even though I worked every tree, bump, weed line, overhanging tree with everything I could think of, including a Mepps inline spinner. Something (pickerel?) bit the tail off my hula senko so I put a watermelon candy Zoom Mag in it's place and immediately got a hit from a tiny bass, not much bigger than the worm. More pick .. pick .. pick .. so I went back to the Mepps in line spinner and managed a little sunfish, a yellow perch, and a nice crappie. If you added their weights you might get a pound and half. Not at all what I expected for 5 hours, but it beats a goose egg...

I fished Sampsons twice. I caught more panfish than bass, a few really nice pancakes, but nothing worth putting on the scale. I had the best luck along the shoreline past the large point going up to, and in, the small inlet. My neighbor fly fishes there and does well with panfish.
