Kayak Addition
I'm in the same boat... wife like to paddle around and nap, sitting up, in our 2nd kayak. As far as a tandem with her paddling and me fishing, yeah, not seeing it...

What Line?
What power & action is your rod? The reel's size helps too. Also, what size bass do you usually catch?

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
10 - 20 miles. Can't help you at that distance, I'm south of Boston. MAFishfinder.com is a local website featuring a ton of local information, including maps & state location data. Being in Billerica, you're close enough to S/NH. Here's another thread full of great info. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/100208-anyone-have-any-luck-in-southern-nh-yet-4612/

I saw eels at BPS in Foxboro the other day. Being in MA, any success with it?

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I've been able to keep the monkey at bay, until now. The JDM monkey caught me and coerced me into buying a JDM Chronarch CI4 in 7.6:1... It's my first dive into JDM hardware, but will be a while before I use it because the freshwaters near me are still solid.... Now the hard part's going to be NOT buying a new stick to put it on..... oh the HORROR!

Landing Fish In A Kayak.
So far I've been able to bring them in and lip them, until I caught my first good sized pickerel, but it was cold out so I had gloves in my bag. Since then I've bought a folding net and a lip gripper 'just in case'. I live on a peninsula on the ocean but haven't been taken for a ride by another popular bass species.... Yet.

How Many Rods Do You Carry When On The Bank?
Two or three depending on where I'm going and how long I have to fish. When carrying two, it's a MF B/C and a ML/F spinning setup. Third setup is a M/M or MH/M B/C. I have a Spiderwire backpack that holds 2 rods, making it easier to transport everything. I sometimes ride my MTB to a couple of spots and take a couple of 2-piece rods, though I've got to be careful of low hanging branches on some single track.

It's easy as pie. My daughter starts college in 3 years & I have enough rods & reels in the garage...... Mounted on the ceiling above my motorcycles. Thanks for the encouragement!

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
While trying to keep the tackle monkey at bay (not working out this month....) I came across an announcement that Cabelas is opening a store in Berlin, MA on 26 March @ 10:00 AM.

Anyone Excited Or Ready For Free Agency?
I was surprised the Patriots didn't extend Wilfork's contract, but that's business. Maybe they're freeing up cash in attempt to keep Revis. If he leaves, he'll be walking out the door with 3 rings. McCourty also hits the free market, so it'll be interesting to see what the Patriots look like next year - inflated balls or not......

Tires
I've had Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Firestone, and Toyo over the years. That's until I discovered Michelin AT/2s. My first set ran 90K, they're pretty quiet, and provide great snow & rain traction. I'll let you know about the second set.

All You Kayakers
Ever see Deliverance? I'd paddle upstream and fish back..... just like everyone said. All I have are lakes & ponds near me. Even the salt water behind my house is in a protected bay.

Good Fishing And Camping Spots In Mass
I've never camped in central MA, but Wampatuck State Park in Hingham, MA has a small campground and a reservoir allowing car top boats about a mile away. We used to camp by the reservoir when we were kids, but you'd be best to ask a Ranger/employee, or check the state's website. I kayak fished the reservoir a handful of times last year and with few exceptions had the whole place to myself. It'll take you at least a day to learn it all, but is worth it. Google maps helps a lot. Good luck finding a good campsite.

Houghton's Pond & Blue Hills Reservoir are covered... Yeah, I'm getting the itch too. I'd have to say we've got another month before we see fresh water again.

Suggestions For Medium-Light Baitcasting Rod
I bought a Tatula ML/R last year and so far it's been great, light as a feather and beautiful build quality. It retails higher than your budget, but that's what the monkey coerced me to buy the instant I picked it up. Diawa calls it a reaction rod and by the 'seat of my wrists' I'd say it's close to a moderate. If a more experienced member can explain a reaction rod better, please do.

I Just Joined The Kayak Fishing Club
My experience too. I started with an Ascend 128T, then a FeelFree Lure 11.5 and was off to the races. Kayak fishing opened up a whole new world. There are car-top only waters near me that aren't heavily fished. Welcome to the kayak fishing fleet. Be warned, however, bait monkey brings his friends along when it comes to accessories for it!

Ice Out In New England 2015.
I'm just south of Boston and the bay looks like I could walk to the Aquarium. I'm figuring by the end of Tax season. Farmer's Almanac says we're in for a colder-than normal March. http://m.almanac.com/weather/longrange/zipcode/02111 Could mean pressure from Bait Monkey.

The monkey forced me to BPS today. Nothing expensive (that was LAST YEAR $$$$$), a few new Plano boxes that fit nicely in my fishing backpack and a folding net for the kayak. I browsed around for a bit and like the new BPS rod lineup a lot, but nothing jumped out enough to take home.

Favorite Rod 250 And Over.
Great.... The most expensive stick I've bought to date is an Abu Villain, one of my favorites. After reading this thread I've got 'the monkey' whispering Dobyns, Loomis, And St. Croix .... Anyone have any monkey repellant?
