  1. You ever seen Skeet Reese on the water? Yellow boat, yellow jersey, yellow visor, yellow rods, yellow....... He is obviously big on safety
  2. I have the Magnum and it is bigger than you think. It holds 9 3700 boxes and 4 3600 boxes. Thats a lot of tackle. I actually only carry 6 3700's in it and then I have room in the end for 2 3504 spinnerbait boxes stacked on top of each other where I keep extra line, some tools and other misc stuff I don't like loose in the pockets. As a coangler you could easily pack enough tackle plus rain gear and lunch. I can't imagine a coangling situation where 12 3700 boxes and 4 3600 boxes plus extra pockets etc. would be needed.
  3. I love my Ultimate 14.5 I bought the tandem but use it as a solo with the seat in the back position and have room for 7'6" rods laying in front of me rather than standing up. The raised seat is an easy mod and makes standing very easy. I actually have stabilizers on mine, not that it wasn't standable to start with but I prefer a little insurance. I also filled the front 1/3 of the yak with floatation foam and put a modified bassyak system on it. While the Pro Angler is nice it just wouldn't work for what I wanted, which is rod storage in front of me similar to fishing rhinos canoe setup, I absolutely hate rods poking up and snagging everything. So with mods, it is more like a hybrid that is unsinkable like a SOT without the scuppers and a low center of gravity, best of everything....
  4. My go to bait in that situation is a buzzbait. It seems to annoy them into biting. I've thrown it 20x at the same fish and eventually they just can't take it anymore. The other one is a Fat Ika, I will basically rip it as soon as it hits the water so it creates a big entry noise (like skipping backwards) and kill it. I use these presentations when the fish fail to bite a smaller bait and they are not spooky. Kinda snaps them out of the zone and makes them reaction strike. Sometimes even that fails though and they are just not catchable. Prespawn though, you should be able to snap them out of it by making some noise on the water surface.
  5. I think getting TW shirts made up is a bad move
  6. Two words. Squirt gun.
  7. You might be over thinking it. If you just crack the garage door open about 6" and stand back 15-20' and roll cast right at that opening it will give you the motion. Once you can consistently hit the pavement directly below the door with a low trajectory then do it harder and harder. Honestly, you could probably stand in the garage and cast out, would be a little warmer...
  8. Thank you!
  9. Thanks, will start with a 16gb card. Does the 798 take sd or micro sd cards?
  10. Another here who is right handed and also reel with my right. I also taught myself to pitch with my left hand. While I can certainly pitch further with my right arm, oddly I am unquestionably more accurate with my left arm now than I ever was with my right. In the process of learning to pitch left, I also became better at casting left and to be honest I don't even really think about left hand/right hand anymore, I just cast using the best cast for the presentation or surroundings, boat position etc. I will say though that this is only baitcasting, I have tried left armed casting with spinning gear and it is a train wreck lol.
  11. Gotcha. Can you change your 2gb or once it is downloaded, you can't erase it? Based on the HMP East comparison though, that is still a lot of data even if you can't change it.
  12. Being a new user with the same unit as the OP I have to ask, what is the avg format time of a 32gb card and how often does this need to be done? Do I need more than one card? What is the "smaller" size card you use? I plan to do mapping if that matters.
  13. Thats pretty awesome. So basically navionics + just made separate marine and lakes obsolete. It probably makes hotmaps obsolete too if the new region is the entire USA right? So does the update card become the one that is used in the graph? That would mean I could keep my gold chip safe at home as a backup and if something happens to the new card I would just be out the $99 to buy the update card again? Sonarcharts is exactly what I am after, just grabbed a 798ci hd si on the GM deal and trying to make sure I get the best chip for it.
  14. If I own navionics gold and update to navionics plus does that mean I can download lakes as well as marine or is it still limited to marine? I would obviously rather spend the $99 on a upgrade that $175 on hotmaps platinum if possible.
  15. The fastest way to sell it is to consign it with the local dealer. You give them a $25k cert, they offer it to a their potential buyer for $23k and they give you $21k and then they use the full $25k cert when they order the boat from the factory. They sell privately too but it is harder because the buyer needs to have cash since the bank wont write the check without physical collateral.
  16. If he won and was using megastrike on his bait would it still be divine intervention?
  17. If the locals are burning spots everywhere then it still seems to me it is a level playing field. Some event locations are going to have weather related challenges, some will have spectator challenges. It makes it harder to fish sure, but it also makes it hard to hit a free throw when people are waving flags in your face trying to distract you. The guy who took the picture seems like he overcame the challenges just fine and the players who didn't are going to be able to place the blame elsewhere if they don't feel like taking the responsibility for their own results. The odds of a public res closing for a elite tournament are pretty much zero, it could happen but it would cost more than BASS has to spend, they are not the PGA.
  18. Which ones did you clear out so I know which ones to hit?
  19. Did you try mashing the barb on the treble that gets inserted into the bait? Seems like you could even just cut it shorter too since it is more of a holder than a hook.
  20. I was trying to wait until tw got the slow sink back but I couldn't hold back the monkey any longer. outdoor pro shop has them in stock if anyone is looking. Now someone return the favor and tell me where I can pick up a hard gill LOL.
  21. Here are some companies doing "different" with spinnerbaits: Z-man Quadzilla Law Lures Death Shimmer Booyah Boo Spin Jackall Super Eruption War Eagle Twin Spin Warbaits Warblade Livingston Scuttlebuzz Sebile Pro Shad Freedom Live Action
  22. I use smoke purple as my primary line, it is far from new though.
  23. Never heard of it so I looked it up. Try searching for mojo rig instead, same thing, lots of places to buy or easy to make and tons of rigging and fishing instructions out there.
  24. I have a Cabela's bag and it is far and away the nicest made bag I have used. They make a backpack too. It is a little more expensive than the other ones you listed but judging by the quality of my regular bag, it is probably worth it. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Storage/Tackle-Bags|/pc/104793480/c/104777280/sc/104619780/Cabelas-Advanced-Anglers-Backpack/1546939.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104619780%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104777280&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104777280%3Bcat104619780
  25. I have had an amazing amount of fish swim up and hang out under my yak including some double digits on two separate occasions this past year. While the yak didn't spook them, me scrambling for my jig rod did both times I have taken some steps to pad the boat this off season so hopefully I can take better advantage of those situations next year.
