  1. I hope your a better writer than artist
  2. The best rod to use for both cranking and jigs is a spinnerbait rod of course! Seems odd but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. 13 doesn't label their rods technique specific but a quick look at the lineup tells me the 6'7"mh is the spinnerbait rod in the lineup. If your set on 13 thats the rod I would get to do the job.
  3. Check out the Biffle Heads and how Tommy Biffle uses them. Many people use flukes with them as well as the beaver style baits.
  4. when you dunk the bottle of line conditioner in your coffee thermos to thaw it out, because limp line is way more important than hot coffee when it is zub zero.....
  5. I use either braid with yo-zuri leader or straight yo-zuri on all of my setups. The only reason for the leader on braid is for break offs when needed. Since it is the main line on other reels having enough leader on hand is never an issue. Also, it is cheap enough when bought in bulk to never give respooling a second thought if I feel the line has been weakened in any way, which is a big deal for me.
  6. Growing up, my grandfather always told me there were only two good times to fish. When it's raining and when it's not.
  7. So $80 for reel and $70 on the rod? $150 combo. Why are you set on the Convergence rod? You can get a new Citica for $100 and there is not a whole lot of difference between a $70 Convergence and a $45 Sellus, I have used both and IMHO you are just paying for a better warranty with the Convergence. There are actually a few options in the $50 rod division that are not junk. The conventional wisdom is to spend less on a reel in order to get a better rod, but I think in this case the opposite applies.
  8. anyone tie double rigs with these? weighted or weightless?
  9. here is the lexa deal http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130738-30-off-daiwa-lexa100-series-plus-a-25-prepaid-credit-card/
  10. In that range new, Academy H2O Mettle constantly gets good reviews for budget reel, as does pro max or pro qualifier (if it goes on sale). The lexa was about $100 with a $25 prepaid visa card I think as well. All of these reels are going to be better than the Caius. If your just set on getting a Shimano your going to have to settle for used or an inferior product IMHO.
  11. Samurai is not any more expensive than the rest of the braids listed here if you know where to look.
  12. I would personally add a second 7' mh
  13. You can pick up a used citica for around $60-$70. New option would be a lexa, I saw valley sports had a deal going on those the other day. Or wait for the PQ to go on sale at the end of the month. Those are probably the best options for the $70 range unless you expand the used search a little.
  14. I like this idea. I have one of those boxes that I don't use because I don't like the way it bends my spinnerbait wires.
  15. VMC makes a closed eye siwash that might work and Damiki makes a straight shank called viper that would work. Mustad HAS to have one available but it is probably buried deep in their catalog, calling someone like captain hooks would probably get you to the answer faster and since you want bulk your probably at the right place anyway. Also, spinnerbait hooks would probably work although I doubt you will find one with a welded eye (if you snell do you really need a welded eye?).
  16. Took less than 10 seconds for me to find heat seal-able zip lock bags on google. Now maybe they would have to do a little work on the automated line to incorporate a bag change, but to say that is impossible is exactly the opposite of why you build custom robotic automation system in the first place. I love the worms but they need to try harder on the packaging, just sayin.
  17. yep, I get that and that's why it is even more silly to me that they use the packaging they do. I mean it is not like Zoom or Yum are hand sealing bags so the technology obviously exist and I doubt it would require major investments to change the automated line to a more user friendly option. Regardless, it's not like I plan to stop using them because of the packaging but I don't think it is absurd to give them grief for the lame bags.
  18. I seriously don't get why they don't use a zip lock, I mean it is not like they are some random large corporation that has no idea how the end user uses the product. I store mine in the original bags but I wish they would just change the packaging. Maybe they will develop a roboziplocbagsealer soon and we can all rejoice....
  19. Mizmo makes some killer looking 2 tone and 3 tone tubes. http://www.mizmo.com/badboyscatalog.html and http://www.mizmo.com/trilamcatalog.html that tri lam super shad looks like a winner based on what your looking for. Not sure on the shipping but seems like you have some friends here who are willing to help.
  20. That is a big smallmouth area of the river, and the little ones are plenty strong to fight the current.
  21. I would pull the batteries as it is a small price to pay for the freedom of your own boat. I would also consider calling around on the storage with power, if you explain what your storing and exactly how little power you need you might be surprised what they will offer to get a empty unit rented on a long term basis.
  22. Lets see, spring break, warm weather, fishing AND tail: Lake Havasu!
  23. Anyone ever use Case Plastics Slim Stik?
  24. Thanks for the tip on the Chompers. I have never used their baits, is the action similar to the thin or pro senko? I mean salt filled thin worms should in theory be pretty similar and the price is WAY better so I might just buy a few packs of these. Any others from them I should try? The 6" shakey looks closer to the pro senko and I am a sucker for a hula grub so I might try those too.
