Tracker Boats 170 TF opinions
Get the 175 and max the motor. I had the 165 and outgrew it very quickly. Always go bigger than you think you'll need. If you are bringing multiple people I wouldn't even consider the 170. Also a 24 volt trolling motor is a huge upgrade as well. a 60Hp 4 stroke merc with a maxxum 70 or 80 will be great to fish from on the 175.

What do you think of Bass Tracker boats?
I had a 2013 Pro 165 with a bunch of issues. I would advise looking for something else. If you are planning on fishing SMALL waters then it should hold up. By small I mean like private lakes and ponds. Anywhere with heavy wind potential is not a good idea.

Anyone been out at all? I was out on Manor Saturday. Water temp around 65. Caught a bit of everything. Grass was a bit out of control. KVD 1.5 and wacky Senko were key. Today I was on Sciver for a few hours. Water temp was 60. Saw a three fish bedding and many hanging off of the ledges but couldn't get any to bite.

Most sensitive rod for bottom techniques
I have had a lot of high end rods and not one has even been close to the NRX I had. They are the benchmark for sensitivity in the bass world.

Shimano conquest vs metanium
I have both. The conquest is something special. Easily the nicest reel i've used. Get a HG conquest

What do y'all think about the Shimano Scorpion 200/201hg reel
Same reel as a Curado I. Different color.

Why I hate buying rods sometimes / P.S.A.
I agree PVC is the only way to go. I've shipped two rods in cardboard and somehow on both times the tube was crushed or broken but the rod ended up being ok. From now on PVS and USPS only. I make it a point to charge an extra $10 for shipping to cover the cost and explain to the buyer how I am shipping it. If they don't like the price then the risk is on them.

Straight shank hooks, for what & why besides flipping?
I went to a seminar this past winter and Ish Monroe was talking about this. He said he doesnt use EWG hooks for anything. His reasoning was hook up percentages. He said with the EWG the mouth must go between the bend at the eye and the point of the hook which if you look at it is only an inch or so. With the straight shank there is nothing to prevent the fish from getting hooked especially if the hook is snelled.

SV103 Opinions
I too had problems with my Alphas SV. What is really odd is that I had a Steez 103HA with an SV spool that was great and I had no issues with. The Alphas was not the same. I couldn't get it to calm down without turning the brakes very high and then distance suffered. Maybe I got a lemon? I ended up selling it and getting the Curado 70.

Costa Sunglasses "Green lens vs. Silver mirror?"
I have two pair of Costa Saltbreak. One is 580G green mirror and I have one 580P no mirror for low light days. Best glasses I have owned. I got one pair at a show for $90.

That sucks. My buddy lost an XX Curado combo as well last year. Went overboard at full speed so we couldnt even look for it.

Shimano Chronarch CI4 vs Metanium
I had both. Sold the Chronarch beacuse I hate composite reels. If money isn't stopping you get the Metanium.

Just got one myself. That reel is amazing.

Dobyns Rod thinking about swapping
I am assuming this is a 762? The Champions typically fish a bit heavier than the Extremes. Depending on the weight of the lures you want to throw you may want the 4 power over the 5.

Superstition & Rituals
I will make my first five casts of the day to areas that "shouldn't" have fish. On days that I have caught fish within the first five casts I always think that it will be great then I either get skunked or something else bad happens to the boat or gear. Also Ice Cube's Today was a good day gets played at least once.

2016 St Croix Legend Elite
I just got the 71MHXF during Black Friday but have not had a chance to try it. I am coming from an NRX 893 so I am curious to try it out. Doesn't look like anything spectacular but I am sure it will be great. Only thing I am not crazy about are the small guides. Braid and leader knot may be an Issue. Balances perfect with my Metanium.

St Croix Avid X Spinning For. . . . .
I have both Avid 7MF and Avid X 68MXF. They both fish heavier than a typical medium to me but I think you would be fine. The XF feels like a totally different rod to me. Much more crisp. The Avid X has micro guides so braid and leader may be an issue. I would go with a regular Avid 68MXF.
