Finesse Rod
I am also in the same boat looking for a BFS rod. It's new to me so I am not sure if I will like it so I am back and fourth on how much money I want to invest in the rod. I am between the above mentioned Phenix, a Dobyns DX701, and the ML ***. I am concerned about the reel seats though. The *** looks like the one on the Veritas and I hated the way it had the sharp edge on the cap causing blisters. The reel is another story all together. I just picked up an Alphas Type R, I also have a Core and a Chronarch 50e. My other option is to sell one or two of those and just buy a Pixy.. Mainly looking to throw weightless worms, and 1/8 oz jig heads with something like a Keitech on it.

I get that same streak on the left of the centerline sometimes. Most of the time its not there but it comes and goes. Is this interference or something with the water like aeration? My pics look just like these. can't seem to get them as clear as everyone else.

Hi Vis Yellow Braid
832 in white here. I think they call the color ghost. I just started it this year and really like using braid on a casting reel . The fact that I can now see the line move is an advantage as well. I do use a leader though.

Look around and get a Metanium. You should be able to find one for around $320 or so.

Shimano Crucial Rods
Why on earth would you be thinking this? Didn't you just get a bunch of NRX? You're supposed to upgrade not downgrade. You need a new Megabass. All kidding aside I have the old Crucial drop shot rod and like it.

Best Cross Over Rod For All Types Of Baits
I also second the Spinnerbait Special. Hook keeper does fail though. Very light and sensitive rod. I just got it recently but like it so far.

Steez Or Core
I have a Core 50 and a Metanium XG. Both are great. I love the small size of the 50. I use my Metanium for my jig rod (DX744) and really like it. It's smooth and cast the best out of all the other reels I have. Don't worry about the Core not being able to handle anything. I have used it for everything except deep cranking. It would be hard for me to pick one or the other. Just see what fits your hand and rod better. Or just buy both

Man that thing's a slob! I was also out on sunday and didn't have luck at all. I didn't get out until around 9:30 or so which may have been the problem. Looks like upper Sciver near the container? I saw on BCAC that last tues night a guy caught a 5lb11oz smallie! All of the algae on the water is new this year. I didn't see it at all last year.

Going Tomorrow To Get A New Squarebill Rod
I throw them on a 7' Shimano Clarus and think it does really well. It's a MHM. They're around $80 new.

Megabass Orochi Xx
Well guys I got to play around with the rod a little yesterday. My first impressions upon opening the rod from its included case is that it was very light. I got to fish it with my Metanium yesterday because I didn't have time to spool the new Curado. The Metanium has 30# 832 braid and a 12# fluoro leader using the alberto knot. I had zero issue with the guides and the knot. They are nowhere near the size of the Duckett and are about the same as the Veritas micro guide I used to have. The rod balanced very well with the reel, so much so that I am not sure if i will put my Core on it or not. It was lighter than my buddy's DX702 with an Adelbaran BFS for reference. All day I threw 1/2 oz chatterbaits and spinnerbaits and it worked well. The rod loads up great while casting and I was able to get great distance. The rod was as if not more sensitive than my DX744. It was very aparent when running the spinnerbait along a rocky bottom and through grass. Unfortunatly the fish were not cooperating so I will have to add more on the review when I break it in with some fish. The rod is definatly worth checking out if you're in the market for one. I am curious how the Jig rod would compare to my DX744.
