  1. 1.5" crappie tubes are by far the best for numbers. Johnson silver minnows in 1/4oz size or #4-5 inline spinners are best for size.
  2. First step, match the hatch. If that doesn't work then try the other colors. There's only 4 colors of frogs (belly of the bait), white, yellow, brown, black. What the top looks like doesn't matter unless its Gin clear water. Note, even live green frogs have white or yellow bellies.
  3. No. Its not. I would guess your bank transfer is going to go somewhere in africa. This is under the shipping information. Can anyone translate scamese? " Many of Japan fishing equipment manufacturer production in Southeast Asia.Parts is a Japanese product, assembly countries are those of the country. So, country of origin is not in Japan.Assembly plant is Japanese have supervised.Quality is safe. "
  4. I was just going to say, that's the 83/200 not the HDI. The elite 5 HDI was sold as three packages, head unit, 83/200, and 83/200 455/800. You got the 83/200 package. The good news is, I just sold one of those 83/200khz in used condition for $50 so you should be able to get at lest that out of the transducer, and the HDI transducer is around $100. So you aren't totally out of the game yet, sucks that you have to do it though.
  5. Yes- see the current yo-zuri thread for my experiences.
  6. The chart black back is the dirty water color.
  7. Mount a couple pieces of 2X4 on the transom of your boat, then screw the ducer mount to it, that way you can have the ducer above the bottom of your boat and 3" out off the back of the boat.
  8. Too high of test for a size 30 pflueger. 8# is the highest I would go with that reel. I have used 8# seaguar red label on size 30 presidents many times without issue.
  9. I have used them both. I used the ultra soft in 2lb and 4lb with panfish applications. It broke down very quickly in the sun and heat. Went from 6# breaking strength to 2# very quickly, and got very cloudy and brittle in the process. On a week long trip I left one of my panfish rods on the deck the whole time, just in case I hit a dock where I could pull a few crappie out. By the end of the week I could break the 4# line with two pinky fingers. I contacted yo-zuri and they swore they had never heard of the issue and requested I send my spools (they went cloudy ON THE SPOOL in less than a month) and they replaced the spools for me. The new ones did the same thing. They contacted me about a month later and said I had a bad batch, well I guess the replacement batch was bad too. They did not have any 4# in the ultra soft to give me, so they gave me regular hybrid. The regular stuff is great and I still use it 3 years later. Note; by diameter, feel, and breaking strength they are 1 size underrated. Compared to a high strength line like trilene XT, 4# is really 6#, the 6# is really 8#, and the 10# is really 12#. The ultra soft felt closer to true ratings, but still on the thicker side.
  10. KVD 1.5. You need 3 colors. Chart/Black Back, Sexy Shad, and Sexy sunfish or bluegill. If they won't hit one of those then there isnt a squarebill bite.
  11. I've had both the L and ML eyecon. Get the ML, its the perfect smallie rod. The L is too whippy to get a good hookset when penetrating plastics such as trick worms, shakey heads, or stick baits. I actually used my ML for creek smallies quite a bit, good action on it. However, I have heard the mojo bass 6'9 MLXF is the sweet spot in the lower end croix lineup. Not a fan of mojo bass rods at all, but I have to say it feels great. Its nearly the same action and feel as the legend 6'9MLXF which is a favorite among walleye and smallie anglers, just heavier and less sensitive.
  12. They don't sell a ML in casting models. Sounds like what I need then! Thats okay too! I need something with a good tip for "working" baits. I have enough "meat" rods for around cover.
  13. Its a guessing game to what it is by just looking at a picture of a blank screen. Interference would still show bottom, but a cloudy screen above it. Yours is doing exactly what my elite 4 did when just for the heck of it I tried using down imaging screen with an 83/200 kzh ducer, it showed dots on the screen and sometimes a faint bottom return. You might have a broken ducer. Have you tried hard resetting the unit to factory default? Back up your gps waypoints then with the unit off hold down the + and - while powering up. Then start over again. Make sure to choose 83/200 + 455/800 HDI transducer under settings-sonar-installation- transducer What software are you running? Should be 5.1.** or newer.
  14. Wondering if anyone here has held these two rods in the 7' Medium Fast. I fish veritas rods mostly, but looking for something with a little more tip flex to it for working senkos and smaller baits. Even the Medium veritas rods are broom sticks, which is not what I want. I can't find a blackout locally so I am relying on you guys to help me out!
  15. Confirm you have the HDI ducer and not the 83/200. Have you tried 455kHz?
  16. An exhaust fan in a kitchen is likely not strong enough to remove all of the toxic fumes. Plus most just filter the air and send it back into the room, which will not work with the toxins. Don't do it inside... find a place outside. You can get an electric melting pot for $25, or you can buy a lead ladle and use a propane torch.
  17. I've caught quite a few rods. Most memorable was pulling a zebco 33 combo out from under a dock. I put it up on the dock and when I fished through the area again the next day there was a "thank you" sign on the dock. Funniest was when someone else in the boat, who will remain nameless, caught one of those swim fins that goes on your feet when diving. Fought it for 5 minutes while I was ready with the net. He will never live that one down.
  18. "Old people" have kicked my butt on the water many times. I said old timers stuck in their ways, fishing like it is 1965. You know. Old 5' pistol grip rods, round baitcasters with that rope braid, and tossing around spinnerbaits with melted rubber skirts or "plugs" that are gawdawful ugly things with galvanized steel hooks. Ever see grumpy old men 2? That's what we have around here...
  19. Yes sir. Toss that plastic in the trash can and put your favorite slim bodied paddle tail on it. The jig itself is pretty nice. The blade turns at slow speeds and the hook is plenty sharp to stick a fish right out of the packaging. The plastic bait that comes with it is so-so, it didnt have any "roll" to it what so ever which is a key attribute to a good paddle tail.
  20. Absolutely. I remember an elite event probably 5 years ago now where Rojas caught fish on a frog in 36 deg water. Any time fish are up near the surface a topwater can and will get bit.
  21. Someone buy one and let us know where all the bearings are.
  22. I don't know what to tell you other than the old timers I see around here "stuck in their ways" are lucky to catch 1-2 fish a day when most others are catching 50-60. I don't think I've ever seen myself getting out fished by these types of people. They sure do brag about the good ol days of catching 100-200 bass a day. Don't get me wrong, we've both had tough days and were equal.. but when the fish are willing to bite, they fall prey to the new age baits and techniques and ignore the old school lures. Are fish smarter or what? I don't know, they must be evolving and adapting to the predators (fisherman) on heavily pressured water.
  23. Sitting at a computer while at a comfy office job and saying how stupid it was to do what he did is not appropriate. He has to make money, it comes with risks, that's his job. I'm sure he has a top notch insurance plan for his boat, with a very low deductible since it is required to fish an elite event. The rocks below a dam are rounded off from water flow, little risk of puncturing the hull.. you just bounce off like he did. Him and his marshall were obviously braced for impact, you can see them holding on tightly, if they could have EASILY been tossed overboard then they would have been. Oh, and there is no co-angler there... that was an elite event. That is a BASS hired marshal. If you don't want to take a risk, don't sign up to be a marshal on a river tournament. Those of you saying you wouldn't take that risk, then don't. Its your choice. Just like all careers, there are safe ones and ones with risks. If you have a safe one, don't poke fun at people who take a risk.
  24. I usually just use a drop of locktite GEL super glue on the tip of the blank, then slide the tip on.
  25. I catch a lot of smallies on pink plastics while fishing for walleye. Paddle and curl tail ringworms and such. I would think an xrap would be killer in pink. Our water is stained to muddy.
