How Much Of Your Tax Return Is Going To Fishing Supplies?
Some of mine is going to you, I need a couple of Dobyns, maybe 3, and maybe new reels to go with them. I actually just got some new reels, but im not sure if I want something better or not.

Spinning Set Up
Thanks for the replies. After some further research, I have narrowed the rod down to the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth, the Powell Inferno and the Dobyns Savvy 693. Im still not sure on the reel yet, someone suggested the Abu Orra s but I know nothing about it.

Favorite Lip Less Crank And Color
Good old Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap, 1/2oz in Red Crawfish. I have caught more fish on that bait than all my other lipless and lipped cranks combined.

Not sure if anyone saw todays episode, but that was some fine sportsmanship by Lane at the end.

Spinning Set Up
Its been a VERY long time since I have owned a spinning set up. When I did, I just used to throw senkos on it. Now I find myself wanting to expand my tatics to include some drop shotting and shakey heads. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a spinning set up for around $200? Also, what are you guys using for line?

Shimano Compre?
Crucial, Carbonlite, Veritas, Clarus in that order. The crucial is far more sensitive than the others.

Shimano Compre?
As far as the $100 rods go, I have a Carbonlite that I really like, and also a Veritas. I had a microguide break off the Veritas, and honestly it was cheaper and faster for me to have it replaced locally rather than sending it out. I like both rods, but im also wanting to try the Duckett Ghost rods. As far as the Compre, it seems more beefy than my Crucial and maybe a tad bit heavier. I havent found any Shimano rod tip heavy at all, even the $80 Clarus that I snapped in two. I brought that rod back to basspro and had no problems exchanging it.

Fish Attractants?
I just saw a commercial on tv for the Gulp stuff, which is what lead to me making this thread. Personally I dont use any, but the thought has crossed my mind a few times in th past couple of years. Anyone using any? Do you like them, or no? Do you think they work? Maybe someone can convince me to try one of them

Are You In A Bass Club?
The only clubs I have been in were either a teams club or singles, so I have never had the non-boater experience. When I fished as part of a team, we would split time on the front deck. If I was a boater fishing with a non boater, I would probably do the same thing as when I fished teams. Sometimes I just need a break from running things and worrying about boat postion etc, and just hang out in the back. If you want, at your meeting, maybe you could bring up giving the non boater even just a bit of time at the front, but I doubt its going to go well. On the plus side, I know a few guys who have won championships from the back of the boat.

Gps Question

Motorguide Or Minn Kota?
I have always had Minn Kota's. Right now I have a Traxxis SC, which has the digital maximizer that is supposed to help battery life.

Toyota Tacoma Questions
80% commuting, I would say go for it. I had a 1997 Tacoma V6 4x4, one of the best trucks I have ever owned. Pulled an 18'6 Triton with no problems at all. I bought it with 60k miles on it, and I got rid of it with 130k on the clock. 70,000 miles and all I ever had to do was routine stuff like oil, brakes etc. Looking back, I never should have gotten rid of it. I now own a 2012 Tacoma, which I bought brand new. Its got 4 full doors and easily tows my boats. I cant say enough good things about these trucks.

Let's Talk Structure...
My favorite structure spot used to be a long point that went from 2-12 ft and was covered with chunk rock and hydrilla. One weekend we had 34lbs off that point. The very next weekend in a tourney we had 28lbs from it, and something huge got away. 3 weeks after that, the town killed the weeds in the lake and it has never been the same.

Fishing Lodges Somewhere Warm
I drove 20 Hours straight through from RI to fish KY lake for 10 days with a 2 day tourney at the end of the week in April. It was quite the experience "flying" a boat on that lake in the 30mph winds.

What You Wished You Knew When Buying Your First Baitcaster?
I would also say buy a quality reel. Dont go cheap. $80-$100 range is good, alot of guys on here like the Bass Pro Pro Qualifier. I have no experience with that one, but I do like the Bass Pro Extreme reels. Make sure you hold some reels before you make your decision. Believe it or not, not all reels feel the same in the hand. I would say 10 or 12lb test mono, stay away from braid right now. A braid backlash can be a &^$%! to get out. Most importantly, practice practice practice. You absolutely will get backlashes, but dont be afraid of them. It happens to everyone. Good luck!
