  1. I was thinking of trying one of these, I have a jig rod I need to replace that snapped on me last weekend.
  2. I use a Duckett Micro Magic crankin rod, 7' MM. I used it for jerkbaits earlier when the water was cooler, now im using it for a square bill. I love the rod, although I caught a 4 lber on it the other day and it was almost completely bent in half, I thought for sure it was going to snap.
  3. Once they get into a summer pattern you should do better, I can remember loading the boat off that point in the late afternoon/evening.
  4. Having any luck with those spots?
  5. Ok, I have marked the ramp we used to launch from with an X. You can see I marked the ones I can remember, hope this helps you.
  6. Which part of the lake are you guys fishing? If I can find a map I could tell you where the spots were, keep in mind this was 25 years ago lol.
  7. Matter of fact I do haha....He caught a couple of 6 lbers off them too
  8. Boy, this is bringing back some memories. When I was younger, I lived in PA for a few years and fished Green Lane with my father. This was back in 1988-93, and I loved that place. I have always wanted to go back and fish it knowing what I know now. Had some amazing days on that lake.
  9. I have two, the 7' micro magic crankin rod, and a 7'3 heavy ghost, I use the ghost for jigs, and the cankin rod for the obvious. I absolutlely love the micro magic, so much infact that I bought another one, its on its way right now. I really like the ghost, my only complaint with it would be its not as sensitive as I like for bottom contact, but I wouldnt hesitate to buy another one of those either. I just may end up switching to all Ducketts, with the exception on my one Megabass rod.
  10. Everyone has bad starts to there seasons, happens to the best of us. I was in your shoes last season. This season I have been fortunate to be slaying them every time out, at least 15 fish in the boat each trip. I have caught more fish on a jerkbait this year than I have in the past 10 years combined, although I think that bite will be dead after this week of warm weather. Keep your head up, fish your strengths, the bites will come.
  11. I have a Tatula, its my first Daiwa reel ever. Its a really nice reel, I use it for jig fishing. The brakes are excellent, my only complaint would be its a little noisy, and not as smooth as some of my other reels. But I would buy another one without hesitation.
  12. Anyone been to Mashpee-Wakeby yet? Looking at heading there next Sunday since there are no tournies
  13. Fished Cooks pond in Fall River for about 4 hours this morning. 10 in the boat, 3 came off. All were caught on 1/2 oz rattle trap, didnt get a sniff on anything else except for the toothy critter that took my jig. Water temp was 52-53, biggest fish was 3.8, smallest was probably around a pound and a half. I caught one 12" smallie that looked like it swallowed a baseball.
  14. First 13 of 2015 all caught on a 1/2 oz rattle trap today. Couldnt get bit on anything else.
  15. I have a ghost 7'3" heavy i use for jigs. My only complaint would be that the handle is longer than I prefer, other than that its a good rod.
  16. I just built my first AR in 5.56. It was pretty simple to build, and I chose to build it over buying a factory one so that I could get the parts I wanted and not have to upgrade. Sure it cost a little more, but in the long run its worth it if you plan on keeping it for a long long time. 5.56/.223 is cheap and there is a ton of it, plus it doesnt hurt to have a NATO round in a SHTF scenario. My buddy has a DPMS, mine cost about 350 more to build than he paid for his, and I have a much better rifle.
  17. I spend $58.50 for two states. What gets me is my state was $8.50 a year for at least 25 years, then one year they jumped it up to $19 out of nowhere. It's not the price that gets me, it's the fact that all that money gets poured into saltwater boat ramps and trout. They do absolutely nothing for freshwater ramps or bass management of any kind.
  18. I think the best thing about this thread is that the OP had no idea he was about to open Pandora's box when he started it!!
  19. Sears DieHards have never let me down. I cant say the same for Interstates or the Walmart Everstarts. In fairness to the Everstart, it worked great right up until the day it died on me. I could have gotten a free replacement, but I didnt want to keep having to get a new battery every year. About 6 years ago, I had bought Interstates for all 3 batteries. Almost 2 years to the day, fishing a tourney no less, one of the trolling motor batteries completely crapped out. On the way home I stopped at sears and bought two DieHards. Changed them out in the parking lot, have had them ever since. I kept the other Interstate trolling motor battery for a spare, but 2 months later it too was completely gone. I still have that Interstate cranking battery though.
  20. I had two Infernos, but not the cranking model. I will say they were really nice rods, light and pretty sensitive. Only reason I got rid of them was because I didnt care for the XF tip, if they were fast tip I would still have them
  21. Anyone using them? I was watching this kayak fishing tv show, thats how I heard about them. I went to thier website, looks like they have models from $99 up to $200. Decent warranty too. I tried searching but couldnt find too much on them, worth a shot? How do they compare to the Ducketts?
  22. For me, if its bottom contact, its worth it to a point. For example, when I would use a $100 rod for a texas rig, I would often find myself saying, what was that? A weed or a fish? Ever since I bought my first $200+ rod, those questions have greatly reduced. I actually just picked up a $300 rod that was lightly used for $200 on that auction site we all love. There are deals to be had if you keep your eyes open, and if this is going to be your first high end rod, I wouldnt rush into anything new and look for the good deals.
  23. I have never used the PQ's, but I have owned the Carbonlites. The best carbonlites were the old gold ones though. I had a newer one, it was a good reel, but I ended up getting rid of it for a Revo S. That said, I wouldnt hesitate to buy another one if i was in the market.
  24. My #1 go to top water is a Devils Horse. I have caught more fish on that d**n lure than I have all of my other lures put together, baby brush hog being the exception. I remember one time I was fishing in Maine, it was pouring rain and the wind was blowing like 15-20mph. I must have caught at least 30 smallies on that Devils Horse that day, it was incredible.
