Catch 22

Gulp 3 and 4" mullet[twisters] on a jig head or bucktail take a toll on them.Cut bait strips on a bucktail,live minnows do well too. Pearl super flukes on jigs.Tubes lures that simulate crabs . Gulp shrimp on tandem rigs. C22

The traffic is one main reason I enjoy winter fishing so much more. I used to try to warn boaters about sand bars they were going to hit. When they get stuck on them ,I start my engine and leave the area. Average cost for Towboat for them is about $300. The exception is if I see kids onboard that could get hurt if they ground. A guy I worked with once said "don`t fight with idiots,theres just to many of them" C22

Wow ,this brings back memories good and bad. Between work,raising two kids,t ball,every other kind of ball,fishing,building a pond and other chores,I worked on a similar home for 17 years and never did finish it. No regrets,it was a great place to raise a family. Looking forward for some pix C22

When conditions are right, catties will take most bass lures including spinner and crankbaits.

The flukes and bucktails already mentioned are hard to beat. The 6"Storm swim baits and likes there of , are a major player around here in the salt ,particularly at night. BTW, Iv`e known stripers to be color selective at night, thus the need to experiment. C22

I guess you could say"the fur was flying" A cat was sitting on the rear housing[pumpkin ball] of my 62 Chev 327,4 speed and remained there,unknown to me,until I slammed 2 nd gear . I looked in the mirror to see the cat tumbling along the road.I laughed so hard I darn near wrecked. C22

I used to fish t`s and enjoyed it. Lots of people outside the world of t`s would more often than not, mention the cheating that goes on. I really got tired of that stuff. The cheating has an impact even outside the fishing world. If someone is going to "one up " his friends, then where is the limit. C22

A lot of the locals have to be nervous about not having a serious means to protect themselves. C22

Often but not always my text will be underlined like this, until I cancel it. Other times the text has the strike line thru the middle. Text size is goofey sometime. Could be my puter settings ,but I have no trouble any where else. C22

BF24,be careful,at your age , all the "pressure" you suffer may cause ulcers, high blood pressure, excessive flatulation and a host of other problems..[smilies] Good jobs and opportunities don`t seek you out, its the other way round. C22

I snagged a line ,so I started handlining it in. After about 40 yds,I began feeling resistance and some tugging back. Another 30/40 yds revealed a sting ray weighting about 25 lbs. It was not welcome in the boat. I snagged a 1/4" rope of about 200 feet with a huge Danforth anchor attached. I never figured out that combo,but I did use the anchor for years. Also a coupla 202 `s and a pair of jeans.

Problem==I failed to show or call for a date with my wife to be and went fishing for two days.[real]Married 49 yrs now You own a dog named Lunker. You tie a line to his collar and throw a stick for him to chase to test the reel drag. You can`t go more than a day without checking BR C22

Another thread reminded me of a few things that I experienced. Years ago before sellers knew how to package fishing rods for shipment,I hear the doorbell.I looked out the kitchen window to see the mail lady haulin it back to the truck.She jumped in and virtually burned out the drive way???.I went to the door to see my two fishing rod packs in a shape that could mean only one thing==both were broken. The lady knew my passion for fishing and she just didn`t want to see my reaction.All turned out well. So I get a call from the Post Office one Saturday morning informing me that I need to get up there immediately. A butcher friend complied to my request for some deertails that had been shipped about 4 days ago. About 30 of them just cut off and not deboned were a box that was dripping blood and stinking real bad. The RR driver refused to deliver to the box and I don`t blame her Lastly.my son shipped a pack of pictures of the grandkids that didn`t show up for 6 months. They were left in mailbox in another cul de sac with an identical street address. The pictures spent the winter in the box of two snow birds that spend the winter in Fla. Overall I say the postal service does a good job. Oh yeah one more . The mail box bashers were busy one night and had knocked mine right off the post.I threw it out in the middle of the yard and went on to work.I returned home to see my days mail in the box where I had left it. Best mail man ever. The bashers got me and many others two more times. My neighbor and I spread the word the word amongst some likely teen suspects that the feds would be the least of their worries if we caught them at it. The bashing stopped. Tell me your story. C22

I think the term for bait sized catties of about 3" to 4 is "stone rollers". The locals catch some big smallies with them in the Susquehanna River. I was cut by one of the little buggers and as mentioned ,it really hurt.Thanks for the remedy. C22

That is some note worthy catching right there. WTG . How much did the perch weight ?

I try to tie my leaders short enough to not have them pass thru the guides or tip.If that can`t be avoided I retie more often.Some Power Pro line has been known to mysteriously break. I use the PP Slick 8 with no problems. C22

Great report with some really clean looking stripers. Thanks. I wish I had a report for ya but the stripers have not made a normal showing here just yet and it is getting late. Mothers Day usually sees the best spring fishing around here but the slammer blues stayed so long ,that many believe they discouraged the stripers form coming in.

Make sure the rig is properly balanced or more accurately, counter balanced. My thought on the rig ==don`t do it. Wear PFD`s and attach a rope and float to it so you can find it later. C22

I had it yrs ago mainly caused by casting reels . I gave them up for a couple reasons. Blowing up spools of braid down here in the wind and the elbows. I now use spinning reels exclusively and I always use two hands when casting,even if I`m throwing small jigs for crappies/perch.No problems for 20 yrs now. C22
