  1. Caught my PB smallie on motoroil
  2. What are they?
  3. I peg when punching. Otherwise the stopper is roughly 3 inches up. Having that dead space can help you see saw over branches and allow the plastic to fall a little more naturally.
  4. I like them, but I think I like d bombs more all around. Bugs probably better in more open water as they swim back well and kick more on fall.
  5. I like revenge swimjigs. Lots of color options, solid hook, and realistic head. As for trailer...I've used swim senkos but they are very expensive so I've looked into other options. Rage tail shellcracker is too bulky imo but I've liked the missile shockwave...problem is that it has a belly slit so you can't shorten it much to make it look smaller.
  6. Xtra fast equates lesser accuracy. Spinnerbaits are typically used when casting at targets. Jigs can be but are often pitched. Xtra fast for jigs helps you transition quickly into the back bone of the rod allowing you to horse a bass out of cover. That isn't always necessary for spinnerbaits as you usually have the spinnerbait on the edges of docks and brush....not deep inside it.
  7. The larger one is rated for deeper and it weighs more allowing you to wing it further maximizing depth potential
  8. I want some. Makes more sense than buying a one piece swinghead jig and having to get a new one after bending the hook out.
  9. I like em. I catch bigger than average with them on. The trig punch setup shouldn't be sitting on bottom either. The key to the skirt is when you jig it up and down it adds flare and size to the plastic. A jig sits upright and the skirt flares out at rest.
  10. I have the black omni freeze long sleeve zip up neck. Love it. Was in upper 80s with no wind a couple weeks ago. I was nice and cool. If I got warm I unzipped. At one point a small storm cell passed and I zipped up and stayed warm. As has been stated, cotton holds water...which is why you don't wear it in winter unless your goal is hypothermia! Also white cotton doesn't protect you completely from the sun, especially if it gets wet or sweaty.
  11. All day long All right...giggity
  12. I'm looking for a crankbait rod for baits that dive roughly 10 feet and been very interested in the tcs lineup. Can you recommend me a rod?
  13. It appears to me that the question that should be asked is what is the worst braid.
  14. I punch watershield...aka small tightly packed lily. Can't swim anything through it. It's punch or walk on top.
  15. I don't know how I did without them.
  16. You gonna drop that line and sinker over every square foot?
  17. I've truly found color not to mean much. I still consider it though. Just put in a tw order...Some chartreuse, some shad like, some browns, some bluegill. Basic rule of thumb...If sunny use naturals like flashy ones or clear ones. Darker skies or water calls for solid colors be it dark browns or even whites and firetiger.
  18. I use the redear...only because it was only one available. I like it though. I want the crappie color now.
  19. Hell yea...I need some chunks.
  20. Depends on the lake. Cooler water can hold more oxygen...but shaded shallows can be churned up by wind and waves increasing o2 levels. The shade also drops the temp.
  21. This x2. I had invizx on one of my reels and straight swapped for sniper at same #. Sniper had less stretch, more sensitivity, more supple, and more abrasion resistance. I've had frays in my invizx I could snap with an easy tug. With sniper similar frays were much more difficult to snap. I haven't tried fx2 or sx1, braid as I want to try seaguar smackdown, but I'm really leaning Sunline lately.
  22. I'm not worried about breaking any of my rods in tall grass... The gimmick is how they won't break. That says nothing of their fishing qualities. They market you a fishing item by how durable they are...not about how innovative or useful they are in the actual task they were built for. Like buying a fridge with dent resistant technology but can't keep food cold... Ugly sticks being around decades has nothing to do with it. Gimmicks divert or attraction attention. That's exactly what is going on. If you want to spend your money on mass produced noodles then more power to you.
  23. I had my first success cranking down to roughly ten feet and want to get into it more. Would this depth range be considered moderate or deep cranking? The point is what rod power should I look for? My medium action and 6to1 reel was wearing me out and was wondering if I should look into a medium heavy? I was using 16# FC Sunline sniper with strike king series 5 (10-13 running depth) that only hit bottom with looong cast and rod touching water. Should I stick to cranks that run at those depths or drop my FC line size to 12 or 14?
  24. Had a 7 or 8 shake off at boat. It was a stud. I haven't shaken like that in years
