  1. I have been putting a floor in my Jon boat and put a screw through the hull. Short of welding, what can I use to patch the screw hole.
  2. I'm hardheaded!
  3. Quantum Accurist on a 6'8" St Croix Avid MH. I can throw a weightless Senko a long way.
  4. I like to fish the big brush hogs on a Pro Jobe jighead rigged weedless. They are great in thick grass.
  5. I bought a bag of Fat Ikas several months ago and I had not used them yet. Friday I was fishing with a friend and it was real slow. I only had one small bass in about two hours so I decided to try the Fat Ikas because nothing else seemed to work. I caught two in about thirty minutes, one was 8 lbs ;D. Needless to say, I will be using a Fat Ika a lot in the future.
  6. I swear by Jack's Juice garlic, I use it on all my soft plastics.
  7. Welcome! Its nice to see a fish like that coming from the Blackwater. My Daughter lives in Milton and every time I go to visit my Grandkids I wonder if I should take my jon boat. I guess now I will.
  8. All Star makes nice rods and the Fenwick Roadwarrior mentioned is a nice rod. But my favorite rods in that price range are St Croix Avids.
  9. I was a member since the 70's till last year when I didn't renew. I just wasn't getting anything out of it anymore.
  10. I Havn't used the Revo but I love my accurists and you can't go wrong with one.
  11. All good advice. Just one more thing to remember, DON'T FORGET TO PUT IN THE PLUG! Don't ask me how I know.
  12. I have had good luck with streamers for bass. Don't get large deer hair poppers & sliders. they work but you will have a hard time throwing them on a 6 wt.
  13. I have a pair of Orvis Clearwater Endura bootfoot waders and I like them a lot. I got them pretty cheap on Ebay. I went to the Orvis store & tried on a pair before I bought them so I had the size right. If you buy from ebay, don't buy used waders look for new ones. Used waders usually wil leak. If money was not an issue, I would buy Simms. They will last forever.
  14. I would reverse them. I use medium for crankbaits and med heavy or heavy for plastics.
  15. I also use a 6wt unless I am throwing big wind resistant bass bugs in which case I use an 8wt Orvis clearwater. however, I beleive that a 7wt is a really good weight for bass. If you don't want to spend too much money for a good rod try a St Croix Premier. They run about $90 which is pretty good for a fly rod. I have the 6 wt Premier and really like it. I use the Scientific Anglers Mastery line on it.
  16. 10 lbs. On a 3/8 oz Mini Me spinner bait, white with Chartreuse skirt and a white twin tail grub trailer.
  17. I also have the Rapala 50# digital scale and I had been satisfied with it until last Friday. I caught a fish that I estimated at between 6 & 7 lbs. I was real disapointed when the scale said 4.2 lbs. The rest of the day I thought about it and convinced myself the scale was wrong. So when I got home I hung a 5lb bag of sugar on the scale and it read 3lbs. Now I have lost all confidence in digital scales. I will probably go ahead and get a Boga grip.
  18. I use Jack's Juice Garlic on plastics. Nothing on hard baits. Works for me.
  19. I grew up in Florida and down there you only have two seasons, Summer & Christmas.
  20. Speak for yourself! I am more of a low country cracker.
  21. I am as big as you (if not bigger, 260 lbs). and I have a 10' jon boat that I use for small ponds when I fish alone. I also have a 14' that I use when fishing with someone else, but the 10' is my favorite one man boat. I can slip it in the back of my station wagon and put it in the water anywhere. I installed a seat in the middle and mounted a hand operated trolling motor on the bow. I use a tiller extension and a big foot switch to run it. The battery is in the stern. It balances out real well and is pretty stable. But like Avid said, don't expect to stand up in it. I catch more fish in this than any other boat.
  22. I wouldn't know anything about winterizing. In Georgia we fish all year.
  23. If I was limited to one bait it would be a T-rigged worm year round. I usually go out with six rods rigged. Most days they would be: T-rigged worm Spinner bait Senko or Fat Ika Crank bait Buzz bait or other topwater Finesse or trick worm on Spinning Rod The top two don't change, I use them year round. The bottom four change according to where I am Fishing, time of year, depth, type of structure etc.
  24. I was in a local tackle shop yesterday that is owned by one of the most knowledgable fishermen I know. He swears that Suffix is the best mono for Spinning reels. I bought a spool to try it out. I will let you know how it is after I use it this weekend.
