  1. I grew up in Palatka and fished the St Johns a lot back then. But that was over thirty five years ago. That was before they dammed up the Ocklawaha river to create the Rodman Reservoir. If it hasn't changed since then, you should look for the places with a gravel or sand bottom and use a Carolina Rig. I also used to catch a lot of fish using a Texas rigged worm targeting bridge pilings and docks. There are some big fish in the St Johns. You just have to find them.
  2. I have the same boat and also have a 12 foot jon boat. I use both. It depends on where I am fishing. If I am by myself or fishing in a small pond, I will usually use the Pelican. With someone else or in bigger water I use the Jon. The pelican does get very heavy with all my gear on it. I bought a small flatbed trailer from Northern tool to cary it on. I can unhook the trailer and roll it to the pond if there is no ramp, which there seldom is where I use it. At one pond, where I use the Pelican, I have to roll it over half a mile through the woods. That would be very hard to do with my jon boat. If I was limited to only one boat I would definately get a Jon. It is much more versatile.
  3. In order to properly build foam core panels, you will have to vacuum bag the panel after applying the resin or you will have too much separation between the foam & fiberglass. I had some experience doing it a long time ago and it is not an easy process.
  4. I fly fish a lot. Mostly for trout when it is too cold for bass fishing. However I quite often fly fish for Bass on farm ponds and golf course ponds. I wade the river shoals around here and fish for shoal Bass. The largest Bass I have caught on a fly was 7 lbs and that was a blast on a six weight. I still fish a lot with conventional tackle as well. What I fish with is determined by where I am fishing, what time of year it is and whether I am in the boat or on foot. Fly fishing is not confined to topwater. I can tie a fly to mimic a lot of conventional bait. I have caught a lot of bass on a "Hairy Fodder" which is basicaly a jig for a fly rod or a clouser which looks like a bait fish and both can be fished fairly deep with a sink tip line. I just like all kinds of fishing. Fly, casting, spinning, freshwater or salt it's all good.
  5. Vegetarian? No. PETA infiltrator.
  6. If you keep it, make sure you send the first bill you get back with "did not order" written across it. I had Readers Digest send me a CD I didn't order and they sent me bills for over a year. I just ignored the bills because I read the same information from the post office on merchandise you didn't order. However, I found out later that they reported it to the credit bureau as a bad debt and it was a nightmare getting it off my credit.
  7. I have a BPS extreem reel and you couldn't give me another one! It is not even close to the Quantum Accurists I am using now. I also recently bought a Diawa Procaster 100H and a Megaforce 100TSH (with a twitchin bar). They are both going on E-bay because I don't like them as well as the Accurist either. If you want to stay in that price renge, I would look for an Accurist on E-bay. You can get new or almost new ones there for $60- $80.
  8. Florida is upside down. North Florida is a Deep South State and South Florida is a northern state.
  9. I usually carry six or seven depending on where I am fishing. One rigged with a senko or Fat Ika One with a texas rigged worm, lizard or tube One with a spinner bait one with a Buzz bait A crank bait rod A Jig rod and a Spinning rod with either a Dropshot or splitshot rig Sometimes I carry a fly rod for when the topwater bite is really on
  10. A Trojan is a condom! ;D USC has been good for a lot of years, but they don't play an SEC scedule and never have. I heard that the PAC 10 are changing their name to "USC and the 9 Dwarfs."
  11. Does Avid have a 20 year old wife?
  12. I use old style worms a lot. They might work better than they ever did because the fish don't see them much now.
  13. Not if the requirement is to be at the draft. I have a conflict this Saturday also. If you can live with me not being at the draft, I will play. If not, no biggie.
  14. I wasn't at the draft because I was at the Falcons & Titans game Friday night. Just because I wasn't at the draft doesn't mean I didn't fully intend to play out the entire year. While I am not real fired up about the team that was drafted for me, I can live with it. However, if you guys want to scrap this league and start a new one just because everyone was not at the draft, suit youself. There are a lot of leagues I can play in.
  15. I don't wish any damage on any of you Florida boys, but We Georgians are all praying for Fay to come up here and sit over us for about a week. This drought sucks.
  16. Friday night is the draft and we are still down one team. Will ESPN let us hold a draft with an odd number of teams? I know Yahoo won't. If not, we need to get one other player.
  17. I'm in. last year was fun.
  18. 12 casting 6 spinning 4 zebcos for the kids 7 fly rods and 8 or 10 rods without reels standing in the corner of the garage.
  19. Try twisting the rubber legs then running a permanent marker down one side. You will get rubber legs with a colored stripe running around & around from one end to the other. Try Red or Yellow marker.
  20. On a high speed turn you can back off the throttle until the stern drops and then accelerate through the turn and the cavitation will stop.
  21. I have a BPS Crankin Stick and two Tourney Specials that I used for years. I liked them a lot and didn't believe any other rod could be any better. Both have been collecting dust in the corner of my garage ever since I bought my first St Croix Avid two years ago.
