If they make the new curado or scorpion in a 51/1001 size I'll probably pick one up. That conquest looks nice too, probably out of my budget for a while though.

I don't have the casting model but I have a spinning veritas medium. With my veritas I pretty much ignore the ratings and throw whatever I want on it. It's not my best rod and it's not my favorite rod but if I could only take one rod with me white lightning would be the one.

I think centrifugal is more user friendly than mags

I reeled with my left hand with spinners for years before getting a baitcaster and for me left hand baitcasters are way more comfortable. Reeling with my right hand feels awkward.

I have both the premier and the veritas, and normally I would say get the veritas, but for frogs I like the premier better.

Whatever reel you want, the rod does most of the casting. Just pick one that has the line capacity you're looking for. Shimano pflueger and abu garcia will all get the job done.

Maybe they measure "max drag" with most of the line out because the less line in the spool the stronger the drag

See if you can get your hands on the reels first. The lews tournament mg fits my hand perfectly. Also I wouldn't get too caught up in the drag, if you've ever tried to measure out the drag on a reel you would be surprised how strong even 5 lbs of drag is.

On the reel it should list the capacity of the reel for several different line diameters.
