I love the Luhr Jensen hotlips series. Hit 20 feet with ease on 10 pound test. Rebel deep wee r's will dive deeper than 10 feet on 8 - 10 pound test as well.

How is the action on it in comparison to the pointer?

I use an EWG 1/0 Gammy for 3" tubes and the 3/0 for four inch tubes. Takes a little practice to rig right but it's worth it.

The diving lips seem to negate the darting action somewhat. The X - Rap deep is still pretty good though, I can get it to dart fairly well.

I always use a fluorocarbon leader when using braid. The uni to uni works great.

In clearer water drop shotting and shaky heads also work.

Carolina rigged lizard, heavier lipless crankbaits, bigger spinnerbaits, or even curly tails or tubes on heavy jigheads.

Black or white are my favorite, but I also use chartreuse sometimes.

The 100% fluoro seems to have less memory than the fluoroclear, but it's a bit less abrasion resistant. It's still darn good line though. Vanish is good for nothing, it breaks with little pressure, tied with ANY knot.

There is NO evidence that human skin contact has any affect on treated water. Humans as a rule are not carriers or waterborne illnesses, and animals, including fish and waterfowl, not to mention coyotes, deer ect. can urinate and deficate in the lake at will, and the treatment plants take care of that. Any reasons water utility goons, who are really just a bunch of Un - American bullycrats give to restrict or ban access are just nothing but lies. There is ZERO evidence to support what they do. Any bureaucrats who do this are not even worthy of being called citizens of a free country. Screw them all!

Colorado is bad for this as well. We have numerous lakes where ice fishing and even non motorized boating is banned. No factual evidence exists that these activities can contaminate a municipal water source. Just remember, these lakes are PUBLIC PROPERTY! WE OWN THEM! The way to victory is relentless pressure or petitions to get a measure on the ballot. The cities generally cannot overturn ballot measures. Here in Grand Junction, Terry Franklin, our water resources superintendent, is so arrogant that he calls our public reservoir HIS reservoir and tries to say it's public property. These arrogant bureaucrats deserve nothing but to be taken out and tarred and feathered. WE OWN THIS LAND DARNIT! Government is the SERVANT of the people, not the master. Those who don't obey public mandates should be immediately canned, if not JAILED!

Anyone here used the 5" gulp jerk shads for bass? Do they work as well as flukes or bass assassins? How is the action in comparison?

The 4" Mister Twister Split Double Tail is one of the best jig trailers. A soft plastic frog also works really well.

I love the scumfrog popper and also the spro bronze eye. I plan to try the bronze eye popper this year as well. Does anyone here like the original Snag Proof frog with the realistic legs?

I still pay six bucks for a bag of ten. Still worth every penny because these lures flat out catch TONS of bass.

I don't do well on them in very clear, calm water when the bass are very pressured and lethargic. But I always carry spinnerbaits, because they work very well in lots of situations. Not many things work better for covering water, especially if it's a little off colored. And you can slow them down using a stop and go retrieve.

My biggest largemouth last year, over 5 pounds, came on a Berkley Gulp 3" white minnow grub when fishing for walleye. The baits in the bags do dry out a little bit. Gulp is lethal for walleye and it works on bass too. I haven't used it much for bass, but I plan on trying the sinking minnows and jerk shads this year. The alive bucket baits do have even better action and they keep better. I used to be skeptical of gulp, but it DOES work very well. It isn't magic, but it does work well. Other plastics and other presentations do still work better at times.

I fish finesse worms on 6 pound test with a 1/0 EWG hook, weightless. If the cover is sparse, it can be done.

Sportsman's warehouse in Grand Junction always carries them. They are the best buzzbaits around, for sure.

Shad raps rock, the joined shad rap is lethal.

Powerpro, hands down. Strong, abrasion resistant, no memory, great feel.

The P - Line fluorocarbon line is great, is really strong. For fluorocarbon leader, the P - Line fluorocarbon leader is the best.
